Selwa Hussain, one of two people in England that has to carry this special backpack everywhere she goes.

There is this woman in England who carries her 'heart' in her backpack

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5223593/Britains-woman-carry-heart-backpack.html

Cue Nirvana's box shaped heart.

The tubes connect to air actuators in her heart cavity, pumping blood around.

If it breaks or fails in any way, she has 90 seconds to get to her backup machine.

Im having a panic attack thinking about this. Amazing for her to be able to smile.

Don't come to the US, our cops or TSA will assassinate you and say they thought you had a "device" and get pension and trophies.

I really want to go to a cardiac perfusion school. This shit is so interesting to me.

Is it a Jansport?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You just know those tubes are gonna get caught on a stroller

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Someone’s gonna trip on them forsure

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

TSA: please remove and stand in line. It will be a short wait in our lines.

I imagine that she doesnt travel, and if she does, its most likely concealed and checked in private with prior notice that she is coming.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Imagine in like 20 years when this is obsolete and some weird grotesque technology.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I hope that's the case.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Man this remindes me of repoman

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Should have a backup inside of it

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Battery backup I imagine

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No it says if it fails she has 90 seconds to get to the backup it should have its own backup

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, problem is weight, cos it has to be portable. Not to mention that this machine is already several notches above any consumer [1]

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

appliance in regard to failure security. [2]

Stay the fuck out of America, knowing our dumbass country we'll think it's a bomb and end up making her take it off killing her.

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 9

Damn foreigners taking our backpack hearts

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

First I read that as “received 100,000 jet pack” and I was like fuck! I missed out again.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Box shaped heart.... this kills me

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Heart shaped box? Also watch out for pickpockets

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's the joke

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Haha. I just got it. Whoosh!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In 10 years it'll be the size of your hand

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

They already do, it's called an L-VAD. Not sure why she needs the backpack over it

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I imagine that L-VAD is for partial congenital heart failure, and this device is for total heart failure.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why are our hands going to get so big?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wanted one from the title, after reading I'm good

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Heart on the sleave is for amateurs.

Walking through a doorway and one of those hoses gets caught on the door handle. You thought getting earbuds pulled out hurt.....

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it probably took some getting used to, and hose-proofing your house.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What a time to be alive, especially for her

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Totally thought this was a double breast pump contraption from the pic

Man I thought I needed therapy for being quite a nasty thinker. Glad I'm not alone.

Reminds me of Doctor Who

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm drawing a blank.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Last few episodes of the latest season, if you haven't see them, spoilers.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Right, duh. Sorry, haven't re-watched those episodes since they aired.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just finished them and the Christmas special a couple days ago.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm excited to see how the new season goes.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can't even imagine the sense of freedom she has now. Congrats.

8 years ago | Likes 462 Dislikes 0

Yeah, freedom, great, but is it really the best design for the tubes to dangle at her side like that? Would prefer over-the-shoulder.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

And for some lucky guy out there the chance to fuck a cyborg, tubes and all.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

About as much freedom as the average American citizen

Crime in England is destroying that country.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 21

You clearly don't live in England.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

I always thought crime was a good thing /s

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

haha that's a joke right? m8 our fucking leaders want to spend £120 million on a fucking yacht whilst we have people starving to death

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Speaking from England, no it isn't you chuffing twonk. It's been falling good overall over the past few years. If anything is affecting it 1

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's the slashing of the police budget so the government can pay for Brexit. Which is a policy almost as idiotic as your comment.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"falling good overall?" Silly autocorrect.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That was my first thought. Some fuck is going to rip that fake heart right out of her after he knocks her unconscious.

8 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

England is less dangerous than you assume...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I imagine it depends on the part of england, but as a whole its made to seem more dangerous than it is, as a whole. so i agree with you.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm no fan of vigilante justice but I think we could make an exception for that fucker.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

I bet they would get charged with some form of murder.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

involuntary manslaughter i would think

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nope. Someone had a diabetic crisis because a mugger took her purse. Police took a statement and fucked off, "it's just a property crime"

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

90 seconds? I'd be too terrified to ever leave the house. Fuck, one bad pick pocket away from death.

8 years ago | Likes 341 Dislikes 3

I know, right?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Yup. I'd be terrified but the chance of going for a walk and getting some fresh air would probably over take that fear... probably

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

In the article her husband is shown carrying a backup unit

8 years ago | Likes 136 Dislikes 0

And if they both get pick pocketed?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Do you mean "mugged"?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i imagine the average pick pocket isnt stealing from someone with tubes connected to them through the bag. its fairly obvious

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Idk man. It's worth a lot of money.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Still a while lot of pressure. I want to put her in bubble wrap and keep her safe.

8 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 0

Eh less bubble wrap and more power armor with the back pack built in.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0
