Recently, I posted about my Spinal Cord Stimulator Trial (link to post below)

http://imgur.com/gallery/B4FRXbk

The Good News:

My trial went amazingly well and I'm having a permanent Spinal Cord Stimulator implanted on January/February 2021. My husband and I are so thrilled!!! After recovery from my surgery (3-6 months), I can get a job again. I was a Forensic Histologist until my pain crippled me and I had to quit. I can't wait!!!!

Cat Tax (Kiyou and Ella, my little, fluffy nurses)

This is wonderful news! I was waiting for your update!!

My wife has had one of these for nearly 20 years. It changed our lives. She had two sets of leads and unit battery changes, but so worth it

Wow I'm glad for you

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It only blocks nerve pain.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I got mine 5 years ago in my mid 20s. Changed my life. Got my strength back and now don't use it at all! Best decision I ever made. Get it!!

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I encourage you to talk to a pain specialist - we've greatly expanded what we can do with SCS and DRG/peripheral nerve stimulation!

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

I'll have to see what the VA says but I'll try everything

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Agreed. Not all stims are created equal. Boston scientific has mri compatible ones now too.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What about for trigeminal neuralgia(TN1). All my doctor does is give me meds that have to be doubled up in 3 months for ineffectiveness.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes! I know some of our boys over in Europe were doing trigeminal field stimulation for that. TN can be very tough to treat, good luck!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Has your brain been scanned? If they can find a lesion, they can patch it or remove it.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah. It's a nerve that is being pressed down on in my head. Its inoperable and doctor says its just one of those bad luck draws lol.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Plus even if it were operable my insurance wouldn't cover it per my doctor. And I don't have the funds for that lol.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Congrats OP! Me thinks you should do another post about what a forensic histologist does. Pretty please?

5 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 0

Yes please!

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yes Please!

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Yes. We need to know more

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I'm in medical histology, we pretty much mount bits of diseased human tissue into wax blocks and cut a super thin cross sections from 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

The block which is then mounted on a slide and stained. A histologist would look at the slide under a microscope to see 2/3

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Any cellular abnormalities (i.e. cancer, disease) in the cells of the tissue. Never heard of forensic histology though.

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

It’s when the histologist is looking for cells that commit crimes (gang positive, if you will. I’ll see myself out)

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

You too then, give us some pics of funky cells and tissues, or the stains and equipment you use. Teach us a thing!
