So it appears that the NASCAR noose story that had a lot of people really upset might have been a misunderstanding. Either way, NASCAR and its teams and drivers didn't hesitate to stick up for Bubba when they thought he'd been targeted for a racist attack.

I'm really happy to learn that it was probably just a mix-up about a door pull, and I'm even happier to see how NASCAR showed solidarity.

(NASCAR's still boring compared to short track racing, though.)

They are going to continue investigating as to why he is the only one with a pull cord shaped like a noose. Good on em.

FAKE NOOSE!

Agree on all fronts. Love short track racing too!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If someone had walked up and told me I'd be rooting for NASCAR today, even 4 or 10 years ago, I'dve probably decked them.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Do you think racists will stop watching NASCAR, Like they claimed to stop watchng football, after Kaepernicks whole kneely dealy?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I always found this kind if behvavior to be tricky and complicated, but I'm glad it was a positive chabge in this case.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

It's great news that it wasn't a hate crime, and it's also great news that NASCAR was ready to kick people to the curb.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

or you're hunting ghosts and not everything is as racist as leftist want you to believe. it's all about 2020, and power folks

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 17

Most things aren't. When the black driver's team moves into a new bay and finds a door pull tied in a noose, it's cause for concern.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 13

Another juicy smallyay incident...?

5 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 29

No.

Dammit. Another Juicy Smooley

Wow, you're a lying sack of shit.

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 38

Not at all. *He* didnt place it there.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Please this was a PR stunt. How can no one have known it was a normal garage door pull rope.

5 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 47

Cuz it was fashioned into a noose?

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 11

Except Bubba called out all skeptics as racists

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 7

No, he criticized conspiracy theorists pushing their hoax narrative with no evidence except "everybody knows blacks lie"

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 15

The evidence was "Why? How? Let's see a picture, some sort of evidence for A HATE CRIME except literally, he said he said"

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Ya...like...like what if we accidentally make the United States Great Again...that would be terrible.

5 years ago | Likes 250 Dislikes 34

That would never work as it wasn’t great in the first place. But you’re all (mostly) learning.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Yeah, show me where in US history "make America great again" applies to black NASCAR drivers, or black people in general.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Again? For whom?

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Yeah, no big deal it’s not like FBI arrested a white nascar mechanic b/c he fit description of a racist & then killed him for “resisting”

if there were two white nascar mechanics on the moon and one killed the other with a rock would that be fucked up or what

Black NASCAR driver's team moved into a new garage bay, and when they moved in the rope on the door was tied in a noose. They reported »

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 14

» this as a potential attempt at racial intimidation, and NASCAR took it very seriously, and other drivers and teams expressed solidarity. »

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 15

» On further investigation, it appears it had already been tied like that before Wallace's team got there, and it was a misunderstanding.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 15

And now Bubba Wallace is doubling down, he believes it was still in fact a noose and a hate crime against him.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

'kay

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

No, if it turned out to be a hoax, relations would be more stressed then ever. All that good will would snap back an create new rascists.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

Worse it forces good people who value honesty and fairness to side with the assholes.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

If they actually valued honesty and fairness, they wouldn't feel "forced" to side with racists. You're full of shit.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 16

Honest people don't side with people who fake hate crimes. You don't know what honesty is.

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 9

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was literally tied in a noose. And per NASCAR's preliminary investigation, it was the only garage with such a thing.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 13

NASCAR is still boring compared to F1. Also, F1, as far as I know never had to outlaw confederate flags.

5 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 9

F1 isnt as aggressive. Theres no bumping, no drafting, barely any overtakes in a race. I enjoy F1, but it's much more tame.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You are just trying to start a race war.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not even this one?

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 7

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 4

Wait, was that the noose in question? That couldn't fit over a gopher, let alone a human head.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

It's not even a noose. It's a basic loop knot that doesn't slide to tighten.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

When nooses are hung as a threat, it's not about the size—it's about the symbolism.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 19

It's not a noose! it's a rope to pull the door shut

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

Neat

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 17

When you're a racist hammer, everything looks like a noose

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

That photo is from 2017. All the doors at that garage are tied that way, to make it easier to pull the cord which allows the door to shut.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

I worked at a delivery shop where our doors were electric, but the backups that latched at the top were all tied like this.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

And it's not a noose. A noose tightens on itself. These are loops that DON'T tighten. You need a good handhold to yank the latch open.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Reacting like this to any rope with a loop in it a noose does a grave disservice to those who were murdered by *actual* nooses.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Many stories on racism usually are.. like Covington kid, Smollett, Erica Thomas, etc. ppl react on emotion and then the facts come out.

Not alt-left. Ctrl-left, because they want to control you.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 5

They react on emotion because there are far far many more stories of racism that are true, and they are sorta sick of it.

5 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 36

I suspect though, that had the facts been known about this, what the "noose" really was, there wouldn't be nearly as strong reactions.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 6

Which is why there was an investigation. To find out why the one black driver was the only garage with a noose in it. They found out. 1/

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 10

In the meantime, we had drivers and fans proudly proclaiming their racism by getting pissed off about the confed flag. So it was an 2/

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yes, the title is a bit inaccurate. The knot *was* a noose, but it sounds like it was miscommunication with the previous team in that bay.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 7

Yeah. Bubba was new in that bay, the noose had been up for weeks previously before he had been assigned to it.

I mean judging by the comments on Twitter and how some people felt when they banned the Confederate flag, there was strong evidence.
