Broooo, almost tought "why did he removed the green clay again?" but it was just one part of the pattern. It's actually pretty smart to make it easier, instead of having to make a more perfect shape first. Absolut time server tactics.
yes.. and no. The PLA burns off real easy-like, when you're talking about forging temperatures. The pinhole in the canister helps the burnt PLA gas be somewhere else. Check out Alec Steele's recent experiments with dogmascus
Welding all of those layers is a major accomplishment in itself. Designing an interesting pattern and keeping it true through the forging process is about as hard as it gets for pattern welding. This is impressive. If you want pattern welding perfection, check Kyle Royer on YouTube or google his knife making website. Best I’ve ever seen
I follow Alex Steele on YouTube, I know how much care and effort goes into the patterns, which is why I had pretty high expectations of seeing a nice and aesthetically pleasant pattern with all those clips of the work that went into this. The finished product was far below what I expected.

I liked the part where it goes WRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Thanks, I hate it

I immediately thought it was going to be a sword. I was sorta right. Seems like a lot of work

Sweet shit that’s a lot of layers. I would have preferred a full tang, though. That’s just me. But beautiful work. +1

There's a whole lot of hotting the colds and colding the hots going on here.

AdventurousDonut480
Yes, it's really beautiful. The effort put into it is insane though.

I dunno. Who has time to do this if you're already spending 6 hours a day browsing Imgur?

I could have sworn that was shurap, but the maker's mark is different. I wonder if the maker is an associate, friend, or fan of shurap?

Ah I knew there was a knife in there somewhere.

Hot the cools, then cool the hots, hot the cools, then cool the hots, now dust the cools

Soak the metal in knives, then knife the metal which was previously soaked.
