Stockholm Syndrome. I love you. We should totally get married.

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Mine is that Stockholm Syndrome isn't what people think it is "Siding with kidnappers because of being trapped too long", but is in fact because the hostages were treated well by the bad guys and feared the police in the situation.

Later on the authorities decided that the robbers had brainwashed the hostages instead of the reality of cops being incompetent and them having to negotiate their own safety and release.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

The fact that you measure degree of sobriety rather than degree of drunkenness is probably a bad sign for your health

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Alcohol isn't the only thing that affects sobriety

Something that's wild to think about is that literally all words in every language are all derived from use. Not from some ancient official source, not derived from logic. It's just use. It's always been use.
The "official" words are compiled after they are already used so frequently that the old words were forgotten or simply used less frequently.
Often, words are stolen from other languages and misused, abused, transformed and then finally made "official" in some asshole's book of many words.

The Académie Française would like a word (ho ho) “For example, the Académie has recommended the avoidance of loanwords from modern English (such as walkman, computer, software and e-mail), in favour of neologisms, i.e. newly coined French words derived from existing ones (baladeur, ordinateur, logiciel, and courriel respectively).”
Yes, this is fairly silly of them and few of their neologisms stick, but still.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I’d say the odds are higher than you think based on how often I see those commercials

Ever occur to you that all your devices are watching and listening to you?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel like during daytime tv, it’s possible to watch a show where that’s the only commercial that plays.
