Ah!! I meant to write winter. Idk why I wrote summer

...and I can’t sleep WITH the fan on. Discuss

How is this a problem? It's everyone else that's weird.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Don’t care how cold or hot that fan runs 24/7.. ever since I was five. 47 now. Silence is torture.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Dammit Facebook has been leaking so much more lately.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Even when it's cold outside I love to have the fan on.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Right there with ya, OP. Impossible for me to sleep without a fan on. My body needs to be warm but I must have airflow to the face.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do not move to south korea then. You will be very unhappy with their fan death beliefs

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Unless im dying from heat, i hate artificial wind

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yep. I also have one of those "sounds of nature" things. Thunder and rain works for me.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I too need my fan on all year round. I can't sleep if I'm hot.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

SO's fan always on, me always under sixty layers of blankets, leeching warmth, still cold.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is exactly how I sleep, fan on at the foot of my bed blowing over me in ANY season... unless it is balls shrinking cold out.. Then not!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Same here. My ears ring nonstop for the past 27 years, I go insane if without a fan. Take one on vacations, and a battery one for camping.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mine too, white noise is the best

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Absolutely. Drives my girlfriend nuts

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Same here...for the last 20 years. Even my wife had to get used to it. Now she has the same problem lol

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Fan and a white noise machine. Was a sailor once upon a time and sleeping on ships forever ruined any possibility of sleeping in silence.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I use the fan in the winter because the sound helps me sleep and, since I’m post-menopausal, it helps with the hot flashes.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Frankly, I can sleep just fine whether or not your fan is on.

Good one, Dad.

I personally like it on, it gets stuffy under their bed without it on.

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

That’s why you hide in the closet, much better circulation.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

for the creep

I can’t sleep unless the petite Asian girl is standing nude beside the bed fanning me with her silk scarf.

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

What colour scarf?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ME WANT. WHERE FIND?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Its all fun and games till you wake up with a sore throat from ghost blowjobs!

8 years ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 3

But the ghost haunting me is a girl? Does that mean it isn't drool on my face?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ecto plasm ????

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Guess she had a boo-gasm... that was a bad joke

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I need moving air.

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

I just live in Florida, the air here is like warm soup.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Likewise, unless there's A/C

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Asthmatic and same.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I used to have this commercial grade giant metal ceiling fan in my bedroom cause I'm a contractor and I got a great deal, anyways...

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I pump that thing up to max speed at night every night before I hop in bed, it was like a wind tunnel but I loved it until I...

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Was changing my shirt one morning and lifted my arms up over my head in the wrong spot and that thing destroyed my hand, huge cut

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So you're not a fan any more, I take it?

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I can't sleep with my clothes on. It gets real awkward in airports and on road trips.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I don't think I've ever turned mine off

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Got tinnitus, fan needed.

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Yep. I think I could sleep without it if I tried but I don't want to try

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That's the truth, without it I wouldn't be able to sleep b/c of the bitch tinnitus is.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Mawp

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Summer makes sense. Dead ass of winter is the weird thing.

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 3

If you point it up at an angle, it circulates the warm air up top into the rest of the room.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I meant winter !!

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 4

Oh good!

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Ever been to Arizona? Dead-ass winter is still hot.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Good point!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was gonna say, most people like it cool in the summer. :p

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Mine is for sure for the sound

8 years ago | Likes 217 Dislikes 0

I have a white noise machine for that.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I thought i was the only one.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I like moving air but tons of white noise, prerecorded AC/Dryer/Car engines etc.. online. My fav to put me out is looped Enterprise engines.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Me too, it relaxes my mind and help me to not to think

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Personally I prefer hair dryers and vacuum cleaners (I have hours and hours of MP3s of the stuff), but that sort of noise is bliss for sure.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

We use mynoise.net as a noise maker for my daughters. You might find it interesting.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Amazing

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yep. Can't sleep without ambient noise.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

There are probably phone apps for that. There are for white noise/etc

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Me too. Tinnitus is a bitch.

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

This right fucking here

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Mine for sound and air movement

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I got rid of the fan and now use brown noise on an echo dot. Loving it

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same. My dog sleeps in my room and she can get restless at night. She's also blind so she bumps into shit. The fan is a godsend

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Me too. However I couldn't have it on in winter so I found an app that makes the sound. There are a bunch out there

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same here, sound mostly but I do enjoy the air circulation too.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unless you hear music coming from the white noise, then you are in trouble lol

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Why?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fans generate what's known as 'pink noise' which is random noise with equal energy per octave with more low frequency components >>

8 years ago | Likes 105 Dislikes 2

This is interesting! I've downloaded and purchased white noise makers before and its never the same as having a fan on.....thanks!

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

>> While both white and pink are good for falling asleep, pink noise helps you stay asleep longer as well as helps your memory.

8 years ago | Likes 69 Dislikes 0

"Pink" noise, lmao, that sounds made up. Anyqay, I can´t sleep when there is noise, a mouse farting will wake me up. Noisy fan? Are you mad?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Brown noise beats them both imo

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What if your fan doesn’t spin properly? I have trouble falling asleep with it on.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'd suggest getting a new fan, then. Not trying to be sarcastic, man. But if you're like me and need the noise, it's worth the investment.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

they are only like $16 new at wal-mart right now

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Huh, And now I'm smarter

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Nah, you just know more.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What else generates pink noise? Thx for the info btw!

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

iirc, this benefit only exists if there's background noise that would otherwise disturb you. The pink noise covers it up. Silence is best.

8 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

this, this exact thing, Yes.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

True. But for the silent sleepers having pink noise once they're asleep facilitates a deeper sleep and still helps with memory.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is it silent if I can hear ringing in my ears, though?

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Yeah that’s why I have my fan on all year, concerts when young ruined my ears apparently

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Damn you tinnitus. you are a cruel mistress. https://imgur.com/PwYgXH0

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Actually, I don’t have tinnitus...calling it a ringing was probably misleading. It’s just not absolute silence. I’m probably just not used

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

False, silence is the worst. I can not sleep it's silent. It makes me nervous

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

It can take time to adapt, but I recall a study that found true silence had the least disrupted sleep. City noises were the most.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That makes no sense. Humans slept in caves. You’d be hearing crickets and water dripping and fire cracking all night long.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You’d think evolutionarily that’s what would be best.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

maybe the most well off got to be in more secure deeper caves. less noise. they were the only ones who got silence

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fan on next to my bed all year long

8 years ago | Likes 364 Dislikes 0

Used to sleep next to an air vent as a baby. Life long fan sleeper

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can hear my own thoughts and blood without a fan. Cannot sleep without for the last 16 years.

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Tinnitus ensures I need background noise when I lay on my right side so fans are pretty good for that.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I started using one in the military due to a roommate that snored like a bear raping a chainsaw. Used one ever since.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Why? Why must I picture everything said? Made me lol though.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I thought I was the only one...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I sleep with ear plugs on, it's been that way for 10 years. I am the lightest sleeper ever. Ear plugs in and i can hear a pin hit the floor.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

that’d be me as well haha

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Work in data center all I hear is fans all day. No want fans

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah mine just wore out, squealed like a banshee. New one isn't as good as the old one. Different sound.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is me. I'm a hot sleeper and stress sleep. Only 96lbs and I sweat and radiate heat like crazy! That fan must be on me all year.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm a hot sleeper, and I live in Arizona, with parents who think 90F is acceptable for summer indoor temperatures. I can't sleep in that. 1/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and I've recently re-added ice-packs to my sleeping routine...because it's too fucking hot to sleep.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wouldn't be able to sleep. I need like 70 or below with a fan.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Exactly. And that is why ice-packs have become part of my bedspread.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh and if the fan breaks in the winter good luck finding a new one.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Amazon.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Doesn't help for that night though.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

White noise apps on your phone will do in a pinch. It's what I use when I travel.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do you not subscribe to the back up fan?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

... or Amazon, you can subscribe to Amazon...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I do but I've had bad luck where both broke the same day.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I did, but the replacement was too quiet/weak. I still couldn't sleep with it and wound up fixing the original.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There are aps for this. eg: For when you're travelling and the place doesn't have a fan. Not as good obviously but decent in the short term.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I actually travel with a small fan.
