You’re safe, you aren’t on a billionaires yacht

That's scary because orcas know how to flip small icebergs to get prey off 'em.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

People too dumb to farm thousands of years ago: “ Let’s kill that and eat it!”

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Pet the damn whale already, jesus

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The only danger here is if the guy got accidentally flipped into that water. That water is cuh cuh cold.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Whales were prob curious as to what they were. Aka... a bath toy.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Does anyone remember that comic where the girl introduces a guy to her boyfriend and he has Moby Dick PTSD and he harpoons him while shouting stuff from the book?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wait, I found it and apparently there is a heavy metal song that goes with the words https://youtu.be/bpoAcXu65TM

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He had a whale of a time.

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

"You got any billionaires on this boat.... Nah? You good."

2 years ago | Likes 225 Dislikes 7

… in danger of getting wet..

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

You see any life preservers in that vid? Meanwhile, that water looked COLD. Not hard to imagine that falling out of the boat due to an errant flipper is a life threatening experience simply due to drowning/hypothermia.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Seriously!! Doesn't matter how strong of a swimmer you are. Wear a life jacket. What if the whale knocks you over and the oar or paddleboard (or even the flipper itself) bump your head or break your leg in the swirling water? Can't swim when you're unconscious or injured.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No danger of being eaten, but if they were to be killed, it would be a fluke.

2 years ago | Likes 814 Dislikes 2

“Bite Me.”

Well played.

No shame, I had to look this up +1.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Or drowning, the morons don’t have life jackets on. Yeah, you better step lightly with that stick there, oarsman.

Time to fly

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Soooo where is your lifejacket? Of cause you are in danger if you fall in this far from land ffs!

2 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

Nah, I could swim that distance *squints* here, hold my beer.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He is likely sitting on it.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He's sitting on a throw cushion. Not the same as a life jacket/vest. That hoodie ain't your friend neither

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No life vest? Yeah you’re in danger, dude.

2 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 1

That water looked cold AF

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

pfff, safety gear is overrated and for pussies /S

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Condoms are safety gear

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

definitely! also treated as such (unecessary)

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My dumb ass would try to pet them

2 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 1

Look, man, I know enough to not endanger myself TRYING to pet a whale..... but if one came up RIGHT THERE how the fuck am I gonna NOT reach out and touch it?!

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

That's just human, man

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The way it came within arms length screamed that it wanted scritches!

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Yeeeaahh ... me to.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

What kind of monster would you have to be to not want to pet them?!

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Plus all the free lice you can eat off them …

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those of the eldritch variety, methinks.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Many people do, they are harmless, well their size could do damage, but they are fairly friendly.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

So maybe kinda like a big dog is careful around tiny kittens? I hope so. :)

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mostly, yep! We're too big to eat and they're smart. But accidents happen (like, they splash and it makes the kayak flip over)

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They are gentle. They are VERY smart and understand their size. Youtube vid of one protecting a diver from a tiger shark. The whale was placing her under his pectoral flipper, lady said she was scared, but saw the shark and understood.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What an incredible experience!! I wonder if they know you're there and being gentle?

2 years ago | Likes 318 Dislikes 5

They know in Husavik

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I wonder if they know we are on/in boats or if they think that the boat is part of our body.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

I wonder if they remember our crimes of the past and how easily we slaughtered so many :(

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

that whale, under his breath: "Ahab-lookin-ass bitches."

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

How would they not know?? Do you think whales can't see?? I'm honestly confused what you're asking

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Did you know that freighter ships have arrived at docks with sailboat rigging caught up on their anchor lines? When you're big and busy sometimes you don't notice little things.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

“Shit, he has a camera. Abort! Abort!”

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think they know and they all want scratches.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They 100% know in a way that I can't compare with any other animal. I had a dolphin come check me out when I was off shore fishing over water 120ft feet deep in a kayak. It saw me, swam over doing the little back arching out of the water thing dolphins do, got close and swam by sideways, we made eye contact, it turned and swam away. Not threatening even though I was nervous. It could have flipped me. It was just curious.

Good. We are very dangerous to sharks.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If fire was as easy to make under water as it is up here, they'd probably be at a technological age.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They will also protect other marine animals from sharks and orcas!

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Humpbacks protect any willing sea life from killer whales. They HATE them and love to try to deprive them of food.

2 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

I wonder if it's instinctual because orcas kill their young.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Exactly. Preventing the orcas from getting ANY meal helps drive them out of the territory.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That is the smarter take that gives whales credit for their intelligence. I like it.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's really not necessary. Most humans won't harm a shark.

2 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 1

heh, good one

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's not true. Most humans would harm a shark if they *could.* They just can't do it in the water. But if they catch one on a fishing pole, I've seen countless people pull them onto the sand to let them die. I would cuss them out and put the shark back, and they'd yell how I was endangering their kids or something. People are dumb.

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

I so wish my flippant remark was right and you were wrong.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Wouldn't be surprised if like elephants they think we're cute

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

If an elephant thought I was cute I would be so happy.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Tell me about wood lice. I'm an isopod fan

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I read that that study where it's proposed elephants think we're cute was made up. I hope not

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

It's not a study, it was some jackass's tumblr or something. It was never true.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

This.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's unproven. That doesn't mean it's not true, not false.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They know

2 years ago | Likes 259 Dislikes 0

They're curious.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

If they knew what we do to their planet, they wouldn't be as gentle.

2 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 1

They do know why do you think they keep wrecking boats.
