Hello everyone!
I am a solo game developer and after almost 3 years I am finally releasing my horror game called "The Backrooms 1998" where the monster can hear your microphone on Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo! It is currently out on steam however the new update contains additional improvements to AI, achievements, bug fixes, improved quality and more!
For a solo developer this is something big for me .. so I just wanted to share my excitement with you guys :) I will probably select a random 5 users here and give out some free keys to the imgur community here as well! I love it here.

Thanks for sharing, that sounds awesome, but I'm PC only right now. I am starting to develop my own game as well but I have a lot to learn, I think the game will be 2d pixel art metroidvania style but with rich lighting effects. Are you building your own assets from scratch or using existing materials? What about sounds?

Haven't had a chance to play any games for the last 10 years but recently borrowed a kids PS4 (they moved back but aren't using it so I asked and now I'm playing old games to most but new to me, Last of Us 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4)
This looks fun and will look for it, but one thought I had was, is this game multiplayer? I just thought it'd be fun to play with friends but mess with them by throwing things near them to draw the monster towards them and away from me, and vice versa.

To be fair, steam is filled with knock offs. 3 years development isn't an achievement, it's asset bundles and copy-catting the original. And these game genres (conceptual horror with low detail environments) is doing pretty well among gameplay streamers. So it's supposedly quick money grab. I know a knock off'ing is trash ethics but meh the genre is trash. There may have been a honest dev'er who started it, or lucked out among streamers, but so did the flappy bird guy and 1000s copied his game.

Personally i dont mind if people like mention it in a post or two.
I think if you show it off like i would my art, thats fine, but linking and advertising is what ticks people off i guess?
Fun thing is, if its a girl posting sfw art or pictures and links to a nsfw patreon or other site, people dosent seem as "mad" about that kinda advertising 🤷♀️

I can't guarantee this would be found "acceptable" by the community at large, but I wouldn't mind more posts about games people are making if they put more effort into their post than just "trailer + a paragraph of generic fill in the blank indie dev marketing slop + link to buy it"
Talk about experiences you had while making it, interesting challenges of development, funny bugs you squished, and that stuff. Like a dev diary thing.

Yea. I would love to see the inner workings of all the layers coming together. An empty game slowly getting filled with more features. I would be so much more hype about it. Kinda like Timelapse videos of people creating a painting or something
