I've seen a lot of shit in my lifetime in the NHL but I have had it with this bullshit. Robert Bortuzzo of the blues is one of the dirtiest players and he deserves to be suspended for the season for this shit. The blues are full of dirty players and bullies and they play that way but he could have crippled Viktor Arvidsson or even worse and as far Jordan binnington i dont know what the fuck he is doing WTF seriously, Bortuzzo is going to have a hearing and from the NHL tomorrow and from what I hear so is binnington. Yeah, shit goes down all the time in hockey but he is trying to fucking hurt the guy or even worse he could have done some serious damage.

I'm a Blues fan, but fuck him. Even by old school hockey, that's bullshit. I'd fine him and not allow him to play for the rest of the season

Blues fans rolling through the comments downvoting everything negative against their team.

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 10

That was nuts. Unacceptable

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Let's go BLUUUUEEEEES! Dirty hit though.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Gross

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

Unfortunately the whole league has shit like this happen every game that’s not caught on camera.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Once he saw the refs hands go up for the first crosscheck, figured he might as well get another one in for free. Shoulda stacked penalties.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Hockey's a dangerous sport by nature, but that's just wrong and even that goes against the spirit of hockey.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Preds fan here. Fuck Bortuzzo. Also, Arvy left the game a little bit after this with an "upper body injury" so let's hope he's ok.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

Let us not forget all the shit Brad Marchand has gotten away with. Nothing will happen.

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 9

That's a special case. Tom Brady's aura has stretched beyond Football, he's able to order even an NHL ref to look the other way.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

What’s hilarious is Blues fans regularly complain about other teams playing dirty, but the Blues “never do that.”

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

As a Blues fan, that's bullshit. We've got some shitbirds that shouldn't be in the league. Like Bortuzzo.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The Blues are a super dirty team. Pretty much every team they played in the Cup playoffs last year had an issue with them.

Blackhawks fan here. Keep him in, he kinda sucks.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I'll second this. We'd all love to win another cup, but not like that

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Sometimes things happen during games that should be referred to police rather than a sporting judiciary.

6 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 17

Absolutely.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

God damn that's dangerous for his back. What a fucking dick

6 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 3

I've played with Binnington he's not a dirty player. Goalie has every right to protect their crease. Bortuzzo is an asshat for that move tho

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 8

Why crosscheck a guy skating away from the grease and after the play has been stopped? A senseless move by Binnington.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Bullshit. He was run into the goal by his own defender, then cross checked again, followed by a cheap shot by Binnington.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Juging by where Binnington was looking, it seems like he might not've known what was going on behind him. All he saw as a guy in his crease.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have a hard time believing an NHL level goalie isn’t aware of what’s happening in his crease. Plus the guy was getting up and leaving.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even so, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Though the push was overly aggressive in any case.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh yeah I’m not really blaming him much. It’s wasn’t dirty, just unnecessary. Burt on the other hand...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also, that name. WTF

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Really proved he was the ‘bigger man’ by hitting someone again when they were already down... what a shit weasel

6 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 9

Because he was diving like a soccer player

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 15

Dive or no dive, that secondary hit shows complete lack of self control

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My friend who knows nothing about hokey would like to know what's different now from any other fight in that game.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

The NHL (college & minor leagues also) have made great strides in recent decades getting fighting out of the game. There's no place for it.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

No place for it? There’s literally been a place for it for over a century of the sport.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s not a fight at all. Fighting is two guys squaring off and going at it. Most even tell each other good fight afterwards. This is assault

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Hell a lot of them agree to having a fight beforehand too.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh yeah. Just straight jumping someone is very frowned upon.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s about being evenly matched, in situation and response. Both dudes wanna drop gloves and knock each others teeth out? Cool. This guy, /1

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Hitting with his stick while they’re already down and vulnerable from the collision with the posts - that’s overtly dangerous. Not cool. 2/2

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No you haven’t seen shit if you think that’s bad. McSorely, Claude, Bertuzzi..nice snap reaction.

6 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 7

Jordon Tootoo should also make this list.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you oook up goon in the dictionary, there’s a picture of Marty McSorely.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Marchand needs mentioned

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

I think the Bruins are still getting lighter treatment out the league disciplinary office off of the Campbell connection.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

Marchand is not even close to being on the level of those guys. Please.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Marchand likes to go low when he can. He’s not outright dirty like these guys. He’s sneaky about it. Plus he likes to lick faces. Gross.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But that's my point. He's an agitator, and takes some cheap shots, but he's not an outright goon like McSorely or Bertuzzi. Not comparable.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And that's not an excuse for Marchand's behavior. But his goonery is not the same as McSorely or Bertuzzi.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yeah, he put more oomph into that than he should have, and it was lower than the shoulder pads, but I feel like that doesn't warrant a 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Suspension. Or is it the first hit they're looking at?

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

That second hit absolutely warrants a suspension. He deliberately struck a vulnerable player low in the back, well away from the puck, 1/

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

resulting in an injury, all because he was mad that he had been called for a penalty. That's completely unacceptable, and he should have 2/

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

received far more than just a four-game suspension. 3/3

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why let him play in the NHL ever again? He's a dick and does shit like this far too often...

6 years ago | Likes 1055 Dislikes 23

All hail ?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Could say the same for Tom Wilson. Broke Ashton-Reese’s jaw from the Penguins.

6 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 3

That was at least a hit in play. Not the cleanest, but not the same as the shit @op is talking about above.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Wilson has a pretty lengthy rap sheet

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but they're all hits that are in play. They might be dirty, but they're not assault.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

No. He has a history of predatory hits where he maximizes impact to the head in a deliberate attempt to cause brain injuries. He's the worst

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Didn’t Bortz start a fight with a teammate during practice a year ago?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the NHL encourages “bad boys”, as they boost ratings. If they’re a good player, it’s a bonus because they’ll be ejected, and cause drama.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 7

All evidence to the contrary.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That's not true at all. That just an opinion

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

They dont encourage fights anymore. You cant even take off their helmets to do so. If we're talking ratings, which is were most revenue 1/

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Comes from then yeah. NHL, NFL, MLB all rig their games to last as long as possible. And rig to keep em close

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

You forgot the most rigged sport of all and that’s the NBA. Hell, it’s more scripted than the WWE

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did you know? Rapist Brock Turner was a swimmer. Literally anyone can swim. Rapist Brock Turner should still be in jail.

6 years ago | Likes 114 Dislikes 4

Some people can't swim, but they make up for it by not raping. That's a skill that Rapist Brock Turner should probably try to master.

6 years ago | Likes 86 Dislikes 2

Bortuzzo has to get a long suspension out of that. I doubt Binnington gets much for a shove with his gloves after the bad hit though. 1/

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

Last playoffs Bennington skated over to the Stars bench and hit Bishop with his stick cause Bishop was out playing him. He's a bully too.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Dallas is the best team!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/ That part was pretty minor by the standards of goalies pushing people out of their crease, and the lead-up all happened behind him.

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Binnington shouldn't get anything for that. Bortuzzo should get a couple weeks off.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 6

Binnington probably didn’t see the rest of it. Turned around and is like “play’s been over for a while, why the fuck you still in my crease”

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

3 days. I’d be surprised if it’s more.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Likely less. That was all gloves, not stick. Can't see more than one game.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Just got an update, banned 4 games.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Bortuzzo, yeah, deserved at least that. I was disagreeing with people who though Binnington's little get-out-of-my-crease tap after the 1/

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Forfeited $67,000.00. Which is interesting. It goes to the player’s Emergency Assistance Fund.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

hits like this are less like "league matters" and more like "pending assault charges"

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 23

Starting to sound like Don Cherry lol.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You mean something like taking off the others guy’s helmet and hitting him in the head with it?

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

I'm fucking tired of people wanting to bring lawsuits into sports. Let the league deal with the issue and leave the lawyers out of it.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 24

There's a difference between a rough play and a criminal act. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Todd_Bertuzzi%E2%80%93Steve_Moore_incident

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Why is playing a sport an excuse for battery?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

https://www.traderumours.com/index.php?blog=9290 what about this case? He got charged for assault, which is right

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I dont watch much hockey, but I'm disappointed that the benches didnt clear out to kick that guys ass.

6 years ago | Likes 105 Dislikes 4

You cant jump the boards this isn't fuckin movies

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

The league has made it impossible for players to retaliate anymore, and the Blues exploit it like no one else.

6 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Doesnt happen much anymore :(

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They cann't fit us all in the penalty box boys! Charge!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Jumping off the bench to fight someone is a huge suspension and fine now, you have to be on the ice to retaliate.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know emotions run high during competitions but at some point they should be held accountable for acts of straight up criminality.

6 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 2

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 15

It's not wrong, and there are some cases where hockey players have been charged of an assault. Danish player Kristian Jensen is

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

likely going to jail for this kind of thing

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

actually may avoid sitting in jail, but https://www.traderumours.com/index.php?blog=9290

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

File charges?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Yeah why is assault seemingly excused in the context of hockey?

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 5

You agree to the terms and conditions of a contact sport by stepping between the lines. This stuff happens ALL THE TIME.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

Simple crosschecks happen all the time. This kind of bullshit does not.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You agree to contact that is normal and acceptable within the sport. You're not immune from all battery charges.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

I'm starting to dislike the idea that you guys are calling for criminal charges for inexcusable plays in contact sports. It's just dumb.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 30

I agree. Leave the lawyers out of it.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 7

Dude... he slammed him across the spine with a hockey stick, deliberately. That's not a "play", that's straight up battery.

6 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 5

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 9

What the other guy said. Contact sports. Leave the lawyers out of it. Inexcusable yes. Penalize him yes. Start leveling charges in sports?no

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 11

There's a big difference between this and, say, a questionable tackle. This wasn't part of play. Claiming that this is part of 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

They're not saying you can't hit people in boxing; they're saying you can't attempt to cripple people outside of play

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Then the league should suspend him or remove him permanently. End of story. Lawyers are not needed in sports it will destroy sports.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 14

Exactly.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

If being an athlete means giving up your right to take someone to court for assaulting you, maybe sports are little fucked up.

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

it was a shit move

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

In hockey culture, that's considered a dick move.

6 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

That's a dick move there buds.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

he's talking between football, baseball, basketball, and hockey.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You won them?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is a problem with the lack of fighting in the nhl now. Pricks like like him get to this stuff unchecked. WHY DID NO ONE KICK HIS ASS?

6 years ago | Likes 95 Dislikes 19

Typical American, solve the problem of violence with more violence. This is solved by suspending the offenders. One year suspension ->

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

-> and he will be a contractual piranha. Add to the league itself to make a stand that this is simply not acceptable and amend the rules.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I would say a bigger problem is the ref who was standing beside it and only gave him a single minor penalty. One of those was a freebie.

6 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

Preds don’t really have a bruiser on the roster right now. Used to be Austin Watson but he’s chilled out a lot since rehab.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I seriously doubt a padded fist fight on ice that he has to agree to would stop him

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ever heard the expression, “drop the gloves”. Not padded.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Still wearing pads.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's why there are referees. No fighting needed

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 16

Just like the fact we have police officers and there is now no crime... wait

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 5

If we had 4 policemen and 5 cameras for every 12 persons it would be different

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

It would be China

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Wait, is this some sort of bizarro argument in favor of vigilante killings or something?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't know anything about hockey. Can you explain why a lack of fighting is an issue? (Honest question)

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

It is to keep people from doing this kind of stuff. Even 5 years ago this guy would had a fist in his face within second

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Don't listen to him. Idiots think that fights prevent cheap shots, despite 100% of the evidence pointing to the contrary. (1/2)

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

With fights, you have the same amount, if not more cheap shots, and the fighters get to end their own life with crippling brain damage.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In the olden days this guys would have been immediately punched in the mouth - instant repercussions for playing dirty.

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

That’s just bullshit. Goons will goon. Fighting in hockey never stopped cheap shots.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Exactly. Some of the worst offences on the ice was during the era of teams having dedicated enforcers. Bertuzzi being some of the worst ->

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Why not just arrest them?

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 9

If athletes on the field were held to regular standards of behaviour, the owners would shit bricks. Read about pay issues in Junior hockey.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Like 80% of contact sports are things that would qualify as assault if you did it on the street.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

? I practise MMA. Someone hitting an unconscious guy? Not letting go of a choke or hold or bar after the other guy taps? Kicking someone on

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

NHL has worked HARD to end the "enforcer" culture - turns out this is the sort of thing the enforcers were preventing

6 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 10

BS. This was happening back in the day too

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 4

Yea like when a ref gets a 2 hand swing to the face

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Give me a break, like there were no cheap shots when fighting was rampant? BS. There was shit exactly like this, only difference was then...

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 9

Nice little rant. You’re still wrong lol

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 8

...there was a fight. But the fact that there was a fight afterwards did jackshit to prevent the cheap shots, "rats" and "pests" are not...

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3
