Okay I know this question might get misinterpreted but I'll ask it anyway. If as a dog owner you knew you had to put them down and had the option to have a vet administer them a safe mix of painkillers and stimulants(for energy) the day before the procedure, would you do so? The specific reason behind this being to give them one last good, pain free day where your dog could run around and play like when they were young.
And that's not to say you are a pet to them, but if they treat a being they "own" with disdain and malice they will treat anyone they have a fraction of away over the same way.
Life is a fucking miracle. It's not always clean, easy or joyous, but the fact that it exists at all in this universe is borderline impossible. We should all strive to be more present and experience it before it's gone. Because that day is fast approaching.
In heaven, they're talking about nothing but the sea and how wonderful it is. They talk about the sunsets they saw, they talk about how the sun turned blood red before diving into the sea and they talk about how they could feel how the sun lost its power and the coolness from the sea and all that fire was only glowing inside.
That is the saddest, yet most loving thing I have see today. +1, and thank you for letting all of us feel goodness and grief and intense love all at the same time. We don't often get the opportunity. +1
we went to the forest behind our house for his last moments. he hadnt slept for days and he fell aslkeep there for an hour whlle we were sobbing. and then we had to leave to go to the vet. i wished that moment lasted forever. i miss him so much
My good girl died early in 2020. Less than 6 hours from any symptoms to pulling the plug. I still can't decide if knowing would've made it better or worse.
It's always a terrible loss but I feel it's better when it's more sudden, our first boy passed away 18 months after his terminal diagnosis and we gradually watched every part of him fade away until there was almost nothing left. Our second boy passed away less than two weeks after his diagnosis and even then just the last five days were bad so I have almost no bad memories of him.
The picture above always upsets me as later on when Jake was really unwell and couldn't walk any distance, he still wanted to go out in the car to his walks so we'd take him out driving some distance at times just so he could stand for a little in the car park and he seemed happier whereas previously he'd easily manage hours walking and swimming without tiring.
As the owner of an aging dog, these posts hit hard. She's still fairly spry but I know she's only got a few more years before I have to start making some very hard choices.
My Wife had to put her down with me out of the country. She went real sudden with multiple organ failure and no warning. They tried to stabilise her, but it was only a prolongation of her suffering. I couldn't hold her, couldn't comfort her. The last interaction I had with her was me leaving with a suitcase and stroking her head, saying I'd be back in a week. And then She never saw me again.

Ladies and gents. Please date pet owners. They will show their true colors by the way they treat their pets.

You're a good person.

This fills me with so much regret for the way my sweet cat passed away.
storytaletime
Aww.. remember though, regret just means you've grown as a person. You've learned from your mistakes and won't make the same mistakes again.

There was nothing that I could have done. My wife had to put her down while I was out of country.

Then why regret?
