Just once, I would like to see a reasonable argument for why Sherman didn't torch the ENTIRE Confederacy.

In Arkansas? That bastion of integration? No, really?

Almost as if vouchers were just a sham from the start to allow precisely this….

Of course Horsesface Chucklebee is a racist. She previously stood up and backed a racist. She is pushing Orange Monkey's DEI exclusion policy into her state.

90% of the reason why people select schools has to do with race, one way or another. Maybe "good" reasons, maybe "bad" reasons, but K-12 education is mostly about race. All Americans know this, few will admit it.

There was a documentary, viewable on Netflix, about how the resegregation of Arkansas was not just under way, but in effect. I haven't been able to find it lately, so I assume it was removed for some reason, but it was quite eye-opening for me. I *think* this is it, if you're interested: https://www.kanopy.com/en/product/teach-us-all

What did you expect from white supremacist christiofascists?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm guessing the defenders are people who wish they could move to Harrison, AR, but can't for various reasons.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a multi-racial individual myself, this feels like overreaction. I know families who've selected schools that are more racially diverse than where they are zoned specifically so that their children will be exposed to more cultures. That said... voucher programs are a scam on taxpayers and suck ass.

Given this is Huckabee-Sanders, it's absolutely a dogwhistle for 'whites only' school.

Oh, hell. If it had been multiple choice, D would have been, β€œWell, DUH!”
It’s Arkansas, the most overtly racist state in the entire US! There are towns which still post their Sundown rules at the city limits.

The Civil Rights movement was a product of its place in history; the Right believes that the American People don't have that sort of fight left in them anymore. Only time will tell if they're right...

A good reason to include this question would be to WEED OUT the parents who only want a different school for racist reasons.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

And no one is worried about stricter discipline question?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hate this planet so much. So many of you people are so reactionary, that you just ignore basic reading comprehension all the time.

Look at the response. "To access a different racial mix of students for my child." Why would a racist want their children to have access to a different racial mix of students? A racial...MIX.

The response could have been worded "So my child can experience a diverse range of cultures", or something else, that is true. But come on guys.

That drop-down pick is is couched in coded language. The racists know EXACTLY what is meant by that selection: We don't want no mixing of the races. I recommend reading Michael Harriot's Black AF History if you want to learn more.

Hucker Sands is still bitter that the South lost the civil war. She's a terrible person.

Sarah Huckster-Lies Sanders is so bitter, she wants young children to be working in Arkansas factories, instead of focusing on their education and getting to be playful children for that relatively short time in their lives.

"To access religious instruction for my child" - yeah that's what SUNDAY SCHOOL IS FOR

1 year ago | Likes 89 Dislikes 2

Nah, you don’t get it. Need the child to be there at least 5 days a week to ensure indoctrination.

Racists and sexists voted for Trump exactly because they wanted this to happen so I don’t know who this is expected to surprise

When Obama became POTUS, the far-right & conservative demographic was in an uproar. They published all sorts of articles laced with racist remarks. They were brutal. And even in Congress, you could hear mutterings of racism. When Obama got a 2nd term, they were pretty overt about their racism too.

Last item, 'To access resources in support of home-schooling my child'. Does the state provide ammunition for home-schoolers to shoot at cans in the yard nowadays?

1 year ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

They don’t want their kids learning woke nonsense like the scientific method

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

"If'n you shoot at a can, and the can gets hit, that's cause god made it do that"

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Honestly planning on hschooling in a few years when it’s time for my kid to go to school since I live in the south and the education quality was shit *before* this administration. So much anxiety about accessing good resources since everything is geared towards religious nut birds.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Best of luck, seriously. I’ve known people whose kids greatly benefitted from homeschooling. The other 90%, they did it for racial or vaccine reasons

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We homeschooled our kids for many years. We did not do it for religious, or political reasons. We wanted to give them more opportunities, they were also very active in activities with other kids. Dance, athletics, scouting, and trips. When they entered high school they entered and jumped grade levels. The teachers were all surprised that they already knew most of the other students. Not all kids with home based education are weirdos with hillbilly parents.

Do you have suggestions for home schooling?
I’ve always thought that was a more β€œgranola” route than I was prepared for, (teaching is truly an art form, imo) but with the school shootings getting worse I’m contemplating keeping them at home. I can at least make sure my kids learn about the contributions of women & POC this way & if we have some extra sick days I can let them rest instead of trying to get them right back to school so they don’t fail the year over β€œchronic” absences. (10 days)

Look into unschooling. What is the age range of your kids: preschool, grade school, middle school, high school? We actually used a lot of the merit badge books a lot, as a guide for key points on subjects. I was glad they chose to go to high school, otherwise we would have utilized the local community colleges for chemistry, and higher maths. Remember, you’re not bringing public school home.
Our state we had to turn in a curriculum, and the kids had to take an annual achievement test. 1/?

I also turned in a transcript each year so that if they choose to go to public school we could show what was covered. We used state, and natural parks for environmental sciences, geology, traveled for geography, and history. There are more homes schooling co-op activities more too. Our local area has a lot of activities during the day. There is homeschool Ski Day, there are lessons. The local YMCA has items for homeschoolers. Honestly. If you do workbook sorts of school work that part 2/?

takes a couple of hours, then the rest of the day you are out in the community. The kids truly have more socializing than in school where you have to sit quietly doing mostly buddy work, or waiting for the kids screwing around. It is important to give them down time to just play, read, think, learn to do some chores as we all live in the house and it’s not one persons job to take care of it. We also had one day a week that was movie day. 3/3

Only upvoting for the reference, not for approval of what he said. That was Wallace.

During the speech Wallace declared: "In the name of the greatest people that have ever trod this earth, I draw the line in the dust and toss the gauntlet before the feet of tyranny, and I say segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever."

Hear that jubilant cheering? That's a passionate approval. These people are racist to their cores.
