Front

This was a house we finished back in 2014.

House design: Tim Goodwin (Homeowner). Project Manager: Andrew Chambers (Contractor/Builder). Crafting/Tradesmen: Roland (Father) and Michael Collins (Son/Me).

Back

When my father and I arrived, This house was just a slab atop dirt. With time/money and a plan. We guided this home into fruition.

Entry/Foyer

This house was really fun to build. New concepts (To us mountain folk), also made this an educational experience. With things like electrical conduit for the stair balusters. Reclaimed cherry panels leading up the wall. Gave us an ability to open up and try things out of the norm. Which to our surprise turned out well.

Living Room

This house is 1 bedroom 2 full bath. With a additional bedroom/media room. Features like a outdoor fireplace and shower. It is tucked away in the heart of the Great Smokey Mountains.

Master Bedroom

Outdoor Shower

This house is now a vacation rental. Watershed cabins in Bryson, North Carolina.

I really enjoyed being apart of this project, it has really opened my eyes. Everyone involved was a real team player. I really hope to work with Tim again.

My father and I have more work on our facebook.

Thanks for checking this out. As for the points, i care not. Upvote, downvote, I just liked sharing this. As I worked hard and take pride in my work.

EDIT: Thanks for all the support guys can't beleive this made it to FP! It will make me just want to work that much harder.

As for the comments about this house or "Cabin" being mine. As the Story tells, THIS IS NOT MY HOUSE. I built this for a client.

IKEA Poang chair ruins another beautiful home.

Just visited a watershed cabin in Bryson City a couple weeks ago! Not this one, unfortunately, but I'd love to stay here next time!

Awesome, yeah I would like to build more for them. Tim has great ideas.

Fuck you and your awesome cabin. I'm really happy for you, and am not jealous at all.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Awesome looking place. The first shot had me thinking it was a model at first due to the blurred edges.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What's the retail on one of those?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd love to live in a log cabin. Modern, traditional, whatever. Unfortunately my wife hates them. Anyway, amazing work, man.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Logs are needy, they need upkeep every 6 months or so. Depending on location and sunlight.

Yo dawg, i heard you like windows.

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

With views like that, why WOULDN'T you put windows everywhere? Nice houses up in the mountains in Colorado are the same way.

Love the fireplace!

Working with the reclaimed cherry wood panels was a feat itself.

@op: AN ability* if it's before a word that starts with a vowel, it's AN.

Good catch, I knew there was one somewhere.

Step 1: stop being broke.

9 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 2

Why does everything else, computers, cars, phones decrease in price in time and improve but houses don't?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks Paris Hilton

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thats hot.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Step 1: Be 'broke' (according to Paris Hilton)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, what was the approximate cost @op?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

325k ballpark

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's it?! Damn you California. Damn you.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wow! Look at all that wood!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

All locally milled timber.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did you soak that milled timber in wood?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You and me have differing definitions of a cabin

9 years ago | Likes 103 Dislikes 3

Yup, looks kinda like a house to me.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

"a small shelter or house, made of wood and situated in a wild or remote area." I mean it's just at 1k sq/ft and in the woods.

9 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 4

1k square feet and small. I can't compute this. Is your family worth half a million bucks and grew up in a McMansion?

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 6

That's really not that big.. if this is considered a house, not like a shack in the woods, 1000 sq ft is well below the average.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Again. I built this for a client.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Half a million bucks doesn't buy you an eighth o an acre where I live, 2million gets you 1/3

last is house imo

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I agree. But there is differences between that and my post. While the arcitecture is similar. The framing and materials are different.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cabin is just a type of house. All wood house that's secluded. We are just disagreeing, but both right.
