Other than a culture of White Supremacy, America imports its culture.

Most of what we consider "culture" is just the classist traditionalists holding over and glorifying pop culture of yesteryear.

Shakespeare is a great example. Quoting him makes people look "cultured," but his plays are filled with cross dressing and dick jokes.

Culture is just a shared means of communication and experience amongst a group based on a similar history.

People are people. It's not that anyone is any more cultured than another. It's that the vast majority anywhere only consume.

America is a *young* country. We're only just now getting to our first successful coup, of course our culture is immature.

IMO, the US, through history, have had great authors all the way. Same with painters. They made great movies up until the mid 80’s. Also brilliant videogames until late 90’s. But they don’t reach the ankles of british rock music after the early 60’s. They showed promise with the Seattle wave of bands in the 90’s, but then the almighty dollar rose its ugly head and killed it. Unfortunately.

America is the fast food of culture. A very surface level, bastardized, commercialized level of anything

"yogurt" is the Canadian/American spelling
"yoghurt" is the Western European/Australian spelling

In this rare case, the American presumably dumb spelling is actually closer to the historical origin.

"from Ottoman Turkish yugurt. The root yog means roughly 'to condense' and is related to yogun 'intense,' yogush 'liquify', yogur 'knead.'" (https://www.etymonline.com/word/yogurt)

The answer to “who hurt you, yogurt?”.

Teddy Roosevelt decided American English didn’t need fancy extra letters and I think he was right. Why are we pretending to be posh? We aren’t the smartest and we often have no sense of humour

I see what you did there

2 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The fact that OP doesn't know how most other countries spell a word just proves the meme's point.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

We invented the word and the language. Its incorrect

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

"We" the US? Dude, the only language you guys invented is third grade English.
"Yogurt/Yoghurt" comes from Turkish, ffs.

And you couldn't even punctuate that sentence correctly.

Tell me OP has never played Civ before, with out telling me OP has never played Civ before. We got Rock n Roll, We got Fast Food, We got denim jeans, we got hollywood. Jesus F fucking CHRIST we have Coca-Cola who has successfully usurped the image of Santa Clause. Clearly OP didn't think this thru before posting.

Uhm... Denim jeans are from France... "serge de Nîmes" for the fabric and "genes" referring to sailor pants.

Rest of the World: American culture sucks
Also the Rest of the World: watches American television and movies, plays American video games, listens to American music, etc etc etc

That's branding. The US has a lot of branding.

The only culture you invented is "gun"

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

We are talking about cultural exports. Gun Freedom laws is not an American legal / cultural Export. Not like Freedom of Speech is.
Since what we are talking about is American cultural exports, Your retort has no meaning here.
