#4 that's not a very fun fact

#7 is genius. If you pay taxes already at that age, you should have a right to vote how your taxes are used

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

The Nixon/Satchmo story is a great one, but totally false; fails fact checks.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

These things are always suspect, but I do know that the USDA has a min. level for things like insect parts and fecal matter (IE, it's not 0)

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

It's physically impossible to keep insect parts out of food completely.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

True, but those insect parts are in everything, not just chocolate... So if you're allergic to all processed foods then sure, that's it

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Surely it's a max level, not a min level?

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Now, the government feeds us a minimum amount of shit every day

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"... chocolate can legally contain up to 60 insect fragments per 100 grams."

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Here's 2000 lbs of wheat/coffee beans/peanuts/whatever. Your job is to make sure there are no ants in it. Good luck.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This kind of FDA legislation applies to dozens, if not hundreds of foods. Peanut butter was the first litigated.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Same with rice. There are lots of shocking tolerances.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I individually wash my grains of rice with a rice grain washer.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

#17 both are even numbers

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

It is supposed to be even and odd thousands; so 34 and 35 respectively. Not sure if applicable in commercial flight (FAR/AIM 91.159)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You are technically correct. The best kind of correct.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The actual rule is to refer the flight level (35000 ft is FL 350) divided by 10, so 35, which is odd, or 34 which is even

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

And wasn’t it the same rule for north/south but on the 500’s?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If I remember correctly... source: I used to be a flight instructor but holy shit I forget the boring stuff quickly

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I get what the fact is stating about airplanes. But 34K and 35K are both even numbers...

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I believe they mean 34 (thousand) vs. 35 (thousand), could be wrong.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I heard Prince also had full movies he'd filmed along with the music recordings

5 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

Red rain, blue rain, green rain, yellow rain...

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

chocolate rain?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

One rain, two rain, purple rain, endless pain.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Kevin Smith has a great bit about this in one of his college tour videos.

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I loved his Prince story from An Evening with Kevin Smith. Just saw Jimmy Fallon tell a Prince Ping Pong story. Common threads, I thought.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Indeed, that's where I heard it! Really made Prince look bad. "If the bra fits" ...

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

"Wolverines, which are much easier to train than dogs"? I'm gonna require citation on that one. Wolverines are vicious lil fuckers.

5 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

Hope they untrain the eating part ...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Alaska man who owns two wolverines proposes training them for search and rescue" is a more accurate summary.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've seen the training, it is really cool, but if a wolverine tries to dig me out of an avalanche I'm going to start digging deeper. 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

2/2 it was amazing to see a 37lbs wolverine pull a almost 200lbs man out of a snow bank by his glove

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Vicious, but will sit when asked;)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe specifically easier to train for avalanche rescue? But yeah, citation fucking needed

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Enjoyable way to pass the time.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

#19 so what happened to my body my choice

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wait... I want that Prince thing to happen!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

#19 Please tell me that this was a sarcastic bill designed to expose the stupidity of bans on women's reproductive freedoms. Otherwise, it's

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

just the new eugenics, & I hate it.

These QEII cows thinking like their shit don't stink... When I drive past, it smells like every other farm, only with posh neighbours

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Only if they’re spreading though. Don’t really smell anything any other time.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#16 tomacco

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#17 Those are technically both even numbers.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#20 AKA just in case you hadn't caught on yet, we're making this shit up.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#6 I’m allergic to the caffeine in chocolate. It’s the first caffeine kids are usually given, so it’s what first triggered an attack.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But how do you stop the Wolverines from eating the survivors once they’ve found them?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Who says you stop them?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Training.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah yes, the Instagram "fact" site that posts largely made-up or misleading facts

5 years ago | Likes 263 Dislikes 3

Erm... You mean, this _isn't_ satirical comedy?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The corn oxygen one is insanely misleading. Natural rainforest vs. monoculture that requires millions of tons of fertilizer and herbicide.

5 years ago | Likes 90 Dislikes 1

No, no. according to the comments these are all true and fascinating

5 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 0

Most of these I'll insta-forget... But I'm a londoner, every weekend, "Oi fellas let's have a naughty Stand Bitch"-"You bitching the pot?"

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Indeed they do :)

Nixon's pot and Cockroach's chocolate check good. That's all the vermin I will research tonight.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I can verify the even/odd altitudes one. In addition IFR traffic flies at exact 1000's while VFR traffic flies at +500 feet. 1/2.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

What's IFR and VFR?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This means, for example, that westbound VFR traffic will fly at 4500, 6500, 8500, etc. 2/2

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I just want everyone to know that I researched this myself and that 35,000 ft is in fact an EVEN number

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Got some citation on that? I’m still not sure. I see two odd numbers, does that make it even and 34,000 odd because the sum is odd?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

/a/0DO0FJx Always good to show your work

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It ends in a 0 so it's an even number. But just so you know they were talking about the 34 and 35 parts. Not the 0 parts.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wow. Three months later and you couldn’t sense my sarcasm and felt the need to explain even an odd numbers.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It seemed like you didn't know how numbers work. I was just trying to help you out ?

That camel one... ew....

5 years ago | Likes 418 Dislikes 0

The things women do not to conceive

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s an ancient euphemism

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you think the camel spit’s gross you’re going to be blown away by the things babies do

5 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

I've had 2, one of them threw up in my mouth and I think the camel spit is worse.

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

I'm not fucking any woman that drinks camel spit. Pretty sure that would work in modern times

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Whos gonna go near a woman who drinks camels spittle? Eating turds is probably also an effective contraceptive!

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

That encourages her husband to go fifth base with a camel, thereby achieving birth control.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How the heck did they find that out?!

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Maybe it's the guy who discovered cow's milk!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A lot would argue it's less gross than the baby. Assuming it works, of course.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Better than belladonna in Italy yah?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I guess if you're too nauseous to want to schtup, maybe it works?!

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I mean, if you knew she was the kind of girl to swill camel foam, what other nastiness might she be up to? Pretty good birth control. Then

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

again i bat for the other team and have no idea what im talking about

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well in ancient Egypt dried crocodile dung was used as a pessary...ewww

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Wtf is pessary?

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

You just had to fucking ask

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well I did. But, how did you get down here?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I didn't actually want to know

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

a small soluble block that is inserted into the vagina to treat infection or as a contraceptive.

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I regret knowing this, please erase this knowledge from my mind.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They're both born already thankfully!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mice were used as pregnancy-test

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh and there was a test for confirming someone was or was not the father, that will make u puke

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mixing a little bit poo from the father with milk and give it to the baby. If the baby gets sick, the man was not the father.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Please dont try this. That Test does not work and will make the baby sick.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I need to know

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If it works, it works ?‍♀️

5 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 0

They didn't say that though.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Iguess.gif

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Did it tho

5 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

I guess I would keep my distance from any woman with camel saliva frothing from their mouth.

5 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

Same. It's the best birth control if no one would even get close to you.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Would you go near someone that you witnessed chowing down on camel slobber?

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sorry, that reaction just made me snort coke. Cola, that is, out my nose.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#3 young, fast growing plants produce way more oxygen than old growth forests. Old forests about break even on oxygen they make vs take in

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 2

also don't forget that the Amazon is also getting cut down en masse so that lowers it even more

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Difference is, rain forests produce all year long while stuff like corn peaks only for a short span of weeks

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

and forests sequester carbon in the soil, whereas conventional corn fields do not, and also release greenhouse gases when tilled

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Old forests certainly hold a lot more carbon. I was only talking about the oxygen they produce. Old forests consume about what they produce

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I can hardly express how unbelievably basic/moronic that statement is. Your comparing a fully functioning ecosystem that has worked for

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

(2) millions of years to a monocrop that needs constant watering, fertilising and is rapidly destroying any sort of functioning soil.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

(3) no wonder this planet is fucked

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I didnt say it was a good thing. I didnt say it was better. I simply stated the fact that young, fast growing species release more oxygen.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Also, the corn crop grows for what, 2 months?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Google and seems 120 days on average for new hybrids. We always said it had to be knee high by the 4th of July for a good crop

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It’s more that older forests have non floral inhabitants that heavily skew the footprint. ‘Tigers don’t sleep in fields.’ Or something....

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Older trees use up about as much as they make. Younger produce more than they use

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Source?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

milked at their own leisure? wtf does that mean?

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

They go when they feel like it rather than when they are sent to be milked and each cow has a tag so the machine knows which cow is there

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

so bizarre

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

After they get milked they then can go get a robot massage if you want bizarre

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cows, and most mammals' udders/breasts become very painful unless they are regularly milked once they start to lactate

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

oh, i'm aware, i just think the 'at their leisure' part is misleading/a nicety

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If the cows feel like it, they go to the milking station and get automatically milked by a robot.

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

And if you’re wondering if they’d want it, yes. Being full of/engorged with milk is uncomfortable so they would go when they felt the need.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Also, usually robotic milking machines dispense food, so they learn to go there when they're hungry.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It slightly more complex than that. The machine knows which cow it’s milking and when it was last milked and how much milk it gave.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If the cow returns to the machine too soon it’ll get booted out without any food. The amount of food given is carefully controlled

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

To supplement the pasture the cows live on. It’s amazing to see these cows and automated milking machines in action.
