I ordered alambres at my local Mexican place off the “authentic” page on the menu and I was in love instantly. It was served on top of 4 corn tortillas and had a side of the tastiest spicy tomatillo salsa. The bacon was big and chunky as were the peppers and onions and chicken was delish. I order it once s month now and I think the shrimp version is my favorite. I told all my friends about it too but sadly the place sold to new management shortly after ICE came to town and is now shut down :(

By a Floridian actually

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just had that, but it was made pizza style with the tortillas on the bottom and used carnitas. Yummy!

I think I’m in love

This is more American than McDonalds, at the best is Tex-Mex food, but Mexican, come on!

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’ve never seen a pan like that. What a fantastic idea 💡

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Does she have a link? Webpage?

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh, so THAT'S a comal! Looks like something that wouldn't work properly on a conduction top, though :(

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Digging straight in with the tortilla is the move!

2 weeks ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 1

I like wrapping up a stick of butter with a tortilla. Anything goes with tortilla

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

looks thicker.... which makes sense

2 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It’s a common culinary tactic. Bread is utensil

2 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Literally

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah fuck yea! This is a new level of food!

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Slower...

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I don't want to enjoy amigos, I would rather enjoy the tacos con mi amigos

2 weeks ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Nachos are just deconstructed tacos.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The friends were the tacos we ate along the way?

2 weeks ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Mmm friend tacos

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What about tacos con mis otros tacos?

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Compañeras de cuarto, simplemente

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm gonna need a link to where I can buy a pan like that!

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unpopular opinion: mexican food is way better with little or no cheese

2 weeks ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

I'm with you. Only a few dishes and a salty white crumbly cheese can be good, but if it's like street tacos or something? Blasphemy. Not even just on principle, but it literally tastes worse with it

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Little is ideal if you can get it broiled to a crunchy golden texture

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Mexican is all about the peppers and spices and how it pairs with the meat.

If using cheese, omit the meat and just go veggie, much better flavor experience that way.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

IMO, depends on the cheese - asadero works wonders.

is that a mexican wok?

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's called a Cabilock Mexican Frying Pan.
But seriously, you can use a wok to do the samething.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

but my wok don't have that flat edge to keep things warm.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Girl where did you get that pan bc I need to know

Thank you. I need that shelf though, you got wok with shelf?

2 weeks ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Can't move stuff up to the side in a regular wok but a bowl works just fine

2 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The cooking heat is in the middle of a wok.
The food pushed up the walls is kept warm.
However, you can remove food from the wok to make room.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah it's basically the same thing but that extra shelf would be nice to have. I'll make due with my wok.

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sure.
They come in everyone's price range.
From cheap to expensive,

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

any replacement for bacon?

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

BLASPHEMY!!

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

im asking for a muslim friend

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Oh, then NOT BLASPHEMY!! And while bacon fat is indeed an excellent seasoning in its own, it is not the only one. I suppose it would be pretty hard to find a substitute that would keep the same flavor. Just omitting it entirely would not change the way the meal is prepared, however. In a pinch, I think just plain butter could work as a substitute.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

yum, salted butter then. thanks.

A lot of the street taco vendors in Mexico have ones that pop up instead of down and they do a final sear on the near on the dome as well as heat up the tortillas. It's amazing especially for birria.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know! That is an amazing pan!

I feel that lol. We never stop cooking here lol

2 weeks ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

We research recipes because we like cooking and we bookmark recipes to try and the ever-expanding bookmark folder is a crippingly overwhelming problem of its own so now we can't enjoy cooking.

2 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

When in doubt. Make it up.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I took an approach of 'Eat everything in the place one by one to create a clean slate. Here is a list of foods you compiled for specific reasons you don't quite remember. When there is nothing left to eat, take this list shopping.' ...I have three eggs, two tomatoes, two packs of bacon and some hot dogs left. >.>

From a quick Google search, this looks very close but probably isn't the same pan.

2 weeks ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 5

Man fuuuuuuuuuck international shipping, even on amazon. On the other hand I got more expensive pans than that... (It's like 25$ ish)

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I don't wanna steal her pan....

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Looks pretty damn close to me

After more searching, that one is smaller than the one in the video. THIS one is much closer:
