NeonArchetype
Pergola not gazebo
Poopiusbutticus
It was a nice backyard to begin with, but it just wasn't maintained.
memeologees
????Wow!!!!!
RacistCoffee
That is lovely, looks like a place you want to spend your childhood. Reminds me of my grandparents place when i was a child.
BetweenTheSpreadsheets
You made room for healthy new growth!
Downvote4Love
Quite nice, but I wish that you would have kept some more of the plants
whatupcorgibutt
Needs some flowering bushes in front
iojvan
I like before more....
NotYourNiceSkitty
Unpopular opinion, it looked better before. But, if you were going for a cleaner look, that is the way to go
Guyblin
I'm more than happy for you to pay me to come make your gazebo look like this :)
DanN74
Proper manscaping. Good work!
DontEverMoveHere
Holy smokes!! I hope you do this for a living. Damn good stuff right here.
Guyblin
I don't, and never will ;) But thanks!
Lulabel73
I think it looks great!
mac821
What do you actually do, if I may ask?
flamecoloredskies
How long did this take?
miridan
How did you get all the fencing and wood clean? Pressure washer?
howwasmynamewrittenagain
Glad you put that old Ford away
rufflePlayer
Dad is a happier man ::: those who work with the earth usually are very nice work
Rathal0n
give that grass some water man
Albolobo
That must've taken a lot of effort! Looks really nice! Did you plant anything special?
Electriccarsbestcars
I liked the front before. Plants are good sound proofing. Back looks nice though!
MaasimoJones
Calm down Chip and Joanna.
nicenurse15
You did an amazing job, looks great! Must feel so rewarding.
jjskronski
To all the negative comments. There’s a difference between “green” and weeds choking everything, good work letting the garden breathe again.
QueenPlatypus
This looks great! It’s a bummer you had to pull so many plants, but ya made the right choice on which to keep. The hard work paid off!
jridley
In a lot of ways, I liked the before better. Much more plants, more comfortable looking. After looks like a lot of concrete.
emilydoom
It’s amazing the difference you get when you trim a good bit of your bush back...
khensu83
Wow what a difference, good job, now make sure you maintain it.
Baguette2000
It's cleaner, but way less interesting IMO
BilldeTurlock
!
LilyF
Presuming it's for an elderly man, less plants mean less work.
JustALullabi
Tbh I don't think there are that much plants less. Just trimmed a lot of them into a "nicer" shape
Soifon87
I like a wild garden...
OatmealTheCat
Yea, maybe a trim and pruining. But if that’s what they want...
bOObarelah
yeah, i kinda liked the before better...
Sirg
^this :(
itsybitsyspider
Yeah, it just feels odd. Of course urban houses make me uncomfortable. I like my rural quiet life.
Baguette2000
Would you say a suburban houses rather ?
PetrogradPyromaniac
As a nature loving recluse I prefer the before pics.
scarlettears
Gorgeous. Great job
Placentaur
This is incredible. As a landscaper's daughter I offer my sincerest compliments to your dad. Tell him internet strangers approve!
Guyblin
Thanks, although dad didn't do it... I did ;)
Placentaur
Oh wow really? My bad, kudos!
IamRodHull
What happened to all the plants???
HeyHowdyHey
khazorath
Fire nation attacked and everything changed...
LearnSomething
It looks good but I think it could have turned out better if you hadn't cut out most of the plants..
NunyaBizness
Plants have feelings, too.
duckgrad06
He tried smoking all of them
camelherder2
Sold it to vegetarians
404GravitassNotFound
Well he pressure washed everything so not many organic suvivors
PaulPurves
Looks like trimmed back, removed dead ones, allow the garden to be a place to enjoy rather than having to hack a path through the jungle.
madethistocommenttomakesure
same thought. they actually managed to remove most of what gave that garden a personality.
michonnedisapproves
Definitely lost a bit of charm
Honeysukklesue
They ded.
eastend666
I assume you're a Brit. Don't you guys love greenery?
QueenPlatypus
I’ve worked at plant nurseries and as a gardener. Some plants actually have a limited lifespan and will wonk out after so many years.

Yeah I was watching the photos and thinking "he killed everything" I do gardening for a living and everytime Isee something like this is sad
Fert
Way too much concrete. I’d pull everything and go a bit more natural with native plants, a hill and lots mulch.
NapkinBob
It doesn't look like he added any concrete or Pavers. Just cleaned up what was there.
MacrossGirl
They went to go live on a farm with a lot of room and other plants to play with.
BumbleBeeBeardedGingerBear
This seems like a 'I understand that these plants have been too much for me to keep up with' cleanup.
Uhmatar
Yeah, why cut/get rid off some many of them...
dogfrost9
Because they don't want them and they can.
Vonya
Overgrowth and weed development can cause more harm than good. Best to reset and restart
Uhmatar
But they had kinda nice "secret garden" thing going on there...
AideenSK
We have to do this. Got a house with a garden full of bamboo. Stuff is everywhere.
bigbootybigfoot
I'd kill for a backyard with half the green, but I have a brown thumb and dirt too tough to dig in.
Jasminewasmyheart
But, but, the peonies!! Why take out the peonies??
BetweenTheSpreadsheets
It takes major effort to cultivate so many living things. That can turn the yard from a place of relaxation, in to a never ending chore.
LoodGookin
2) But I can't just say let it go for a couple of months or else I will have weeks of work to do.
LoodGookin
I don't think a lot of people understand this. I have a large garden and it takes more hours a week than I would like to give it. 1)
Raccoonlifeainteasy
They're just plants people. Sensitive much? Dang. For job, OP. Some people are never happy.
Raccoonlifeainteasy
*Good

They provide the oxygen I breath so the more the merrier.

HelloMax
What’s the deal with adding “much” to words that describe people? It’s such a weird sentence structure. Are ppl young or just bad at English
NapkinBob
He's just used much in place of often, or frequently,or perhaps very, then shortened it. "are you very sensitive".
nwaw
It's a pretty common turn of phrase and has been for quite a while.
LuckyDirt
Some people like leaves more than bricks.
ThelmaTidwell
Some people shouldn’t live in this guy’s yard then.
LuckyDirt
Was that an option?
NapkinBob
Accepting that other people have differing tastes? That's always an option.
