As a Canadian who only took French in high school I have to marvel at how difficult switching back and forth probably is during a speech, in front of everyone, and cameras. I know Carney struggled a bit at the start with French, but I feel it's gotten a lot better recently.

But, while Carney's initial comments (https://www.pm.gc.ca/en/news/statements/2026/02/28/statement-prime-minister-carney-and-minister-anand-situation-middle-east) were disappointing, I realize he's also balancing the need to stay in the good graces of Pol Potbelly with regard to what is left of our trade agreement with the US (e.g. CUSMA.)
