#48 Here's the key though: there's a difference between *acting* like you care and *actually caring*. You can care without being performative about it, and performative caring with no substance to it isn't really helpful. Telling an autistic person who cares that they don't care can be confusing, because speaking for at least myself, I'm used to having people do the performance without actually backing it up with anything helpful, and if I care about someone I don't want to do that to them.

#17 we need more silly movies like Hot Shots, Airplane, Naked Gun (I still owe to myself to watch the new one), Men in Tights...

6 days ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Unless you've committed war crimes you do not owe yourself to watch the new one...

6 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Heard someone have an idea about that - supposedly all the funny people who made movies like those are all making easier money by having podcasts instead of making movies which could bomb.

The curse of being a mnemonist. You aren't right 100% of the time & information may change on you when it comes to historic facts/scientific understanding as we learn more.

Least we aren't stuck in perpetual highlight reels forced to relive our lives over the smallest memory chain reaction where we have to constantly relieve everything connected. Hyperthymesia.

Imagine how normal people feel reliving their worst moments at night. Then imagine Mnemonists. Then the hell of Hyperthymesia

Most of the time I don't bother being polite. At least not at work

#29 I read this thinking the other kind of .pdf

6 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Do tell. Google is useless.

6 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

PDF sometimes read as PDFile. Which sounds like and has been recently used instead of pedophile.

6 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Because people are so scared of being demonetized by the pedophile class, they self censor. It is horrifying.

6 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

No because sites like tiktok and YouTube get squirrelly about it and you can get banned. So it’s spread across the internet out of fear.

#35 This is the message that the world needs to hear right now.

6 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Meh. I’ve never enjoyed it myself. I’ve always felt like it was more for the other person who asked for it since I’m uncomfortable either hovering or sitting, but that’s just me

Then lay back and let them come at it from the top.

#13 that's not how that works. A wing produces a pressure differential, so

6 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

low pressure above, high pressure below. The low pressure doesn't pull, the high pressure pushes. Suction isn't an actual force, it's high relative pressure pushing to low pressure, so the air beneath a wing pushes it up.

#37 my grandpa spends his days obsessing over hunting videos and traffic accident news. When I was a kid he somehow found a TV channel on cable that showed hours-long compilations of car racing accidents and would watch it on the regular.

Once I had a knife fall behind a mounted fridge and couldn’t retrieve it and as soon as he heard of it he showed up at my door with a stick with a magnet at the end (this was not the first time he used it) and tried to compel me to purchase magnets.

But when I mention to my parents that every test I tried online said “there’s a very high likelihood you have autism” and that perhaps I’m not the first in my family to have it because my grandpa is like that (and trust me, that’s just the tip of the iceberg) they just shrug it off.

I don’t know about the rest of them but in my family, the boomers sure have zero clue about what autism can look like

6 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Some of them are more on top of things; my mom is fairly certain that her father was on the spectrum, for example.

6 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haha man I love telling my boomer relatives they’re autistic because it’s hereditary. Like I tell my aunt that Granny totally was we just didn’t realize it because I wasn’t diagnosed until I was 40 and then we started researching and the lightbulb went off and my boomer aunt goes, “she had a lot of injuries, tidepools.” Yeah bitch we tend to be clumsy but autism isn’t a side effect of that it’s a comorbidity. Then SHE figures out she is on the low end too lmao It’s the best
