I work for a company...

Dec 27, 2016 1:02 AM

Long story and I apologize in advance. So I work for a business that is a veterinary clinic, doggy day care, and dog kennel/resort all in one. I work in the resort department of the business and we regularly charge clients for services that their pets never receive. For example, if you pay to have your dog get bathed before you pick it up from boarding there is a good chance it will just get sprayed with dog perfume before it gets sent out the door. Also people often pay for extras for their dogs such as group play but we are often so overbooked that we don't have time to do group play and the clients don't know don't get refunds when that happens, which is a lot. In the daycare department we tell people that their dogs are outside all day and only come in when they're tired or hot, but their dogs are going out a maximum of 2-3 times for 20 minutes each and some dogs are there for 10-12 hours a day; which means that they're in a cage for 90% of the time that their owners think they are outside. The owner of the business always chooses money over adequately caring for dogs which means that people who pay for the big cages often have their dogs shoved into much smaller cages because we overbook to the point where we don't have enough big cages for the people who pay for them. The owner won't pay to properly staff the place which means we often don't have enough time to make sure all the dogs have water or bedding to sleep on. And occasionally if it's really busy the dogs only get 2 walks a day instead of 3 which means they end up sleeping in their shit and piss all night.

I don't know what to do because I love these dogs and want to make sure they get treated right. But I never even get to talk to the clients and even if I did, after i tell one client they would just fire me. I was considering getting the client info off of the computers and contacting them directly but I don't know how I would go about doing that (there are thousands of clients) and I'm not even sure if that's legal. Thanks for listening, just needed to get this off my mind.

PS this is a throwaway account

Open another doggy daycare next door. Do all that shit and watch them go out of business

@OP, you have a really important opportunity to do the right (albeit terrifying) thing here.

Go to your state attorney general. Have documentation

Report and QUIT

You need to find a client who is willing to sue and you need to be willing to testify. You will lose your job.

Document and BBB. Get a client to lodge a complaint and help provide evidence. You're going to need a new job tho

Document as much as you can in a way that won't link it directly to you, then see if a news agency in the area would be interested in it.

If you do nothing you're giving your agreement to the practices. End it, you have power.

Use your phone to record the abuse then report them.

theres not much abuse to record. Animal Control isnt going to do anything if the dogs are healthy and arent sick

This is how I just assume all of these places work.

Call the attorney general. They frown on fraud.

*Exact* thing happened here (FL) to a friend of mine. She didn't have enough documentation to incriminate. 1/2

PLEASE document what you can. Take photos/videos with your phone. When you're ready, call the local news. Give them the evidence. 2/2

Hey, I got an idea. Open a similar business in same area. It appears there is a need, and the animals will benefit.

Whistleblowers are protected under us law. Tell the authorities.

Gather evidence, research who in your area to report fraud and theft to, and turn in the evidence to them

See something, say something. This is generally done with other agencies instead of imgur.

The BBB in my state(MD) is useless and literally has a one star rating on Google

It's because they're shady as fuck. Go to your town/city hall and work your way from there

Report report report. You could report them to the DOL and maybe even the police for the animal cruelty

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tell us who you work for. We can get the word out without anyone knowing who the whistle blower is.

I concur

You need rock solid proof then go to the authorities. Are you in the US? I'm not sure but this could be bait and switch or even extortion if

People are paying for services not rendered. Go to a lawyer, lots do free consultations at least.

I work for a facility that offers the same services and every once in a while some branch of law enforcement specifically for dogs comes ->

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And checks up on us, maybe there's something similar you could report this stuff to where you are located. They take this stuff very ->

Seriously and I'm sure they'd be more than happy to make sure these animals got the proper care they are paying for/deserve.

Buy a gun for protection from whatever company. Blow the whistle, help the innocent animals. Just don't be silent. Honestly 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If it's a large enough company. You're clearly competent enough to write a paper well. Make it anonymous slid it to your local news.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just stand up for what you believe in. You will not regret it if you believe it's the right thing

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah document everything but honestly you can submit anonymous stuff to peta and all sorts of orgs. But if want to see it stopped you have

To be 100% sure your ready to fight because if you go public be prepared to be sued for slander and libel and anything else they may try

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hell they may try to make it look like you were in on it till you got a heart to take you down with them. Make sure it's all
