Hey man, when I was a tech 14 years ago, I accidentally failed all traffic with 500 customers on it. Technology is grand.

Repeat after me: it was necessary to patch critical zero day vulnerability that is used by ransomware strain Petya VX.

I was trying too reassign a ticket and accidentally spammed the entire IT division at my company. For 6 month I got emails related to it.
CrazyZonie
What software you were using that let's you spam a company when reassigning a ticket?

I've accidentally kicked off Office upgrade during the middle of the day. It had went out to 700 PCs by the time I stopped it.

Oops covers that usually.

Maybe dozens

Deleted entire schools database at Henley high back in 2009. Back when command prompt was op
My brother got suspended because he cracked his HS's network to play games with his friends. (I think it was either Doom or Quake.)
CKOD
Kid in our computers/networking class in high school got sent to the office when he did a NET SEND to an entire IP Range on the lan
IP range wasnt just the school, but the whole county public school system.
Wow thats some prime cmd skills
@Op, one time, I took down all the terminals at a major local hospital trying to remotely reset a printer. VTAM is so much fun.
cheeseguy3412
A co-worker of mine once tried to send me the message "What up, bitch?", ended up going to every PC on our university campus.
That's actually fairly common. And then there are the people who don't know when NOT TO use reply all. Service Desk can be fun those days.
Kind of, this wasn't Email, this was "Net Send" So it sent to every PC as a pop up window with that as an error message. :D
Net Send isn't good for interpersonal communications. It's best as an admin tool for alerts and stuff, so yeah... :(
JagdPanzer38T
My dad write a code that'd email him whenever an error occurred... but there was an error in the code to send emails..

Oh that is choice
The secret to getting out of trouble that way is to bust your butt reactivating the terminal environment and then lots of sending emails.
We've had our server for our chart program go completely down. So no summaries/results available. I think it lasted a day 1/2
I wouldn't have wanted to see what happened to who was responsible 2/2
Downtime was about 15 minutes. The difference between inactivating a printer and the entire region is adding/omitting the printer name.
IUsedToBeTheWalrus
That seems bad.
It was mostly used for patient registration back then, so not much harm. Just mostly embarrassment. (1/2)
And the following weekend, my counterpart did the same to the other hospitals in the system. (3 at the time.) (2/2)
