This penmanship really matches what I'd expect of someone hanging outside in the evenings with a BB rifle

Plot twist: neighbour was fixing something on his car and got shot out of nowhere

All it takes is a good guy with a gun .....

"Like a good Neighbor ... BB Man is there".

1 week ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

PS - it was a .72 caliber PCP, he's dead now and under your car - you deal with it

Your friendly neighborhood neighbor.

They will never steal the catalytic converter from my EV.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I pre-emptively removed my cats to avoid them from being stolen.

1 week ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Turns out the note was left by a catstrap salesman.

I also choose this guy’s neighbor.

Friendly neighborhood BB gun sniper
Imagine being under a car doing illegal shit and getting 2 bbs in the scalp?

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Why would one be under a car, with their head exposed? Try again. ;)

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That’s where the catalytic converter is. And always do headshots with a BB gun. Crawl under a car I bet I can get you a few times from the right angle taking a prone shooting position. The sniper always has the advantage

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I did not think the sniper would be prone. Crazy you'd have los from any reasonable distance though. I'll take your word for it. :)

You're a pistol, you're really funny. You're really funny.

1 week ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Like Rita Rudner funny.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Strangely, the BB gun is a pretty humane way to deal with a desperate person who's trapped in an eddy of economic disparity the likes of which man has never seen despite having wholly created it

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Might be better than alternatives but still a felony to do. Now airsoft or painball gun - might find a judge/jury to go easy on you.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

When the alternative is a 410 filled with rocksalt, it's practically Nobel worthy in terms of its level of humaneness.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Obvously we don't know about this specific case, but it happens in the Netherlands too and we have a solid welfare system where stealing catalytic converters is a choice, not a necessity. This guy died btw. when the jack failed while under the car. (Prii like the one in the pic, same age and color as mine, seem to have an above average amount of platinum, so more money per theft.) https://imgur.com/DIZq0xk

My mother, born in 1920, had a story about shooting the Postman in the butt with a BB gun from the roof of their garage, circa 1932. She never revealed her motivation, which only enhanced her badass reputation in my eyes.

haha she injured a stranger while they were working 🤣

He was her father

Probably drinking vodka, and playing cards with my grandmother on the old shipping freighters with the Russians. She's 107 and still drinks a little scotch and plays some rummy. Pretty good shot with a rifle as well

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

As a person who had bbguns In my youth, the motivation was almost certainly because there was a bbgun in her hands. Like it is why in my family playing with tools is discouraged. When there is a hammer in your hand everything starts looking like a nail. You can watch it happen in real time, a little tap here or there, I wonder if I can get my knee to do the jerking thing, I'll just tap the window really softly, then disaster. Seriously it is wild how consistent the behavior is.

"I wonder how hard I have to hit this thing before it breaks".

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We're tool users, not tool neglecters!

1 week ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Similar thing with my family. If the men suddenly get quiet it’s because 1 of them is going to grab SOME tool and the heads start banging together, fighting over the single braincell meant for the group. Man have tool, man investigate then fix. Sometimes man break what investigate. Somethin about broken eggs and making an omelette

Everything fits with a hammer!

Catstrap? no, *scribbles out* Catstrap, that's it.

Off we go to Urban Dictionary!

̶C̶a̶t̶s̶t̶r̶a̶p̶ Catstrap

1 week ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

It’s when you strap a cat to the underside of your vehicle whenever it’s left alone. A would be thief is gonna regret getting under there.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think caltrops would work too..

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A strap for the cat...alytic converter

Thanks for the link.

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I think what really makes this funny is they understand what a catstrap is but only uses a BB gun as a deterrent

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They were out of .22 ammo

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The CatStrap mounts onto your exhaust to protect the entire length of the converter and pipe using:

Standard exhaust clamps;
Heat-activated adhesive bond; and
Stainless steel ties.
Between all three attachment mechanisms the strap cannot be removed, it must be cut.

So is this a fake ad to sell the things?

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you.

1 week ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Cool.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

so you need to cut an extra strap to steal the converter... what a challenge for somebody cutting all kinds of shit to steal it xD

1 week ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 13

You don't need to make it impossible. You just need to make it difficult enough, and time-consuming enough, that the thief will move on rather than risk being caught.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's like that annoying plastic blister pack shit that's a pain in the ass to open. It's not *impossible* to shoplift stuff packed in it, it's just annoying enough to make thieves disregard it for an easier target.

1 week ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Dude that's literally how locks work.. they're deterrents, not for prevention. Everything bows down to heat.

1 week ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

And most house door locks can be picked with a broken paperclip. The goal is to make this take more time than a thief wants to spend at risk.

It's like escaping an angry bear. You don't have to run the fastest, just faster than the slowest.

1 week ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's a deterrent, like anything else. A thief will look, decide your car isn't worth the trouble, and move on to an easier target.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No security is truly invincible, the point is to make it not worth the effort. It's entirely possible to steal heavy construction equipment and just straight up pull an entire ATM out of a wall then cart off with it, but if those things rarely contain more than 20-30k then why bother? You might as well try selling the stolen construction equipment, and that ignores the measures keeping the ATM's cash container secure.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's not supposed to make it invincible, it's just supposed to make them go look for an easier target. It's like putting a lock on your bike, it doesn't make it impossible to steal, just makes thieves move to easier targets. That said, my truck has its cat surrounded with 1/2" rebar. Not impossible to cut, but way, way more work.

1 week ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Bro why even put locks on your doors? All your windows are made of very breakable glass.

Dude why use a PIN on your atm card? Anyone could eventually guess it.

Man you have fences around your yard? Name one burglar who couldn't jump a fence.

1 week ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

"name one burglar who couldnt jump a fence"
the robber sitting in the WH atm.

1 week ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

I have the same argument towards people who think adding restrictions to gun laws would fail because criminals would break the law anyway. 'Dude, the point is that if it's harder to do the thing less people do it!'

1 week ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

I don't know about this one but steel braided cable is hard to cut with a sawzall

But I feel like the intent is to make it harder so they just move into the next one that is easier

1 week ago | Likes 81 Dislikes 0

Exactly. Most crimes are a crime of opportunity. Simple deterrents actually do a lot more than people think. Like simply having one of those "Protected by..." signs outside a house stops a lot of theft. Advertising that you have a Ring camera helps too. Even if you don't have one.

1 week ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

BB gun is easier.
