Oat Silk. Surprisingly OK. A splash or two doesn’t ruin a cup of coffee and it mixes and cooks with oatmeal better than cows milk IMO.

Love this stuff. Peanut butter doesn’t need sugar added, actually tastes better without it. Off putting oil rises to the top but just stir that shit back in before you take a scoop.

This stuff is fucking disgusting. Maybe it’s an acquired taste but I’d rather just do without.

Morning Star crumbles. Jury still out on this one. I think I might need to sauté it longer than the directions say? Idk

This stuff is great! Prepare it with the recommended skillet directions and you’ve got some badass crispy facon in 6 minutes.

This stuff is my new favorite thing. I’d trade this for sour cream if I was still eating like shit everyday. It’s so good that it wouldn’t surprise me if they get in trouble for lying about what’s in it.

Doggo tax. My bitch Bailey right before adoption. Y’all have healthy shit that tastes good?? Edit: This stuff isn’t all I eat guys. Of course tons of fruit and veggies is part of my new diet as well. You guys are like a fucking broken record with that shit.

Shop the outer perimeter of the supermarket. Everything you need to eat healthy is there. Not in the frozen section or out of a box.

#2 I will never forget seeing my father in law on his knees using a fork held in a drill to re-mix the Costco size separated peanut butter.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Oat milk is da shizzle. Tastes better in coffee too than cow milk imo.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Who knew oats had such sweet, sweet titties.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Be super careful with "no sugar added". Recently cut processed sugar and they'll SAY no sugar added but then have it in the ingredients c>

Oh and look up recipes for chia seed pudding. I love that with berries and a banana in it. It's a very tasty treat.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

@op there's an Imgurian cookbook discord if you'd like to join us! Lots of great advice you can get there. https://discord.gg/QsskWWv

Don’t know if anyone suggested storing your PB upside down. Gets rid of the oil stirring.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You are on the right track. Kudos. I cut out most processed foods, dairy, and meat. Lost 60 lbs never felt fucking better. Do daily walks1/2

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

But please eat mostly fruits, veggies, nuts, beans, Fish here and there. Get Chobani Oatmilk. Non gmo and no pesticides on the oats. PROUD!

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Start eating real veggies and not “replacement” things. Try cooking with 5 raw ingredients or less per meal.

4 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

5 or less? Zero is less than 5. That can't help all that much

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

You do have to eat though… just don’t eat processed food. Make your own meals from simple raw ingredients.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dairy free, gluten free, low FODMAP?

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Thank science I’m not the only person who had to do FODMAP. Damn fructans in wheat don’t mix well with my gut.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Look to Asian cuisine for recipe ideas, they’re easier to modify when many dishes are dairy/gluten free to start with.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You wanna eat healthy: ditch the processed foods (which, excluding doggo, is EVERYTHING you posted) and cook from scratch.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Cashew milk is also good. You’re right, the dairy free cheese is disgusting. Highly recommend homemade black been burritos.

4 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

If they’re doing low FODMAP, beans of all kinds are a huge no unfortunately

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

hm, kale? toss it in a fruity smoothie and you can barely taste it. or, make kale chips! you could also do a salad if that’s more your thing

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm confused is #3 made from shredded cutting boards? Also 100% agree on the peanut butter. No need for adds to that, just peanuts.

4 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 2

Shredded cutting boards would probably taste better.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Its made from coconut. Cutting boards is considered "fancier" or better than the regular shreds.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Store your natural peanut butter jar upside down, keeps the oil moving.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I pour it off when first open and just deal with it being thicker than the usual.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Just stir it in with a hand mixer!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No way! "You do it once, you'll have to do it every time" and I prefer to get my extra fats in form of Amish butter...

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Morningstar black bean burgers are the best. Try those.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

But be careful of the sodium. Those things are loaded with salt.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Roasting (drizzle w/olive oil + whatever spices you like and cook ~400°F for 25ish minutes) is my favorite way to cook vegetables.Sweet(1/2)

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

(2/2) Potatoes, carrots, zucchini, and different typees of squash are all good cooked that way!

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Harvest snaps!! Best damn snack ever.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

If you need more leafy greens try chucking some spinach in when you make pasta sauce or stew or casserole. It wilts down to almost nothing

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

and if you can be bothered to chop it you won’t even notice it’s there. Some places also sell it frozen in pre-chopped pellets

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Spinach is gross. Baby greens or turnip greens are my favorite

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I used to think spinach was gross, but I like it now. I even put it in my burritos instead of lettuce.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All the folks saying to avoid processed foods and cook fresh are not wrong. But it's okay to ease into things, and slowly break the (1/2)

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

connection in your mind that you need meat and cheese to feel satisfied. One step at a time is fine, as long as you make steady progress.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I agree. Sometimes people who aren't used to eating healthy foods, need to be eased into that direction. It looks like they're eliminating..

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dairy and probably red meat. This will probably be a process for this person.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes. It’s about reducing inflammation that causes me constant pain. No dairy, no red meat.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I figured ☺️ try Gardein products. I haven't tried any of their soups, but most of their frozen products are pretty good.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Make the healthy stuff easier to eat. Buy grapes and immediately de-stem them. Keep berries, baby carrots, etc. in easy access in the fridge

4 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

TBF eating grapes is basically like eating skittles, they are full of sugar.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Who told you that? A minute on Google proved that's total BS.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wash and dry the grapes, then put them in little sandwich baggies, then freeze them overnight. Frozen seedless grapes are like candy. If

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

you don't dry them though, you get a bunch of frozen droplets stuck to them, which is meh.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I once wrote a review of a daiya frozen pizza so scathing they gave me a shit ton of coupons for free shit. Threw them directly in the trash

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Well now I want to read the review!

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I find daiya cheese pizza to be one of the better alternatives to other vegan pizzas. Then again, ive never had regular pizza. And 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

There arent a lot of vegan pizza options where im at. I like to add goat cheese to them.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Why are you eating fake pizza and putting real cheese on it?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Allergic to cows milk but not goats milk.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

check the packaging on oatmilk, its very likely filled with sugar.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Unsweetened soy/oat/almond/cashew/whatever are usually right beside the sweetened ones

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sweet oat titties.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The crumbles are nasty imo. Try morningstar farm grillers original. You can crumble them up yourself and it's so much better!!

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I like the gardein crumbles in pasta sauce

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I prefer the beyond version or even Boca over the mostar crumbles! Solid sub for anyplace you'd use ground turkey or beef.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Quorn products are really good too. Been a vegetarian for 30 years. DM me if you have any questions. :)

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Was about to say, I won't touch Morning Star crumbles, but Qourn are solid. Especially with taco sauce.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Soyrizo is great! And I love oatmilk.

4 years ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 1

I still like my milk for certain things, but with Oats it's damn Skippy nutmilks (can't get over the name) are tasty af.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Came here to say that. Soyrizo is better than some chorizos I've had.

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

The seasoning makes the chorizo, not the meat. Sadly most American chorizo brands I've tried are... badly seasoned. :(

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I usually prefer almond, but yeah, it's better than I thought.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

+1 for soyrizo. Which isn’t Spanish for “I am rizo” btw.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Same way soy milk is just regular milk introducing itself.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Frieda’s? It doesn’t look like the word is trademarked.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

No Evil has some great fauxrizo and a bunch of other awesome meat alternatives

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I haven't had that specific one, I just grab whatever the store has. Trader Joe's has a good one, I know. But Safeway or w/e is good too.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

We do plain Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. Similar flavor and texture. Mixed into stuff you can't tell.

4 years ago | Likes 75 Dislikes 0

We do that too and make our own yogurt at home. It's really easy too! Just need a gallon of milk, 3 cups of powdered milk, and 1 cup of(1/2)

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

starter yogurt (you can use leftover of what you just made). It does have to sit in your oven (or other warm place) for 24 hours, though.2/2

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Was looking for this. I switched out sour cream for greek yogurt ... 6 years ago? Haven't found a recipe yet that it can't be swapped for.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Leave it on the counter overnight and Greek yogurt will get more sour and tastes like sourcream.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Me too!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same, and low fat if you wanna be a bit healthier ?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Low fat yogurt isnt necessarily healthier, a lot of the time they just replace the fat with sugar

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exactly - I meant only unflavoured ones like greek yoghurt or skyr (Icelandic).

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you are eating the flavored ones. Unflavored ones are healthy.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also try different brands, some start tangier than others.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In terms of vegan cheese - check out Violife. Daiya brand is straight up plastic and it’s awful

4 years ago | Likes 239 Dislikes 1

i like daiya, use it for quesadillas, tacos, wraps, nachos, fake eggs, pizza and whatnot

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The cheese flavor tastes like cheeto powder rather than real cheese

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I HATE how daiya the default for all the pizza places to go vegan. It's just awful, the smell alone makes me gag. Cashew-based all the way.

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Kite hill cream cheese is the shiz

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Miyoko’s Creamery is actually good

4 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

The miyokos mozzarella on pizza is so yummy when cooked right! Mmmmm

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Miyoko’s Creamery is actually yummy!

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Hey j just wanted to say I'm a junk food vegan and in my opinion violife is the absolute worst cheese brand! Sheese is the best x

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I second this motion.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I'm being forcibly moved away from dairy, and I can only tolerate the Daiya cheese with chili. If I can taste it, it's awful.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also even better, if you don't have nut allergies, cashew and almond cheeses are amazing. I prefer them to dairy cheese.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I second this. And I eat normal cheese. I use this when I'm cooking for my vegan friend and this is actually really solid

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It melts into vegan burritos and the like okay. By itself unmelted: pretty bad.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Daiya sounds like “daya” a word in Tagalog which roughly translates to cheat/hoodwink.

4 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Yeah daiya is awful, violife is def the best I’ve tried

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Plastic is spot on.

4 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 0

Vevan shreds are really good. I think Good Planet or Good Life is another yummy brand. Daiya hasn't been good for me

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I really liked Chao slices

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yes! The original and the garden herb are delicious. I eat the slices plain, hard to find a good fake cheese to eat plain

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I switched to goat cheese instead of cow cheese and have loved it. No more tummy troubles. But still not plant based.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There's some kinds of cow's milk that you can probably digest too. I can now get "a2" brand for less than goat's milk, and can digest it too

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Boil potato, carrots and onions until soft. Blend with nutritional yeast, garlic and onion powder, salt and chili. Better than real 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

cheese sauce and I'm not even vegan. Healthy too, no fat or sugar. Gotta blend it super smooth though. 2/2

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How much of everything?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Plenty of recipes on the net. Experiment a bit and find out the best ratio for you.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Morning star chickie nugs!! I'm a carnivore and i still would never turn down a plate of those

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

That’s the kinda advice I’m looking for. Do you dip them in anything?

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

When you're on the go or craving fast food (if you're a fatass like me), burger kings impossible whopper is really good, and the whopper is

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

my favorite fast food burger. The impossible version won't quite win a blind taste test, but if I'll still occasionally order it instead

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like mixing ketchup, mustard, and either tapatio or sriracha. Bbq sauce is also good

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Quorn meatless filets (fake chicken) are really good! Not the cheese ones, just regular. I make chicken sandwiches with them. Delish!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No offence, but everything you have presented is processed. Buy fresh stuff and cook for yourself, you will be Much better off.

4 years ago | Likes 262 Dislikes 9

yeah, buy stuff and process it yourself! /s

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 24

Ya none of this is real food

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

Srsly, bacon, peanut butter, cheese and sour cream?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not bacon, bs plant bacon lolll

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe the issue was cholesterol, in which case this would help

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I stopped taking it seriously when he showed Skippy. Seriously, go with actual peanut butter and not peanut butter spread.

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

If dairy is the problem then the dairy alts are good. Thoughts on bacon substitute vs high levels of nitrates in cured pork?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just don't eat bacon. I dropped butter, coffee, alcohol, most fats because I couldn't handle them after glandular fever. 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You get used to not having stuff. I am back in coffee after 10 yrs, but not the rest.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Was just curious as to how plant based but processed foods stack up, I don't typically eat bacon often myself.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For those of us who aren't cooks and don't want to spend hours every day cooking, that's just not going to fly.

4 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 47

I'd suggest investing the time in practicing making good things quickly. In no time at all it shouldn't take hours.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This can also include dealing with the mess while you prepare. It's a skill, to be sure.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Meal prep is your friend. It takes just as long to cook four times as much

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Cooking a meal takes about 20-30 mins. You should only be spending hours if you're cooking up a feast

4 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 14

There's more that goes into it besides putting the prepared ingredients into a hot pan, though even that takes quite a while if you're not »

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 3

used to it. Besides that, there are shopping, learning how to prepare a dish, washing, and preparing the ingredients. Granted, a fried egg »

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

doesn't take much effort, but let's assume there's want for something a little fancier than that.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Now now hold on. I cook all the time and I average an hour full process with dishes and cleaning. Sometimes you gotta pick your battles.

4 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Also... I assume peanut butter and meat and milk substitutes weren't included in that, but still, how do you expect OP to make bacon?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Of course peanut butter is processed. One can eat actual peanuts. As for plant based dairy alternatives they are of course also processed

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

food and one can just eat, yknow, plants. This is NOT to say it can't be fine to eat those foods. Just they aren't particularly "healthy".

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you need to fix up your diet, bacon is not part of that diet.

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Super easy from carrots eg. but also: bacon isn‘t part of what you would call a „good diet“ ?

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It has nitrates and all of the PUFAs, so yeah.. just eat real meat. Pastured beef ftw

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Imo alternatives aren't always healthier. Eat more veggies instead.

4 years ago | Likes 1027 Dislikes 18

Absolutely! Lots of Vegan alternatives are actually very high in sodium for examples. Fat-free = high sugar often too

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was gonna say - I eat fake meat because I'm vegetarian, but I don't consider it to be health food. Much better to focus on eating 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

unprocessed stuff, though this stuff is fine, too.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good point - I read that peanut butter is no more healthy than regular butter, just different type of fat. What IS healthy though, 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

is using BOTH regular and peanut butter interchangeably, this way you keep good doses of either fat type. 2/2

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I agree. I’m guessing healthier, but not healthy.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

v

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Why did the doc recommend this and what exactly? @op

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Also something like an avocado or an egg are healthy in moderation. I suggest focusing on one food type at a time such as grains or veggies

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

AFAIK you should not really focus on one type of food, but rather strive for rich and balanced diet.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wake up every morning at sunrise to milk the teet of my oats

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lmao yeah, came to say that. Make your own burgers with lean beef, salad on the side. Lentil soup. Chickpea curry. Sub out butter for evoo

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Who downvotes food suggestions?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unless @OP’s problem is cholesterol then the vegan options are going to be helpful

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm not sure I understand your point. Mine was that there are plenty of great tasting, cheap food options

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lean beef will still have cholesterol, so if they have a problem with cholesterol vegan is a good option

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dietary cholesterol doesn't really impact blood cholesterol iirc

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What do you think half of these are made of?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

But a ton of other things are added to make it closer to meat. Burger alternatives for example are higher in calories and fat.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Really depends on the burger. Most are lower in fat (especially saturated), but usually slightly lower protein and higher carbs.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

looks like a lot of legumes (closer to bean than veggie) and grain.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Also as processed products they may have lost some of the fibers or vitamins which makes eating the actual plant healthier.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well yea. I’m eating as much veggies as I can handle. These products are about still trying to enjoy food

4 years ago | Likes 246 Dislikes 3

I learned how to cook with veggies tastes better at this point thene anything i used to cook :D

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If youre doing anything calorie-wise watch out with peanut butters

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sliced pumpkin (no need to peel) tossed in a bit of oil and with your fav spices (mix it up). Roast in oven and add some feta/fresh basil

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Give some new cuisines a try, if you haven't yet! Lots of food offer flavorful healthy choices with veggies (https://www.196flavors.com/)

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wat (Ethiopian), egusi soup (central African), shakshuka (North African), namul (Korean), horta (Greek), phkali (Georgian), are great to try

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The cheese works in quesadillas, eggs, white version works on pizza. texture/flavor for someone who hasn't had cheese in years

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I understood this to be a review of *products * who wants to see a review of broccoli... Nothing new there

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have a friend that brags about not eating sugar, then talks about all the juice they drink. Sometimes things that sound healthier aren't.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

My stepson tries to get us to let him eat sweet things by saying, "but it's a natural sugar!" Being natural doesn't make it healthy, kid.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One thing you need Ras El Hanout spice blend you'll put that shit on Everything

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Good start! The good news is that once you start eating something, after some time you will start to crave it. And when you stop eating... 1

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Something, after some time you won't miss it. It's because of the bacteria on your bowel. It will change. 2

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Experiment with different preparations and seasonings for your veggies. Hopefully you’ll get to enjoying them just as much.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But these products don't seem like they necessarily have fewer calories and such. They just seem like vegan stuff.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

That oatmilk is pretty sugary but we don’t know what OP is going for. So it might be meeting his or her needs. Same for other products.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Bro you might as fucking well

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lol. You need some help then. That stuff is garbage. If you want I can send some meal ideas.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nah fellow earthling. Real, whole vegetables are where the real good flavor is. Baking them can bring out or instill amazing flavors. I❤meat

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

As well as veggies

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Let me add though, if you like it, eat it. Moderation is my key

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

As a vegan, Daiya tastes like fucking shit If you really need to scratch your cheese itch go with Miyoko's. Also just avoid "cheddar" shreds

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have yet to find any vegan cheddar shreds worth buying after years of searching. Follow Your Heart = crap. Violife = meh.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Grill vegetables and red meat/ fish. Tastes awesome every time.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

grass-fed beef/lamb, raw grass-fed dairy, wild-caught fish, fresh organic fruits are all amazing foods that are healthier for you.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

all that processed vegan junk isn't going to do anything for you, stick to whole unprocessed foods and ditch the grains.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ratatouille (https://www.food.com/recipe/ratatouille-285558) with a side of crusty buttered bread.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't make it like they do in the movie, that's not real ratatouille

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ruffles isn't actually helping; they're just posting their opinion as a lampshade to shame you for buying alternatives.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Morning star products are AMAZING. Sausage patties, Buffalo chicken wings, corndogs. All great. Low on calories and cholesterol

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Long time vegetarian here. My best tip for sticking to the healthy diet is to make sure you’re getting more complete protein chains. >>

4 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 0

>> such as wheat + nuts. Or rice + lentils. Having more complete protein in your diet can really help. :)

4 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

seriously important when cutting out meat protein if you go the veggie route!

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My absolute favourite veggie cook book is “River cottage - veg every day”. It really helped me get creative with basic ingredients.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In my experience you will grow to enjoy the veggies and fruits. But you have to learn where to buy good ones, how to cook them, use spices..

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

...and ultimately sticking with processed foods (even "healthier alternatives") might make the cravings for that sort of food last longer.

I used to have a big sweet tooth and had to cut out candy and sugary treats entirely to learn to enjoy fruit. (not forever but for a while)

Look out for salt, that's the real killer. As for cheese- personally I find it better to just go without, I've never had a good fake cheese

Modern Times Brewery does an all vegan menu. Not sure where they get it, but their coconut cheese is the best tasting approximation ever.

I'll have to give it a try!

Same been vegan for like 12 years I rarely use any substitutes.

Some substitutes can help hit the spot I've found, but yeah, most of the time you gotta just change the diet completely.

I like to bake skinned beats whole, wrapped in tin foil. Bake till soft, slice into a bowl and salt that shit. Simple and tasty

If you roast them in individual tin foil packets with the skin on and a little bit of water, the skin wipes off with a papertowel. No peel.

Goat cheese sprinkled on those beets!

I pickle beets, they're great as a snack or in salads. I use the leftover juice to then pickle eggs. Again good on their own or in a salad

Pickled beets are amazing. They are a staple at my grandma's house.

Also baked brussel sprouts, with olive oil and your choice of seasonings. Just slice them in half and keep baking till they're crispy

My gf is vegetarian so I dont eat as much meat as I used to, but I have found I dont crave meat much anymore, havent had bacon in ages

Drizzle some balsamic vinegar on them halfway through cooking. Both the beets and sprouts.

Came here to recommend the balsamic vinegar. Amazing!

I’m also supposed to be cutting my sodium intake as much as possible. I like beets though and will give a whirl. Thanks

Add a bunch of peeled garlic into the tin boil instead of salt :) delish

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

A sprig of rosemary and a bit of garlic help with the less salt rule.

Mrs dash makes low or no sodium mixes of seasonings that are good. Those are my favorite for veggie seasons of like steamed stuff.

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Try it with a mix of 2 dl water 1 teaspoon vinegar 1 coffee spoon of sugar and a pinch of salt. Best thing on theworld!

Im not the biggest fan of daiya cheese either. I perfer follow your heart. Sodium is hiding EVERYWHERR! I am also low sodium and dairy free.

I think it sounds good with or without the salt. Definitely still worth a try.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yea it's good without salt too, or just lightly salt, it doesn't take much

Heads up so you can avoid an awkward doctors visit, after you eat beats it may look like you’re shitting blood the next day. You’re not.

Unless he is ...

We learned this cleaning up our diet. Make your own stuff instead. Even if it's "fatty" you can control the ingredients. Replacement /1

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Isn't necessary when you change your view: I'm not replacing (meat for eg), I'm making dishes with veggies. There's millions of recipes /2

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

From around the world for almost any selection. Instead of missing what you can't eat, explore what you can! /3

For a lot of people, and I mean a LOT of people, "make your own stuff" is just not an option. That's a fucktonne of fucking work.

Not everything is, and much of it is mostly in the beginning while you learn how to do it.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cooking anything from scratch is a time investment, more so when replacing something easy with something with more steps involved

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is the height of arrogance to tell people to "just" make everything themselves, as if everyone has the same time and energy available

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's great that it works for you. It's assholery of the highest order to condescendingly assume it must for everyone else

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is condescending to assume honest attempts of encouragement must be assholish. But you do you.
