Hey dude, no shit, you have a good concept here. Solid cross between souls style gaming and fishing mixed with Resident Evil vibes. +1

Not for me, but I still think that's pretty fucking cool. I'd give it a try at least

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Please find someone to develop this into a game!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Most appropriate price is tree fiddy.

5 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 2

Nessie should be a random encounter. Giving him 3.50 results in him keeping the big monsters and mutated fish away from you for a short time

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I would play the absolute shit out of that game.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I need this game

5 years ago | Likes 82 Dislikes 1

What about one called "Decoy"

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

I'd play something like that maybe.

5 years ago | Likes 218 Dislikes 2

Donate to my Kickstarter campaign! Its @venmo me directly. DM for more details!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 8

Maybe i'd play it, maybe I won't. What's it to ya?!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If it was done with the same sort of feel as shadow of the colossus I would definitely play

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A Wonderful Day for Fishing or Earls Day Off are fishing based horror games? Less cool, but still not bad~

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I would spend a weekend playing The Alluring Waters of Innsmouth

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

McElligott's Pool...?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Like if resident evil 4 and pro bass fisher had a baby

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Do I know the game has a story? Or do I just think its a fishing game?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Not immediately but it sounds like once the fucky things happen you get the idea

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Subnautica is a great game with similar ideas.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

..but no traditional fishing.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is what feature creep looks like.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My idea: You go out on a boat alone because none of your friends woke up on time and you get drunk and catch nothing. REAL FISHING 64

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As a game dev, this idea has legs. Only issue is marketing it as a fishing game will not reach the audience that would most appreciate it.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This sounds like a great survivor horror game. I wonder if we can implement any puzzles into it that aren't 3rd grade level

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Background scenes include real lake monsters from around the world, Nessy, Ogopogo, Morag, Lagarfljót Worm, Inkanyamba etc.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You're allowed to say "fuck" on the internet.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fuck. Holy shit!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It would be fun to play with non-euclidean map design, really fuck with the players' sense of direction, hehe.

5 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

Would work best with a near-permanent fog limiting view distance, probably.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I'm not sure. I've seen a lot of low budget indie games with fog (let's be honest this wouldn't be AAA) And it kinda looks like ass

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Citadel looks like ass for the most part but the mist is amazing. I imagine it's using a 3d tex and sprites. I would use 3d tex and depth.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was really hoping the end of this post would have a link to the demo...

5 years ago | Likes 114 Dislikes 0

I mean this is a repost from like a decade ago....so if it hasn't happened by now....

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Me, too!

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

If you do the art, ill code the game.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My man!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I like the concept, but the more details the person added the more I felt like it was going the wrong direction. I'd play it though

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Idea guys

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As far as 'game' that is more than it initially seems, I'm reminded of that VR duck hunt game that was around a while back.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Duck Season

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would die a LOT, but I would 100% play this

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Me. Every game. Doesn't matter if it's stardew valley

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Same,I suck at games&always die a lot but I still love playing. Been stuck on the traitor lord boss in hollow knight for last few months

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Didn't markiplier play something like this a long while ago?

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

A Wonderful Day for Fishing, in his video 3 Scary Games #10

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Eyy there it is!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The problem with this though as no one would ever market it as a fishing game because those don’t sell. You’d know the twist going in

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The "doki doki lit club problem"

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Because if you don’t advertise the other 99% of the game it will never sell.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's like D&D campaigns where the players aren't told the genre will change near the beginning. It just ticks people off.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

always fog, your cast always goes farther than you can see. different sounds when the lure hits indicate different things, sometimes none

5 years ago | Likes 474 Dislikes 1

Alright. I have to MVP this. Boats, movement, collect fish, RNG/-time=chance of mutation. Hello April Plans...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, a few times, you hear all your line go out but there is no splash. You reel it back in easily. The hook is gone.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Vizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....BOOOOMMM!!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It'd be like fishing in Silent Hill.

5 years ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 0

Silent Pond...

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

you cast out and hear nothing but there is a tugging on the line until the line begins to lift out of the water and the boss fight begins

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

it begins raining but you don't feel a drop its just the sound of water falling onto the lake and it gets louder and you feel a chill as

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

the cold damp air envelopes you as there is a heavy clap of something striking the water causing white capped waves to surge toward you

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Like the lure doesn't hit anything? It just goes into a vpid?

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

No, just sometimes you can't hear what it hit.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And then the line snaps UP instead on down on a hit. And you can see it ascend as if you just snagged a kraken.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The game starts out impossibly clear skied, sun bright as possible. Around an hour in Tule fog rises from the water just a little at first.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Then thicker and thicker the fog entrenches itself

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

However once you are merged with the boat the skies clear once again, the music is full of chiruping bird

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The only fishing game I'd ever enjoy

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Except you probably wouldn't buy it cause it's marketed as a fishing game.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If I get recommendations from friends or see gameplay videos, I might.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

True. It's honestly a really fun idea.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There's a youtube channel called Alpha Beta Gamer who plays mostly obscure, creepy games, all sans-commentary. He's done like, half a dozen

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

fishing games, several along the lines described here. I suspect a game jam picked up this theme. Worth checking his channel out!

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Skim down the other line of comments for a link to one of the several relevant clips!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes indeedy, came down here checking the comments to make sure someone had mentioned this.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

(also side note: that channel is JUST gameplay, no commentary or reviews or anything. And sometimes you kinda want that)

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Exactly. Though when you want similar (or even the same) gameplay WITH non-annoying commentary, ManlyBadassHero is another good channel.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQX2-QtD01Q one of the various fishing ones, for any who read this far down.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NaOKFZQkhw And a very not-fishing one for the curious.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I love this game concept. Make the party functions be a multiplayer thing? But not needed for someone to play/win the game

5 years ago | Likes 162 Dislikes 2

Stop trying to make everything multiayer

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

UNLESS it be couch coop

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As long as it's like Journey where random players joins hangs out then leaves when they are done.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I havent played Journey so I don’t know exactly what you mean.A system to join a random party is good, also have groups ppl picked themselves

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Journey's multiplayer basically involves "I'm playing this game alone. Oh hello random person! Let's walk and sing together" You only learn

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

their name at the end of your journey. It's a lot of fun and you can get really attached to some rando you've just chimed at a bunch

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I found the EA employee.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Uh no. I am a medical biller but I love playing video games. Don’t like the multiplayer play to win games tho.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Chill, I was just being sarcastic. EA is known for adding multiplayer to everything. Was just amusing for me ?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Ya ever go out and there's that one guy who is only amusing himself and you think, wow that dudes a dick. /s

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They are also known for micro transactions and being dicks. Didn’t know you were being sarcastic you missed the /s

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

How can we tell you're being sarcastic if you don't put in a "/s"? /s

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think if that’s implemented it would have to be in a sandbox mode. The story would kinda lose some oomph if Dan is trying to crack jokes

5 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

All the time. Although that does add a bit to the atmosphere. Maybe you unlock multiplayer after getting any ending?

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

No, it takes some ppl forever to finish a game. What about having two modes? One for single player and one for multi?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Or multiplayer that continues after you log out. Ai takes over for your character if in a party and you are not party leader.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Multiplayer is a randomized world a la minecraft. Single player is a crafted story.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Story Mode and Freeplay Mode?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Having dabbled in game design, this would work well as a story but would struggle as a video game. Maybe a walking simulator, at most.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Agreed. It would be difficult to incorporate everything mentioned into a game that would be approachable.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Game dev here: I think it could work well as a fishing game. Those do exist, but the audience is limited.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fishing games are fun! But the hook (PUN) here is so divorced from the game mechanics. Results in no player agency, disjointed experience.
