I am fully aware that this is a privately owned site and with that said the rules and regulations of this site are made by the owners. However I write this today to raise awareness of the nonsensical moderation that is honestly plaguing the community. I don't write the lightly and I am honestly concerned that even voicing my frustrations will lead to my account being disabled and I do not want that at all. I truly enjoy the community here and it gives me something to do besides run after three kids all day.
Yesterday I posted a mashup gif with Neil Degrasse Tyson and a woman in a bikini in zero gravity. There was absolute no nudity and both pictures were science related. However after 70 upvotes it was removed and I was suspended for a day. Perhaps I am confused but more so than not I too often see posts that are not marked mature and consist of people in bikinis and the posts don't get removed.
Imgurs core values are very confusing but on the one hand are understandable to an extent. Imgur needs to filter in order to encourage advertisers however too often it seems like what is considered mature or inappropriate is cherry picked.
I also know with with almost no doubt that the reason I was suspended was due to a response I gave for a user. They did not like what I said and instantaneously reported the post. Has anyone else experienced what I can only describe as weaponized/retaliatory reporting?
If my account is disabled for this post then my suspicions are correct. If it is not then I will do a post on the joy and wonder that is breast feeding since that is allowed.
