I keep getting downvoted off the comments for saying this, but we need to repeal the 2nd to pass ANY form of firearm regulation. SCOTUS will not only not allow effective gun laws to pass, but will take every opportunity to make all types more accessible. Sound suppressors and full auto will be next. Imagine how much deeper into a school a nutter can get before the alarm goes off if their rifle is no louder than an air gun.
Any group trying to obtain power through fear and intimidation will always ban knowledge. And these are the groups we have to fight to keep our freedom.
Yeah, but books might teach kids something dangerous like "It's okay to be gay." And "Love people for who they are." and "Underage children shouldn't be having sex with grown ass Republicans."
Funny how a single 'concerned' parent can get a book banned and removed from access from thousands of children in a school district or country, but these same people couldn't care less when parents of dead children beg for even a TEENY bit of gun control.
"You want weapons? We're in a library. Books are the best weapon in the world. This room's the greatest arsenal we could have. Arm yourself!" -The Doctor
I thought it was "killed my mother and raped my father" but I can't remember the source and it's bugging the crap out of me. I thought of this when I read it too.
The book didn’t kill your family the person holding the book did. I can leave my books in my bunker full of canned beans and porn all day and it doesn’t kill anyone. /s
If your gun is used in a crime, you should bear some responsibility for not using adequate storage. #1 You can't own guns anymore. #2 If your negligence was particularly bad, jail time should be coming.
Like in other countries where you have to pass a background check and pass weapons training- if your weapon is not kept in a safe you lose your license.
This thought process is WRONG. If my gun is stolen from my locked house, I no longer have control of it and have no culpability for what the thief does with it. Yes I could've locked it in a safe. But unfortunately, locks are for honest people. They already broke into my locked house, why would a locked safe stop them?
Because in this common scenario the 4 year old is your kid, they live with you, and they found your gun and killed someone with it. No lock breaking necessary.
For them, democracy is convenient if its on their side, but if they lose they either wait until they can coup, or coup. Democratic/legal victory vs facists just tells them they gotta start using the dirtier tactics. It's one thing to govern over facists, but at best that's just giving them prep time unless they also get jailed/killed at the highest levels. Getting the pawns and middle men is like just killing zerglings and leaving the hives alone.
Even jailing isn't always enough. Hitler was sent to jail once, but after he got let out, he played sneaker, did better, and started his infection all over again. Democratic/legal losses are only temporal(not temporary, but that too) setbacks to facists. Not eradicating them is basically saying 'the grandkids can just deal with them all over again'(as opposed to at least a few generations...)
I’d agree responsibility should be the same as a car IF everything else was the same as a car, too, including licensing (with regular renewals), maintaining full liability insurance, and owner testing, for example.
A car can be used to kill but that's not its primary purpose. A gun is very much designed to kill and should be treated as such, and secured correctly.
If you could have reasonably foreseen that and failed to take even basic precautions, possibly. Like, if you know your kid wants to run over people and you leave the keys on the counter every day.
You mean like if someone steals your car and deliberately threatens or takes someone's life with it, because cars are designed to be used as a weapon and that's why cars need to be kept secure? And a major reason why cars are stolen is to be used as a weapon in a crime? Or is that not really a similar situation because cars are in fact used mainly to drive around rather than as a weapon so your question is a bit ridiculous?

I keep my book covers and their pages safely locked away in separate locations to ensure the safety of my family.

That's because it happened *before* recorded history, duh! The books were blank and called "rocks" back then. Ah, simpler times...

Tbu, (to he unfair, lol) hollowed out books often contain loaded guns.

Never in recorded history has fascism been fixed by peaceful, legal methods.

What are you talking about? Edwin Edwards defeated David Duke with 61% of the votes. Fascists are sent packing all the time with no shots fired.

The driver registered with the state, passed a test, and paid for insurance. The car is locked with a key.

You should have to maintain firearm insurance for each gun you own, just like car insurance.
