I still do this. Also unplug my ipod and pocket it too.

I use a DiskLok on my favorite car when I park in questionable places.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2002 but yeah

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Nobody ever stole my stereo tho.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I parked near a car last week that had a Hordak sticker on it and a club on the wheel

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I remember most people who had the steering lock had a car no one would want to steal.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I have an old car and people have tried to steal it because they think it is easy pickings. They gouged a hole in my door lock.

Omg, that’s great! I so remember that late 80’s early 90’s Ford Probe, LOL! What’s the sauce?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We had pullouts, they sucked.

Clubbing with my own music

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup they still make clubs... old lab where I worked had a couple of cars stolen from the lot & management bought everyone one on response

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

They also hired more security.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Uncle used to put a huge metal shackle he made under the clutch pedal of his doorless farm truck. Kept us kids from taking joyrides :p

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had those when I got my car in the 90s.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I never actually locked my Club Lock because I always lost the key.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Any and all clubs can be removed in 90seconds by a battery powered angle grinder

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My car didn't need the key to start it the locking pin in the ignition broke so I just go in and started it

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I see a dude who clubs his steering wheel every day at the train station

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Guarantee you could pick those in 5 seconds with a wave rake

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

You misspelled paperclip

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This change and many others brought to you by access to abortion AKA the Donohue–Levitt hypothesis.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

None of the cars my family had in the 90's had a detachable radio panel.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

TBH I usually saw those on aftermarket radios, not manufacturer ones.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh definitely too poor for one of those

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh, look. The poors are here

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Can't afford to go anywhere else /shrug

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Okay I think I'm old enough to know now, how do clubs work?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They’re supposed to make it impossible to turn the steering wheel fully. Of course thieves have ways around that.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

K turns with a lot more points?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bolt cutters through the steering wheel, one spot, Club falls off.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah...I see, that's for English cars!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hacksaw is just as fast, and easier to conceal

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I drive a manual, and have a fuel cut-off switch hidden in the car

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Part of the point of the club is a highly visible deterrent that you can't drive the car. Its prevents vandalism, like a smashed window.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Sauce: Used to have a manual, they'd smash the window THEN realize its manual. That gets to be fucking expensive.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Driving manual is enough security these days

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had a friend who would remove the rotor button when parking for more than a few hours.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah yes, the Kill Switch.

ENGAGED

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

*Late 90’s. Early 90’s was pullout decks and gun racks.

30 year old radios are funny

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Club was early 90s. I had one in college for a little bit.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

See that's where me and those decks differ

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

@OP didn't specify which part of the decade, meaning they are technically correct. The best kind of correct.

beep beep, protected by viper -your car prob

3 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 2

Protected by an actual viper

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I can remember one model that had a voice say “armed by Viper” before blaring the alarm.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

One of those lived next door to me....in a duplex....know how I know?? It was always going off at 1am!!!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I remember one that was behind the Jack in the box just east of 35 by braker lane in some apartments back there that did the same!!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And then they still smashed your window or gouged your lock for your sunglasses and ash tray coins

3 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Oh and CDs

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

exactly if they want it they will get it... thats why i dont bother locking the doors... just OPEN them! not smash my glass

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Buddy in ‘88 Hollywood. They broke the window of his low end Hyundai to take stock radio. Ever see first Hyundais?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah. That’s the one in Boyz n the Hood

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fantastic ad campaigns!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I remember my friend had a radio face plate that would flip when I turned off the car .. so u didn't have to take it with you

3 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

Those were cool my cousin had one

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I remember those

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Wot? The whole point of taking it with you was to make it pointless to steal the rest of it.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Visited NYC in '88 - cars had a card in the window - NO RADIO. One car had a had broken window and another card - JUST CHECKING (/s)

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Kenwood Dmask

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Made by Kenwood.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Kenwood had their own, the KDC-W8027 for example

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Come stock on Mazdaspeed Protégés

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or the Kameleon, which was featureless black when off.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Which is currently in my daily driver!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Made by JBL. My good friend had this. I thought it was the greatest thing ever invented.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

JVC, if i remember correct

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

JVC KDxLX111....I (still) have one, it’s been in every one of my daily drivers since 2002. I added a 3.5 aux input jack to it

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's awesome! I bet you're like a little kid watching it start up every time.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

With the key fob attacks now, they are recommending these again.

3 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 0

Yeah unfortunately proximity keyfobs created a whole new issue for convenience

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have to keep my keys in a metal box at night because our car was getting "broken" into multiple nights a week

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

It was always locked with no signs of forced entry

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Nearly every Range Rover parked around here has one, some even going back to the huge discs that cover the steering wheel. Very stealable.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm suddenly curious what it would look like if the airbag went off with one of those on.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fob attacks. *laughs in 80s Mercedes*

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

*Laughs in lishi lock picks*

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Key fob attacks?

3 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

Basically an man-in-the-middle attack with a short range client/repeater. One person gets the encrypted signal and send it to the other.

3 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Reason to buy a Keyhanger with a metal plate at the wall, and a tray below and putt your keys there, to reduce the range of the fob.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or, if you are sitting close by, say in a cafe and you parked just outside. Bye bye car. It's the worse invention yet.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It was just so damn inconvenient having to press a button on the key.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The car thinks the keys are near the car so it unlocks, starts, whatever. It’s usually only viable on keyless ignition vehicles.

3 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Gotta love low tech security.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Good think I’m poor enough to not own a keyless entry Fob
