Back when I was growing I hopped on Instagram and I swear every single interaction made me feel stupider than before so I just deleted it and forgot about it. And it wasn't like because everybody I was interacting with was smart and made me feel dumb. It was that they were so dumb just having interacted with them made me somehow feel like I had lost intelligence by the end of it.
Instagram comment sections remind me of old /b/. Like 06'-08'. It is a lawless wasteland but if you like REALLY dark humor and understand it, then you're at home. I like when I get on bigrig and car Instagram.
How do you use Instagram? What about it makes you feel rushed?
I only follow a few people, and only venture out of that bubble when I feel like it. And the algorithm only shows me stuff related to the kinds of accounts I follow, so very rarely anything with a different vibe from what I've already chosen to see.
Also, telling the algorithm you're not interested in certain posts really helps. Even if it's not objectionable, if it's just not what you want to see whm browsing on there, worth doing if you want to stay on Instagram with a better experience.
Its not that much what it is, but how much it is. And the speed of the new content… today I tried to go back to a post I saw earlier, and it was buried in new content, so much so, that even when I went to the account and looked for the post, they were hundred posts only since then… its way too much, and way too fast…

If I need an account to use something I just don't use it.

I've never used instagram, but I do understand the wish to live slower. Me too, buddy. Me too.

So basically you don't know what an algorithm is.

I got rid of it and kept this. Not sure what that says about me...

Instagram at least tailors your feed. Here you're gonna see it no matter what as long as it isn't tagged.
