I will immediately bookmark this for future use, then forget all about it and more likely than not, never use this trick.

Nobody knows how to tie the simple knots that I know ....

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Faved and forgotten.

Sheet bend. Sheet = sail. Works with two cords, usually with a thicker rope replacing the sheet

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Easier: joins two lines of different thickness

Favorite and forget

I will knot remember this

It's for the best... This, like many other simple knots, falls apart when tension is lost.

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's knot.

Still won't hold long term. As a seasoned festival camper golf balls or small small rocks are better. NEVER use the eyelets.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a former Scouts Canada member for 12 years, FUCK them eyelets!

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"FUCK them eyelets!" - Said the gentle breeze to the first time camper

Huh, this is 3 posts over and 6 hrs ago to me right now

Sheet bend?

6 months ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

It sure did!

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yup, just a variation on the methodology.

6 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

In scouts I always thought it was called the sheep bend. But I did grow up in the South, so you never know.

Sheet is the nautical term for a rope that controls the angle of a sail

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Four sheets to the wind

I'm aware now, but not when I was 10 and every one around me spoke like they had marbles in their mouth.

The more tips n tricks shorts I watch, especially about knots, the less I know about any of those things. My brain just gives up under the sheer volume of knots I am supposed to know.

You'll never be an old timey sailor at this rate. On the bright side, the job market for those isn't great anyways, and this is probably good news for your life expectancy

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I greatly suffer with you in this way.

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've seen a few like these that are really cool, especially the one where you can tie a knot with one hand. I've practiced them. Was actually able to do it. Then... a few months later... "what the hell, how did this knot go?" Seems like you have to keep doing it over and over for it to stick. 😏

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It’s called a perishable skill. If you don’t use it you lose it.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not knoting knots is not your fault.

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's just knot possible to keep up with it all

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just favorite them to my "Tips and Tricks" folder and *then* forget about them.

6 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That does seem like a more efficient workflow, thanks for the tip.

Short fork content has ruined the human brain, especially tips/tricks/life hacks so few of them are even remotely true or actually work

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think content about long forks is much more dangerous, actually. You need to explain your reasoning.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can tie my own shoes!
That's it. That's about all the knots I know.

6 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

You have a balloon knot with you all the time

6 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I do knot have a balloon with me ;-)

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don’t remember knots, practice them. Look them up when you need one.

6 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

100%. I don't think I could visualize a figure 8 knot, but I've made hundreds, if not thousands, so even though I haven't made one in years, if you put a rope on front of me, my hands could just do it

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

you could try crochet, it's intentional knots to make something fun or cool & helps with the logic a bit.

6 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Oh what, you think I'm not man enough for knitting??

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

knitting is weaving, crochet is knotting. either can be a calming, meditative task that teaches you to either live with the mistake or undo it to make it better.

Lacemaking is witchcraft.

Now you throwing some time travel shit at me, and I'm gonna interpret that as disrespect!
