Neat.

Kinda gives me Demelza (from Poldark) vibes. Excellent work!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thankyou! I haven’t watched the show but I’ve seen photos of the costumes, they’re beautiful

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I agree : there's a Demelza feel about it.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good job!

I'm not that good at sewing yet. Need to get me a dress form and serger

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Very clever

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is fantastic! Great work! Perfect for the Hobbit cosplay and renaissance fair.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wow. Great!

In Vienna, women work in banks and go to the opera in dirndls.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Aye, us too! All joking aside; that's great work! Looking very well made!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thankyou! ?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looks good! How much time would you say you've invested into this outfit?

4 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 1

Umm... probably five full days? I’ve been on and off working on it since March

4 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

You had me at “Looks good! How much?”

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

How much have I spent? I think around $50, all the fabric is thrifted and so was relatively cheap and I had the patterns already

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Outstanding work.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fine work! See you at the hofbrau later?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm planning to make some stays like that!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nice!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

OMG - I didn't look at your username till now and I have literally (yesterday) started following you on insta because you're amazing!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh really?! That’s so cool, thankyou ?❤️

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've always wondered... are the white ruffle bits attached or are they a part of a separate under garment?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They are a separate under "dress" called a chemise.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah it’s a chemise underneath, with a gathered neckline

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am looking at making a similar style one for a corset I was gifted. Any recommendations?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I made this one with the Simplicity 5582 pattern

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Usually it's a chemise (a separate undergarment) if it's an accurate period piece. Gets hot during summer Ren faires.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thank you everyone! I knew the internet could educate me

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I now require excessive amounts of Bier!!!!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a costumer myself, your symmetry and alignment of patterns is immaculate. Wow—quality work. OCD happy feels

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Yes - that's *exactly* what I was picking up on, just without the vocabulary to describe it. Thank you.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thankyou! I had to go through every pattern I had for one that allowed me to pattern match ???

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

(I had a very limited piece of fabric to work with)

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I hear that! It’s clear you planned this strategically and with precision. Absolutely perfect!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is there boning in the corset? It appears shaped, but I can't tell if you're using panels or not.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Depending on the period, the boning may be more likely to be in the clothing itself rather than the under garment. Sometimes both too though

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks for asking! There’s boning in front to support the eyelets, but I’m also wearing a proper pair of stays underneath it all

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Bonus points for the pair of stays. Seems like a forgotten piece.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not really forgotten, they just evolved into corsets. The terms are often used interchangeably. My personal thinking leans: stays make me -

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

think, no or very little boning & primarily bust/back support. Corsets more likely to be boned + shape the body as well as support things.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't ask personal questions - that's rude. She can bone in whatever she wants.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Does it have pockets?

4 years ago | Likes 713 Dislikes 10

Cleavage pocket

I've started asking girls this question in RL and they're usually stoked, like I "get" them because of it.

4 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

The way to a girl's heart is through her pockets.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

What is the layer under the chemise? I can't tell what that is...

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Chemise is usually the first thing put on, later options were camisole + split drawers or "combinations"

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Right, but in her picture she has something with green on it underneath of her chemise.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My apologies, thought it was a decretive trim, I see it now...

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Best I can guess she's dressed: stays>chemise>bodice, but it might be shift>stays>chemise>bodice

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It has openings in the skirt sides, where they will be waist-tied pockets underneath ? So yes, yes there will be

4 years ago | Likes 572 Dislikes 1

I’m already married, but I’m down for polyandry!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

No, only polylaundry for you - you have to do everyone's laundry

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Yaaaaaasss pockets!

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Perfect!

4 years ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 0

Holy mother of pockets, it is a miracle!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have the real question here: they're going to be DUMPSTER-FIRE pockets, right???

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, as much as I like the design it doesn’t fit the costume I have in mind

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love waist tied pockets!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

whew... major imgur crisis avoided... or at least postponed.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Waist tied pockets?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What pockets was originally! a pouch tied to your waist accessed through slits in the skirt.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sounds like easy access for fun times.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean, I'd just lift the skirts instead of fiddling with the pocket slits, but you do you!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Lol, my sister got into sewing just so she could add pockets to dresses

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

What is a waist tied pocket?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A pouch (with a slit for access) attached to a cord/string that can be worn over or under skirts, if under the skirt is made with slits

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

belt with pockets hanging.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It will be between the top skirt and the structure underneath, but not attached to the outer layer so it won't disrupt the over all shape.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

if you are not yet aware, POCKETS: https://youtu.be/phFUTqoW5B8

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm sooo glad it will have pockets. Great jobe OP!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh damn, I was gonna assume no but hidden pockets for costumes is nice. I desperately need pockets

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Historically waist-tied pockets can be worn over or under skirts.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is apparently historically how pockets were handled! Bernadette Banner on youtube talks about it!

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Bernadette Banner is DA BEST! Her attitude and dedication to detail is wonderful!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I made a historical pocket for my Belle cosplay that sat on top, but I think for this one I’ll just have them hidden under the skirts ☺️

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Just so you know, nice choice of emoji. Because you are super fucking cool.

Burn the Witch. Burn the witch!

No ? She just gets incredibly angry at not having anywhere to put her phone

4 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

"We found a witch. May we burn 'er?"

4 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

How do you know she’s a witch?

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

I’m sorry but after a couple beers in on a Saturday night this is my favorite comment! Well played sir/madam! +1 and +1 for pocketsessss

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I am neither a sir nor a madam. I am just a guy making his way through the world.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Should maybe amend your username then, Sir. ???
