I just want to call out that dudes gun control. I can't tell in the first half of the video but it looks like the trigger finger isn't anywhere near the trigger in the 2nd half. There's also that semi-wild swing with the gun but as soon as it starts to up toward the camera you can see him point it down.
You may or may not like guns, but one has to admire that dude's gun control.

I would suggest it's related to the tranquilizer dart that can be clearly seen in the cats hindquarters. As the human has climbed into a very precarious position to dart the cat I would suggest it's for science and/or conservation.

Funnily, my cat hates guns. She knows exactly what they are and can identify them from other vaguely gun shaped stuff. Thought it was like the oil and gunpowder smell but no, she still clears out if it’s an airsoft gun. And since I’ve had her from a hand sized kitten, she’s never been even remotely near one go off.
