No. I'm at the anger stage of grief. Gonna stay here a while. Maybe forever. I can work with anger.

I’ve never been proud of my country. We’re always behind other countries on everything but the military.

Memba when Dubya invaded a sovereign country cause „WMDs“ which proved to be a hairy guy hiding in a hole in the ground?

Mind you, saddam is an animal who deserves to rot in hell ofcourse…

The trend has been going for waaaaaay longer than 2 months, bit sure, tell that yourself, so you can find sleep

Dude. I haven't considered USA a friendly or respected country since the early 90's when I found the music of Rage Against the Machine...

56 days was all it took to turn 1930’s Germany into a Dictatorship. The U.S looks set to break this.

Yes, but look at the price of eggs and gas... and check how low inflation is and how the stock market is doing!

Oh, wait, scratch that.

At least he is the least war starting and most honest and most church going Christian and has created the most stable government while reducing the deficit…. Shite, none of that tracks either.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Well… If you think America has been considered “friendly” now I understand why 50% of you wanted Trump as president, again.

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

well, i'd push back on Friendly at times

respected too. feared, maybe, but respected might be a stretch.

Someone today tried telling me how hard serious diplomacy will be without the usa. I’m still laughing at her.

"our country has been ruined!!! hit like if you agree" is slacktivism at it's finest. You're upset about the state of things, but won't do anything more than pressing a button on a website controlled by those that are destroying the country you're talking about.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Care to provide examples of alternatives? Or are you JUST condescending?

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

When were you friendly and respected? In my nearly 40 years of life, I've not seen it very often.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I use the phrase "overt fascism" when discussing current US events. Because the US has been fascist my whole life. But they were polite about it, threw a pride flag and a fist on every bomb.

It's just now white people are also suffering.

Man, Americans seriously thought the country was perceived as friendly & respected before this?

Bet they even thought they were a bastion of democracy that didn’t turn over nearly every single government in South America because they didn’t like the election results.

The external perception of the US has never been worse; but not one ever thought highly of the country.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Take WW2, America the country was some isolationist war profiteering PoS. That never changed.

The American soldiers who came to our aid, infinitely respected and forever honored. We shouldn’t mix up the sacrifices made by individuals of quality vs. a country they happened to be from.

Ford motors likely runs ads talking about the virtues of being American, built off the back of sacrifices the company never made… that’s America.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah, just point forming. The 👍 doesn't even do anything. Somebody in the US needs to take action. I'm not on that continent so I can't really do anything. But people need to rise up. And not throw away their shot.

Sorry but no. The US has been a shithole for quite some time.

Been running on cruelty and exploitation for, oh... 249 years now, roughly.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes but have you heard of the founding farters

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You thought America was a friendly and respected country? Let me guess, your only news source is American media, and you learned history in American schools?

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

was told by relatives to say "stop believing everything bad you see online" While their only source of news they ever look at is Fox

I'm sad for tge good people but over 50% are shit to allow this to happen

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a non American it's wild to me that you guys think you were beloved before Trump. As if Reagan and the Nukes never happened.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Whose hand am I meant to hit? Do I hit it with a hammer? Is it Trumps hand? So many questions.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well it's very small, so probably, yeah

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

what is this revisionism? when was it friendly?

1 year ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

"to some people when it suited us"

WWII?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Eventually, after selling equipment to both sides, and considering joining the nazis because you hated Russia more than you liked your allies

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Can't be sad over something we deserve. Only a couple ways to fix it and I know which I would prefer to see.

Pitchforks, and torches, and guillotines, oh my!
Pitchforks, and torches, and guillotines, oh my!

Is that one of the ways?

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You absolutely can be sad about it. It's called mourning. mourning what once was.

I'd like to see people in power pushing back, but they are either: 1) afraid they'll be targeted, or 2) think they'll be part of the ruling class when it's over

1 year ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Sadly, probably not wrong on both fronts, at least enough to justify for most of them.

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I mean, the barrier is retaliation; the carrot is power, wealth, and security. If that makes sense.

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

We need to be a bigger stick then.

US has never been "friendly". It was not respected since the Bush administration. It hasn't been prosperous since before Reagan.

Obama was a nice fakeout by the shittiest country on earth

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Nit that he was any better in foreign relations, he was def elegant but he still bombed weddings, authorized extrajudicial killings, deported bazillions of people and cut a lot of budget to entities like the DOE. He was a good break but not any different than the 4 before him

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

This. You had at least a country you could basically rely on regarding several compatible goals. A strong partner in NATao as well and overall a mindset that at least overlapped in curcial parts with their partners.
You don't become a superpower by being friendly.

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yea.. It went from a vicious leopard that wasn't currently eating the west's faces, and foccussing only on everywhere else, to eating all faces.

Was never respected, just cowtowed to by juicy faced cowards that never learn how this whole leopard thing works

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

To be fair, it was "prosperous" according to the rich, because *they* were doing great.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yeah. I've had ''respect'', but it was out of ignorance. The states have been utter shit since around obama era, and it wasn't obama's fault

1 year ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Go back. Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Nixon... all those administrations made the world worse in their own way. Yes, some made it better for some Americans, but the overall trend is very negative.

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Yeah, I remember during the NSA scandal when even Angela Merkel's phone had been tapped and she'd said something profound like "you don't do this sort of thing among friends" to which the US ambassador responded by saying "the US don't have friends. We only have partners". It's true but kinda brutal if you put it like that.

1 year ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Kinda ironic coming from a German leader.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

Germany didn't start WWI. They entered it on the pretext of defending their friend; Austria, after their Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated. WWII was what it was. Since WWII, Germany has been a strong and industrious ally to the West and the defacto leader of the EU. East Germany was controlled and influenced by communist USSR so I wouldn't count them as true Germany till after the walls collapse. So what are you talking about?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0
