Wiser Words have never been spoken

Overwatch, I don't know why I expect my teammates to understand basic game concepts like "Pick = push W" everyone just hides on the point

To me it’s bc you somewhat have control over your game. So winning = feeling of accomplishment. Which you often can’t get in a stressful job

Look, one I’m a girl and two hunting bandits is my jam.

playing a stressful game knowing the worst outcome is a start-over in an enjoyable video game is oddly relaxing.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

The thing is games are governed by a set of logical, understandable, fair and immutable rules (other than cheating). Life isn't.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Proven to keep the mind sharp. Good stress.

One word ARK

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

on the really tressful days i pull out the single player games at medium difficulty. its like not drinking coffee after lunch, chill dude

3 years ago | Likes 109 Dislikes 0

There are a handful of games I still play on a hard difficulty (nuDoom/Doom Eternal, for instance), but yeah.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm into AC Valhalla on Story mode right now, its so chill

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Stardew Valley with the Easier Fishing mod

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is why I play on easy mode. I want to be able to relax while I play. Stress is for work only.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh I'll play some Elden Ring, get on my horse, pick up some items. I died. This fucking game. Why do I play this game.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

stressful games require a lot of focus, which makes me forget about whatever ive been stressing about earlier

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s not the stress, it’s the means to combat or mitigate the stress. If you can’t, that is when it becomes “bad” stress.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can relate. For me, every work scenario is about people trying to prove me wrong or prove me as less intelligent than them. When a...

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Challenging game is difficult, but I succeed anyway, it's a way for me to disprove all the haters. No, I am capable of doing hard things...

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can recognize a challenge for what it is, learn how to overcome this, learn from each failure and keep going.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fun fact: 99.8% of stress in online games is caused by rage at your teammates! ;) https://youtu.be/ND-KBaj33n8

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I mean, they are always dumbasses. They are never not dumbasses. They do something so dumb it boggles my mind every time.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I got so mad at Rising Storm 2 the other week that I uninstalled every FPS I own and ragequit the entire fucking genre

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Risijng Storm 2 is bad. It's literally not fun. You can't see ANYONE but they can see you through a mountain and your team looks the same

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some of the maps are okay but very few.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dunno about that "men" part, I've seen women/enbies speedrunning Celeste and getting times I could never dream about.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My trick is to find relaxing-ish games like an RTS (PA) or PVE FPS (DRG), then play on max difficulty to make em as stressful as possible

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Me playing Fortnite with my 5 grown up friends...

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's not like theres a bunch of great PVP games to chose from

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is actually why I stopped playing the Last of Us 2. Life has enough stress, and I didn't want to add some more.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

True zen is playing ranked multiplayer and not losing your shit over a loss streak

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A lot of people don't seem to understand why people love difficult games. It's like asking a gymbro why not lift lighter weights?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We don't (always) do the easiest thing, because beating a difficult boss is just so much more rewarding.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

pretty much, games are about improving your skill and that wont happen if you don't challenge yourself

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Video games will help keep your brain fresh.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But the game CAN be beaten. You know you have the tools to win and it plays fair. This is unlike real life.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A stressful situation that you deliberately put yourself into and you can quit whenever you want is fun. Why do you think people love

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

horror movies?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My list is Elden Ring, Binding of Isaac, and Rogue Legacy 2. Cuphead previously but I 100%'d that. I do not understand myself.

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I would add Subnautica and Alien: Isolation.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have you people tried tetris on invisible mode?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's the euphoria of overcoming a challenge. It's the same reason people climb everest.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I didn’t know there was a Rogue Legacy 2, 1 was great! Sekiro was my go to last month, it’s the first game that I completed multiple times/

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In a row. You can feel how much you’ve improved on each NG+. I hope Elden ring is like that, I’m still getting used to it

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're playing the wrong games. Break out tf2 and let the shenanigans ensue

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Gotta respek that strafe skill.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I still play this game daily

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*Gets frustrated from all the bots*

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The devs also said the other day they will try and do something about it. So fingers crossed

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Actually the bots have gotten better. And as always, on non-pub servers like Uncletopia the bots aren't a problem at all.

DAMNIT I wish they programmed that in as a "headshot"

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dunno what happened, games I used to be good at, I suck at now.

3 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

Old man reflexes have settled in. I can't beat anyone at Super Smash anymore

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The last(only..) game I was great at was Halo 2, so it's been a hot minute.

"Nothing fucks you harder than time." https://youtu.be/Z_ciCyylN2I?t=34

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As kids we played for hours a day. When I was little I could get to Mike Tyson in Punch-Out easily. Now? Not so much.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ability has to be maintained, especially as you get older.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s practice. If you play consistently like you did as a kid you will get good again

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

How old are you? My reflexes used to be lightning quick and sharp but in my 30's I think they've gotten slower.

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Yeah, reaction time to visual stimulus starts to decay in/after the early 20s. It's a measurable consequence of aging.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

When I was 18-20 I was a crazy scout sniper in Counterstrike, popping heads left and right. Now I am 45 and can't snipe shit. Getting old

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Mustve been your early twenties, the official release of cs wasnt until nov 2000. Not that it matters, your point still stands

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

lol, no, was back before steam existed when I was in college in 1998 or so. CS was a mod on Half life

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

One of 2 things happened, one the lack of playing them in so long you've lost your experience. Or 2 you were never as good as you remember.

3 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

Or 3. You're old and your reflexes have deminished

3 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

This.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or 4. Life's demands mean you don't have the time to keep your skills sharp anymore

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Well sure but that was basicly point 1 already

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Hm I suppose I interpreted not playing for so long and not being able to play as consistently as different points

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I didnt wanna be rude but yeah. Just restated point 1 in a different way.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Hey, if a game is stressing you out, you can just quit and get a new one on the same day! Less so with a job

3 years ago | Likes 316 Dislikes 0

Meh, I can never go hard with games. Lose too much money on new remotes. Games have an ability to piss me off more than anything else.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

mama didn't raise no quitter

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Gaming stress is good stress to me. Practice problem solving and sharpen hand eye coordination skills.

3 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

You can always leave a job. Or join a union and make the job less stressful that way.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Hell no. I'm playing until I win. I love playing Hell let loose because we get to talk to each other while getting shot

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

ooooh that's on my steam wishlist of 15 bucks and i'm buying list

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yo. I'll buy it for you my homes. I got you. I think I just need your steam username, or maybe it'll give me a code when I buy it and I'll >

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

>send it to you. Respond so I know you saw it. You want the game: Hell let loose, right? I'll send you the code if you respond to this

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sounds easy, doesnt work. The thing you get out of a game you invest 5000+ hours in is hard to find in starting a new game. ?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Depends. If you put that much time into a fighting game or a souls-like, other games in the genre will be easier to master

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you put that much time into a grand strategy game like EU4 then you’ve just learnt the basics and will still need to save scum on easy

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good game design is key. If a game is well designed it can be difficult but not stressful. Likewise, games can be easy but stressful.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Attention to fatigue, well-distributed and paced breaks, rewards and challenges, and a careful scaling of challenge to player capability.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Depends on what level job you want. Places are so desperate for people here you could easily leave a job and get a new one that day.

3 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

I wish I could do that. Just got my best paying job and it's still barely enough to pay rent.

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Dude, right as I started making 20% more money the world was like, actually no the fuck you don't. So I'm becoming miserable again

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

If you want to make $18 an hour yeah

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Depending on where you live that's more than enough

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

26k an year after taxes? That's the mindset that has kept so many people broke. That barely covers rent and food.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Change “Men” to “Gamers” and its even more accurate

3 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 5

Thanks for the representation. We can be degenerates regardless of gender thank you!

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Everyone knows women don’t play video games! /s (Sadly, I had to debate putting that last part in given how some actually think.)

3 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

You would think after watching/paying dozens of women while they game in their underwear, they would be convinced gamer girls exist.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Im just trying to figure out how they keep getting my underwear. It's costing me a fortune.
