The problem is Trump knows how to exploit the media. He knows that, if he just says or does some dumb shit, the media will pounce on it because they want the clicks and the page views for advertisement revenue. This keeps him in the spotlight which is what he craves.
What they need to do is just ignore him and not report on him instead of giving him attention.

The way it was written? It would need a bit of clean-up, but using the same premise and run as many times as it takes. Every day if needed. If not every day, every time he pulls an outlandish red-herring stunt like this. It needs to hit like a *truck*.
Repeat the message as many times as it takes to drill it into as many peoples heads. And simple is better. Call it what it is. Don't pacify it. If it does becomes gentle, smooth, quiet or otherwise low-key, the message gets lost.

The media has been soft on Trump for years. When he lies, they should be explicitly calling out his lies. They use gentle language and sane-wash the FUCK out of him, but Biden and Harris have to be PERFECT or the media is throwing out panicky headlines. It's a disgusting double standard and it has proven that the media really actually CAN'T be trusted very much.

Confusing I know, but "the media" did not attack Biden for his garbage comment - media reported other people attacking Biden. If the Democrats were playing the same game as the Republicans, there would be a ton of juicy Democrat quotes to fling back. But they're not, so there isn't.
It is true that Trump gets more headlines than Biden/Harris. But it's also true that headlines are mostly negative. Republicans use that metric to also claim "the media" is biased, forgetting Trump is a twat.
