Easy to fix, just grab some 80 grit sandpaper and sand it off! Then use some 900 grit to smoothen your screen again.

Not a good idea for the screen. It's fine for a whiteboard, but a screen has special coatings that would be destroyed.

Ideally you use the same (solvent based) marker that got you into this mess, because you know it has a solvent for the pigment in question.

It seems like the alcohol breaks up the permanent marker and loosens particles making it not permanent anymore

Alcohol won't damage the screen but it will dissolve oleophobic and anti-reflective coatings, giving you uneven shiny spots.

Alcohol doesn't damage LCDs, both with a glass digitizer or without. It's acetone you want to avoid.

Alcohol is perfectly fine to use on LCD screens. Just be sure to dampen a cloth with alcohol, don't pour it directly onto the screen.

That's not a monitor, its a tablet which would have a glass cover over the screen. Alcohol is fine. I've also used in on a standard LCD 1/2

Alcohol isn't a danger to LCDs, I don't think. Long as the device is turned off and you don't use a lot, you should be golden.
