I work on on the railway, 10 hour days every day away from home. Until this whole covid 19 thing blows over. On day 18 as of today

That's what I tried to say when I was born..

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"essential employees" to be called wage slaves for accuracy

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

We where just kids man... we where never meant to be here!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Human nature to fucking blame anything and everything for what is happening, someone's gotta be to blame, yeah, the virus.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*none of us signed up for this shit. But it’s happening and it’ll happen again.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm a HVAC tech...doing absolutely nothing "essential". It's fucked bullshit.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I honestly hope after this is all over retail / market employees unionize.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But $2 extra per hour maybe $46 extra dollars per week. And $39 after taxes to pay for all the unemployed people

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's better idea to bail out corporations...because of Trickle Down Economics...it's working so well.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My wife as a nurse gets told "This is what you signed up for" so I guess this is what we all signed up for :l

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fine. Then quit and let me work. I need a fucken job.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I worked for a grocery store for 11 years. No one is making them work there but with all the unemployment maybe they should just suck it up

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Jeff Bezos thanks you.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Jesus christ there's a lot of right-wing idiots commenting on this.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Truck driver, here. Normally I pull and set up structures for concerts. Instead, I’m temporarily hauling freight. I go into truck stops 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

freight offices/loading docks throughout my workday. More often than not, I’m the only person wearing a mask. WTF? 2/2

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

When the [front office receptionist] tells you not to worry about wearing a [mask], that's exactly when you should wear one.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exactly. Would you believe I’ve encountered ridicule over it? *looking at you Florida and Georgia Wtf?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

+1 In Canada they're giving "relieff" on avg of 2000/person to people who lost their jobs. I work at wally and don't even make that!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This I agree with. Medical people, yeah you kind of did know infectious disease might be part of the job unfortunately.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes you did

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Dont like it? Quit

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I mean she can quit, it's not like you're being stopped. I worked fast food for 8 years, I quit and got a better job. Buddy a truck driver,

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 10

He's still going and he's not complaining. Other friend works at a wire/cable DC center, hes still working and not complaining and I

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

Guarantee they are working way harder than this chick stocking shelves.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

Yeah, let me just quit in a global pandemic, and go to the job forrest where jobs grow on jobtrees.

6 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

What is the employer supposed to do? Magick PPE into existence when there’s a shortage for health care workers? Close the supermarket until>

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

PPE is available? If you only look at one side it’s easy to say ‘not fair’ but what is the actual solution?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The only reason businesses pay minimum wage or don't provide PPE is because you let them. Walk out, en masse. Force their hand.

6 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 6

And sadly because a lot of PPE are lacking. Not enough for hospitals, so for stores...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Contact your local Union rep first so they can't fire you for trying to organize.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Minimum wage is over €2000/month, highest in the world. Even that isn't too bad to be honest.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Or not en mass, just by yourself. You don't need a consensus to advicate for yourself.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

But I do need a job to get money and pay my bills, especially in these troubled and uncertain times.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's a choice either way and both have risks. Whatever happens next is a reflection of your choice.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Sure, but individuals walking out won't change the status quo. If you want them to change conditions, collective action is the key.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Yeah but if you stay becuase no one else goes what exactly are you standing for?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Last month: Minimum wage workers don't deserve a living wage. This month: They're all heroes for working through the crisis! Next month: -

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Minimum wage workers don't deserve a living wage.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Bold of you to assume this is only gonna last one month

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I'm trying to be as optimistic as possible.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How is a minimum wage of ~€2100/month not a "living wage"? Is it not enough to pay off the Porsche and your second apartment? ^^

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

O_O Where the hell do you live that you get 2100 Euros a month as minimum wage?! I'm in the US, 2300$ a month is more than my biweekly as-

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

an engineer!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's the min wage in Luxembourg, which is where this post is about. https://countryeconomy.com/national-minimum-wage/luxembourg

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a fair argument. They should get compensated for their trouble. Thank yous and appreciation posts on the internet are not enough.

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Companies will pay what it takes to fill the position. Keep working for nothing, and they will keep paying nothing.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I understand that this is satire. Seriously, though, none of us signed up for this. It is what it is. I'm scared too.

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

You get forced to work at gunpoint? Damn, that's crazy.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

I don't understand how you reached that conclusion. Force isn't usually required for people to do their jobs.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh, so like they don't have to do a job they feel is endangering them? They can just quit? That's crazy!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

While I agree that stockers didn't sign up for this shit, as a paramedic, it pisses me the fuck off when RNs say they didn't sign up (1/2?)

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

for this shit. Yes, we did, we may not have considered how bad it'd get, but it was there. I once drove around roadblocks so I could (2/3?)

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

get to a fire station while there was rioting going on...because there was rioting going on. I made my choice, I accept the (3/4, I think).

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

consequences. It may not be fair, but it's my choice. To say otherwise would be bullshit. (4/4!)

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you. Please stay safe.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They just implemented new rules for grocery stores in my state. Half occupancy, one way aisles, workers must wear gloves & masks, and stores

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My local grocery store with local products: max 3 people inside (it's a small shop), wash your hands when you enter (soap and water provided

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To install plexiglass barriers between customers and cashiers.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Luxembourg has the highest reported rate of positive cases. About 1 in every 300 people.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Just don't ask Imgurians who's to blame for that..

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

False, highest is Vatican. 8739/1M pop (ok, it's only 7 cases) https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah I saw that- Luxembourg is their on that list. The one I was using was one I made and I didn’t include the Vatican.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So one person in the whole country has tested positive? Easy fix, lock them in a closet for 2 weeks and you're good.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

VERY tiny country, not even close to a million people. about 1/5th of which lives in one city. Not entirely fair to compare

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This isn’t a “we are better” statement. 1 in 300 is 1 in 300 regardless of the size of the population.Spain is 1 in 500, The US is 1 in 1500

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nah, virusses cluster in hot spots. Most countries with lots of infected have just a few cities that have a very large amount of the cases.>

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

> see new york for example. Luxembourg is basically just one city with a bit of outlying terrain.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

density of population is important. And test amount. Iceland has a very high rate, but could test evrybody. Some only test ppl in hospital.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Your right. I haven't had a cold one in a while tho.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I would, or get myself fired for unemployment pay. Fuck that shit for minimum wage. Especially in the USA where we don’t take care of anyone

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Yeah, who needs money for food or rent.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Flawless logic 10/10.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Maybe she needs to eat?

6 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 2

Then don’t quit

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

Of course! Let the ghosts take over...

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From a different perspective; employers are to make reasonable accommodations for disabled persons, how is this different?

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

My job gives insurance. I'm going to need it when I eventually get sick. I have 3 high risk in my family.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At least in the US, that would mean she wouldn't get unemployment. She'd starve or lose her place of residence.

6 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 6

No, you can quit with good cause. Health safety would easily qualify for that.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Earning minimum wage" - yeah, quit. Your life is worth more than minimum wage. If everyone did it, they might actually get them PPE.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

Minimum wage in Luxembourg is 11.55 €/hour (but life's expensive). If you quit you're not eligible for unemployment allowance.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You’re right, her life is worth more. But she has bills to pay,she wouldn’t collect unemployment, and no one is hiring right now.

6 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

I made that mistake. Quit my last job willingly to get a better job. Now I don’t qualify for unemployment. Desperate for work right now.

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Show up late, leave early and skip shifts until you're fired. Where there is a will there is a way.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 15

If you are fired due to a break in policy it’s considered your fault and unemployment would be delayed if not denied entirely.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

If this was a normal period of time I would agree.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It may still be delayed

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At least in Germany if you're fired for those kinds of reasons it'll be hard to collect unemployment as well, prob to avoid exactly that

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Ya same in the US some people just have no moral value

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

But agree some sort of hazard pay is in order here

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Em for those who don't know (so basically everyone) Luxwurst is a luxemburgish satire magazine, basically a bad version of the Onion.

6 years ago | Likes 829 Dislikes 2

Doesn’t mean this isn’t true

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I liked this article.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately it is quite the reality for those guys. They're the mosts exposed along with with medical workers. On second note, I have1/

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not been pulled over a single time since it all started . I used to get pulled over at least once a week . Not because I'm doing anything 2/

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wrong , vut because none of my information pops up when the run my plates . Name and driver's license info comes up as unknown in their 3/

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

System is what I get told every time I get pulled over . So they just check up, out of curiosity maybe .No I'm not special type of anything

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a grocery store employee this isn't satire.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At over €2000/month, LUX is already has the highest minimum wage in the world anyhow, it could be worse.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In Australia, we have https://www.betootaadvocate.com/ which is similar.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Regardless its already very very obvious this is a joke headline.

6 years ago | Likes 104 Dislikes 1

Do you think the grocery store workers knew what they were getting into? Seems off color but also just a statement of fact tbh.

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

See. With this name I'd always assume so... It is brilliant

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was my understanding that this was a parody of people who sign up for actual risky careers and then complain about it.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Live there,never heard of it.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No I live here! get out

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can’t,lock down ,tried.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Schlecht version vum feierkrop

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

? moien

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ya, but this isn't satire...

6 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 0

That's why I said bad version of the onion, they aren't very good at the whole "satire thing".

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

TBF, it's been really hard the last 5 years

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Also they make more than minimum normally, around 3k a month. Still not much but still

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Wtf that is 18.75 an hour at full time or closer to 20 if that is in euros. Starts at like 10-12 bucks an hr here.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They should all be getting hazard pay

6 years ago | Likes 1168 Dislikes 14

Or the grocery stores demand curb side pickup, negating for limiting human contact.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If the companies aint giving them sick leave or even maternity leave thats basically like asking them to consider them as human beings.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

They would close the store first! "essential employee"? More like mandated to the battlefield.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A battlefield where you're given nothing but a towel and with fellow soldiers being retarded and drawing enemy fire on you.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I work retail. People are yelling at me for not having a mask and gloves. Like, seriously?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And.... If you don't want me touching your items, guess what dipshit, I'm the one who put it on the fucking shelf. So I already touched it!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Store I'm at is doing +$2 for every hour you work March and april. So $600 to risk the life of me and my family.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Tax dollars should be paying for bonuses to all those who still have to work. I'm thinking at least time and a half.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So much hazard pay!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I work for colruyt, a chain in Belgium, for each hour worked they receive another one in overtime which was pretty nice

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm a shift manager at a New Zealand wholesaler, deemed essential. I would love hazard pay, but instead I'm being asked to sacrifice my (1)

6 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

health and the health of my excellent team, when last week they were paid less than the new minimum wage, even for night work. (2)

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

I'm trying to put on a brave face for my guys, but the truth is I'm terrified. (3/3)

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Contact your local Union representative immediately and start organizing.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Walk out demonstration over the pay?

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

The pay comment is slightly misleading, the national minimum wage was due to increase, but was postponed due to the COVID lockdown

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Where I work we get 2$ an hour appreciation pay for the foreseeable future. But that's being reevaluated as at least our store has slowed

6 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

I work construction and we get an extra 2$ more an hour. Thats our Covid-19 hazard pay. Oh, and it says in bold, underlined words, temporary

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Down. Still busy but much slower than the start. kroger apparently gave 150$ in store credit to part timers, 300 to full timers.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Not store credit. Bonus on our pay checks and starting next week we are getting +2$ every hour we work. (Frys, Arizona)

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And I've heard another store give just 100$ to their employees last week. Those 2 stores I've no idea if they are going to do it every week.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well, with how things are going, panic buying is gonna have an uptick - that's just my opinion, though.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wegmans employee?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nah, Acme.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do mind that this is a joke and the minimum wage in LUX is over €2100/month. It's a very small but rich country.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They should receive a raise for this. The supermarkets are definitely making plenty of money.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think my boss said around 3x thel normal sales

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm a grocery store vendor going to 7 stores a day. They gave us no additional compensation

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My store we are getting gift card to the store

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hazard pay of $2 more is nothing.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Imagine it tipped you over a tax threshold and you ended up with net less.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

My work gave us $2/hr more, and cut everyone's hours. I'll be making approx. $200 less this paycheck. They told us to file underemployment.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

$2/hr is pathetic in the first place, Amazon pays it's factory workers more than that extra just for working nightshift here in the uk.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

But it's slave labor in the US.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

http://www.ufcw.org/

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wow, thank you for this!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Time and a half at least.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Working in healthcare in direct contact with corona-patients, we don't get hazard pay either ..

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One of the supermarkets in the UK is giving bonuses to workers currently.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At Vons they gave us cold soggy in n out yesterday! But we're only allowed one pair of gloves cuz we're almost out. So you know, pros/cons.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude I asked for hazard pay when my work wanted Kyle to go to Tijuana. I was laughed at. It's like everybody thinks bad things can't happen.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank goodness I didn't have to go. But I still felt for my coworker who did. Yes, Tijuana is dangerous. No I don't trust hired security.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I work at a local hotel that was designated essential. First thing our company did was give us bonus hazard pay as a thanks.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I don't get it. We have malti people who got it where I work and one death. But I'm I guess critical for national security. 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They said I can take a three day weekend next week tho2/2

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The minimum wae for essential services should be essentially more!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

$2/h is our hazard pay until may 2nd maybe longer if people keep over stocking

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I work at Tesco Ireland and they give me an incredible 10% bonus per month.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We got our staff discounts doubled in all connected stores, as well as 10% of liquor. Tbh i'm pretty happy with that.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

While I don't disagree, I wonder where the line gets drawn. I'm essential and have to have public interactions (much less) to do my job..

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At Coles in Australia we were just told that we would not get any extra leave for the virus, have to use our own 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

annual/sick leave and no extra pay. However our employee discount increased by 5% which feels like an insult at this point. 2/2

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I work security and we've received a "thank you" letter and a whole lot of avoidance when it comes to the subject of hazard pay.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Our company gave us a couple bonuses. But I wish we got a tax break on it. :/

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hazard pay 2 bucks more a hr. What a joke

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dragons don't willingly give up their gold.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But then CEOs could only afford to buy the silver-plated shark tank bar instead of the gold one! Think of the corporations!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I imagine their pay would significantly increase if their coworkers started quitting due to the dangers at work.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But since so many people are out of work, they can be easily replaced

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, no, I mean that’s why the price of labor would increase

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

People are desperate for work, so they are willing to take a pay cut just for a job

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

SHOW ME THE MONEY!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My husband works in a factory which makes industrial food prep machines and they are claiming to be indispensable so he has to go to work

6 years ago | Likes 228 Dislikes 5

Pointlessly

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I work in a factory that makes windows and doors and they are claiming that we’re essential

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That’s because construction projects don’t seem to stop for anything.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In my province, any on going construction can keep going but no new ones can start unless its an emergency type.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I quit my factory job yesterday. It's not worth my life.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm building induastrial laser machines. And the people that buy them can't afford them anymore! We still work though.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Equipment does breakdown and needs to be replaced. The last thing you need is disruption of food supply lines now.

6 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

Safety regulation on food equipment is extremely high as well. Chances are this guy is in 0 danger. People just love over reacting.

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 5

What has safety regulations on food equipment got to do with the fact that he will be coming into contact with hundreds of people?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mostly the sterility of the environment for the equipment he is working on and assembling.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It doesnt actually have to be sterile until it gets to the factory where they make the food, it's not like making microchips

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Food prep machines for restaurants or like food production factories? Those are all still mostly open and equipment does break and will 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Need to be replaced if unfixable. I would count it as essential.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm sure they don't make any equipment "on demand " they hff ave stock, so do dealers.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also depends if they ship out of state, or country. But yes, they probably dont but what happens if this lasts much longer than expected 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And they run out of stock? That could disrupt the food production chain and be devastating.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I suppose it depends on time frame. If lockdown was only for 3 months I dont think anything terrible would happen if they closed. In the

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

long term, yes, it would be a problem if they closed and machines started breaking and couldn't be replaced

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We are talking huge machines, like the things they mass produce beer in

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

a food dispenser is indispensable. nyuk nyuk.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Work a place that uses food machines same here

I guess essential if they needed to transition to making medical devices? I don’t see why they couldn’t just call people back if needed 2/2

My work opened back up yesterday and today's my first day back (personal reasons) I took 20 calls in 9 hours and that's it.

As grateful I am to have a few hours I don't think construction is really all that essential right now.

If the trades stop, all the money stops moving. Trade dollars recirculate into the economy an average of 3 times as much as any other dollar

Is your husband Donnie?

Half the problem is that there are still people buying his companies products. No demand would mean no need to supply.

if the demand for ready to eat food wasn't there companies wouldn't need the machines, but lots of people now need it

Hmm. Food prep machines. Most have motors, metal, fans. They could be essential if they converted to making ventilators.

All the stuff they manufacturer has to be sterile as well because it's used in food.

I think they sterilise at the factory where the machine will be used

If you're not in a risk group, I don't think a normal work place like a factory is particularly high risk. If you meet lots of people 1/2

sure. If authorities say eveyone should stay home, sure. But just going to work meeting your usual coworkers? That doesn't seem high risk.

Your coworkers can be carriers unwittingly and turn you into another carrier that goes home to family.

Of course. That doesn't change one thing I just said. I go to work, see my coworkers. It's an office in my case, but close enough. 1/2

Huge difference compared to store clerks that meet hundreds if not thousands of new people eaech day. 2/2

Break rooms and we have 900 employees, they have us short sleeves to wear over our face

I still maintain that there is lots that can be done without shutting down the place. Personal awareness of distance, extra careful 1/2

hygiene, changing break times so not everyone takes it at the same time, other measures to keep intermingling of people low 2/2
