I get the impression that Israeli sentiment towards Palestinians is pretty bleak, when Israelis have wealth and Palestinians live meagre existences by comparison. The rich squash the poor.

they starved and beat him.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 9

That's torture, if anyone hasn't seen it before. Three months to go from regular dude to cross-eyed 100 lbs. PTSD skeleton.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 8

I can only imagine the horrors he has been through considering the staggering difference visible for 'only' 3 months. You would think it was longer considering how traumatized and thin he is now. Absolutely barbaric stuff from Israel.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Ya the Israelites became what twisted them.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He should have thought of that before he was born the ethnicity that they want to cleanse from the area. /s

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 6

This dude had cancer before they detained him, which might explain why he looks to be in such bad shape. But I imagine none of that context will be shared by the folks passing this image around, it will just be assumed (as I can see in the posts here) that he was tortured into this state. Or the goalposts will be moved to "but they caused the cancer" or something. Oh wait, seeing some of that already too...

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I just can't understand how the Israelis of all people could perpetrate such murderous cruelty and oppression to a minority group. It's unfathomable.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Having been exposed to such heinous behavior, it's easy to Stockholm over to the other side and apply it to yr enemies.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Looks like a concentration camp survivor.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 6

In actuality, it looks like someone dying of advanced stomach cancer, which he was diagnosed with at a hospital in Ramallah prior to being incarcerated. OP is lying by omission.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The irony of an Israeli prisoner looking like a WWII concentration camp prisoner is very tragic. Israelis deserve better than their government and its war crimes. If I lived in Palestine and this was happening to my friends and family, I wouldn’t be surprised if people around me were supporting Hamas for saying they’d wipe out the enemy regime. (I’d still tell them to kick rocks for their actual antisemitism, but not for the political goal of liberating oppressed Palestinians.)

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 6

SO MANY of the Palestinian prisoners that have been released so far from Israeli jails have been fucking TEENAGERS.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Not to take away from the pain, but it might be crucial context that Fanouq Katheeb had cancer even before the israeli detainment see the very source used in the second picture: https://www.instagram.com/eye.on.palestine/reel/C1GjX8DKf3R/ Editing out important context like that doesn't help when we have to point out actual attrocities..

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 4

And this gets buried deep in the comments, after all the upvotes on how Israel “clearly” are monsters who tortured this guy into this state. Sigh.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 6

But they treated him for the cancer, right?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

You'd think being the most persecuted religion in history would humble them. Seems like it allowed them to play the victim even when they are the aggressor

2 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 8

The State of Israel was literally founded on settler colonialism, war crimes and ethnic cleansing with the justification for its existence being a 2 millennia old biblical myth and the very same outdated racial theories that have been used to persecute against Jews. The Bibi and Likud lead far right regime has upped the ante since the 2010s, but Israel has been oppressive towards Palestinians for almost 80 years and have always hid behind religion and US support to play the victim card.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 6

The state of Israel was founded by the UN when the UK gave up the Mandate. Israel were initially given 54% of the land of Palestine, and the deal was to give the remaining 46% to a new Muslim-led state of Palestine. The Muslim neighbours of Israel declined this, refused to acknowledge Israel as a state, and declared war on them instead. Israel won that war and took over half the land the Arab states declined. I 100% agree with your calling it ridiculous myths, though - on both sides.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

The state of Israel was founded on Jewish terrorism aimed at both the Palestinians and the British (and even the UN): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zionist_political_violence while the Deir Yassan massacre (horrific then too) by the Jewish terrorists is what precipitated the Arab-Israeli war in 1948: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deir_Yassin_massacre#Exodus_and_invasion

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

I think I understand what you're trying to say - that Zionist terrorists existed both before and after Israel's formation - but the way you're wording it is weird, or maybe I'm just not understanding you right? The state of Israel was the result of the UN Resolution 181 in 1947, where the land was distributed as I explained above. Current president of the PA (the government in Gaza) has even said that refusing the 1947 UN plan was a mistake: https://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE79R644/

For him to be that skinny after just 3 months, they must not have fed him at all

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 5

that's certainly possible, it's also possible he chose a hunger strike for some reason. I'm really trying not to jump to conclusions when I see anything out of this area

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

A few outlets have reported it but they're all using social media reference right now. Specifics are unknown and there's a lot of misinformation at the moment (some claiming he was beaten, others that he was diagnosed with cancer, etc etc all without providing sources)

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I am sure the place he was detained is probably horrible, but I am also very aware that Hamas creates a lot of propaganda. Everyone does, but Hamas has really been pushing it because it is how they can receive more financial support and aid that that they inevitably redirect away from people truly in need. I know Israel is farrrrr from perfect, but Hamas is also Hamas. People should always be wary of things posted with out a source.

IMO once Israel has succeeded in eradicating Palestine, neighbouring countries should definitely consider themselves to be Israel's next target, simply because if your people has gotten away with genocide and stealing peoples' land, why stop at Palestine?

Nah, the surrounding countries hate the Palestinians just as much as Israel does. Notice they're doing precisely nothing besides weak-ass protestations. Why hasn't Egypt opened their border with Gaza?

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 8

Because their corrupt leaders are in bed with Israeli trade

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Well then…why aren't the people of said countries loudly protesting to rescue their downtown Arab brethren? It's not like the citizens of Egypt won't turn out in the streets if it suits them…

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

...they are though lol where have you been? The streets of Jordan, Yemen, Pakistan, etc are filled with protests regularly.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

because "arabs" is a generalization like "westerners" and the countries have nothing to do with each other if you look beyond your own preconceptions

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I have no preconceptions; I'm very well aware that nobody in the Middle East, politicians or citizens, cares about Gazans or wants to live with them. I'm trying to make that point — borders are closed not because of government corruption or conspiracies, but merely to keep the Palestinians out.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Make no mistake, the goal of the Israeli government is the total eradication of the Palestinian people. This a fucking genocide; they are not going to stop until there is not a living soul left who can lay claim to a single grain of sand in their "promised land".

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

ok. what race/ethnicity are you?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Oh never mind, @Kligan lives in Russia, based off of previous comments. It's hilarious that you think you get to say that when your country's doing what it's doing. Of course a member of a society trying to commit genocide is in favor of committing genocide. Because that's how you're saying it works, right? Each and every individual in a society is personally responsible for every action committed by their country? Or are you a gutless worm who can't live by the standards he imposes?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Yeah, I personally went and invaded Ukraine, you're right. And before that I called putler and told him to start the invasion ;)

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Yeah, every single person in Palestine personally went and killed innocent Israelis, you're right. And before that every single person called Hamas and told them to start the invasion and so the entire population deserves to be eradicated ;)

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a side note - you went into my profile, found a single word to support your personal bias and to feel good about yourself :) Whereas if you actually read my comments you would see that never once I expressed any form of support toward invasion of ukrain. and in fact openly opposed it. Also, I have close friends living in Be'er Sheva in Israel who were bombed by hamas repeatedly again and again even before the war broke out, having to hide in bomb shelters until alarms stop.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

As a side note - you literally cheered for the genocide of an entire people. You completely missed my point. In fact, the fact that you're insisting you're one of the GOOD ones among the Russians solidifies my point that you're holding a double standard; to you, clearly, not all Russians are evil, but at the same time, all Palestinians are evil and deserve to die.

It feels weird to use that phrase when the perpetrators pre-turning-of-tables and a victims post-turning-of-tables are two completely different unrelated groups.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh you mean the jews. The jews that were saved. That have no idea

2 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 6

Probably a majority but don't forget the other groups the Nazis were monstrous to.

2 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 2

Jews were actually the minority. From the 20+ million industrially slaughtered, the 6 million jews were "just" the largest group.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 4

"20+ million industrially slaughtered"
I think you should *first* do your homework and then hold a lecture.
Vernichtungslager =\= Konzentrationslager
From the many ways the Nazis killed, concentration camps were just one. Industrial slaughter was just the most infamous way they killed people. Of those industrially slaughtered, the vast majority were jews.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Where did you get 20m+ from? The current best "official" estimates have the numbers at a bit over 12 million victims (discounting soldiers): 6m Jewish people, 3.3m civilian Soviet POW, 1.8m polish citizens, ~500k Romani, and a litany of others. About 70% of the total european jewish population was wiped out by the nazis, a higher percentage than any other group targeted by the nazis.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It greatly depends on who you ask and if you consider mass executions or death through forced labour part of it. Some even include germans killed through the hands of the nazi regime. Statista e.g. counts 17 million.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I don't believe anything posted on social media regarding that conflict without additional sources. For all I know this could be a cancer patient in Morocco who never set a foot into Israel.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Here's the problem. Israel limits all outside press in Gaza to only those embedded with IDF and kills all those in Gaza (nearly 70 confirmed so far + often their families) so it's hard to get results in English (exactly how Israel wants it) and hard to search other languages if you don't know them: https://cpj.org/2023/12/journalis">onflict/">https://cpj.org/2023/12/journalist-casualties-in-the-israel-gaza-conflict/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coOptDiwyrU

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Than you haven't seen the videos coming out of gaza

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

It's good to fact check things you find on social media, because this whole thing is a propaganda war with a lot of fake information and appeals to emotion. That being said, the information of the Israeli treatment of Palestinians both in this conflict, previous conflicts, and in the decades surrounding it has been well documented by human rights workers and UN observers and is freely available.

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 4

However it is the Israeli side that has been caught red handed multiple times with blatant lies and fabrications (ie 40 beheaded babies)

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 96

Uh, who’s been conducting an arial bombing campaign for the past 10 weeks, killing close to 20,000 people, with 17 billion dollars in funding from the US government, and displacing people from their homes?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So they’re both the oppressors then, Israel being the oppressor in this specific instance.

2 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 0

It really sounds like you're trying to justify this guys treatment with 'both sides bad' rather than looking at these pictures and going 'this is an atrocity that never should have happened and those who did it should be held accountable'. Guess what, it's possible to hold *everyone* who commits war crimes accountable, rather than giving them a free pass because 'both sides bad'.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

No one should get a free pass. Wtf, they both cause horror and pain.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

It's the "It's never happened to me, so why should I care" vs the "This should never happen to anyone, that's why I care" mentality.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I think he is saying that both sides has elements commiting atrocities. All Israelis aren't their military and all Palestinians aren't Hamas militants shooting children.

The big problem here is both sides has ppl with a vested interest in continuing this. If Israel pulls back then Hamas will eventually strike again. If Hamas pulls back israel will hunt and kill as many of them as possible hitting civilian casualties.

The mutual hate assures us both will not stop hostilities indefinitely.

Exactly. Bibi is using every ounce of Holocaust sympathy to excuse Israel for atrocities. I've heard a rabbi loudly denouncing this and saying it tarnishes his faith to have the Israeli gov't connected to Judaism.

I think the point is that most people aren't going to do that. You and I realize there's a difference, but we're far from representative of the majority of people.

Absolutely. I don't want to be on the hook for the evil shit my government does, so there's no reason for me not to give the same courtesy to the average Israeli citizen

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 2

The main problem is that Israel's government is the one who is not separating those two things. Any criticism of Israel has been depicted as an attack on all Jews by this government because their policy equates the zionist settler colonialism of Israel to the very core of being Jewish. They do this on purpose, both for ideological reasons and to be able to hide behind religion for its human rights abuses.

But that's also the point. Netanyahu doesn't want you to separate the two.

Some Jewish people. Not all oppose what is happening in Gaza, many fully support what’s happening.

Semitic doesn't mean "just Jewish people." It's a linguistic grouping. Arabs are Semitic. Phoenician was Semitic. The Carthaginian Empire was Semitic.

As a racial term, the people who came up with it were the same ones who pushed "the Caucasian people" as an idea. It's one of those 19th Century things.

And, importantly, Arabic is semitic.

"The Harvard CAPS-Harris poll found that two-thirds of voters between the ages of 18 and 24 believe Jews as a class are oppressors and should be treated that way." https://www.yahoo.com/news/wide-generational-gap-persists-views-222741791.html And yes, the question was explicitly "Jews", see page 57: https://harvardharrispoll.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/HHP_Dec23_KeyResults.pdf

Did you not see the presidents of MIT, Harvard and Penn dodge the question of whether, quote, "calling for the genocide of Jews is against rules or code of conduct?" It should have been a super fucking easy yes, but they all just refused to answer...

Hell, I've seen antisemitic Hamas supporters claiming that the backlash, particularly the Penn president's much-deserved ousting, is proof that the Evil Jews Control The World. The psyops here are devastatingly effective and I fear it's all going to end very, very badly

It's so fucking insane to me how we just came out so good against QAnon lunatics, against Covid conspiracy lunatics, against an insane Russian psyops campaign, and are then just hopping head-first into the pool of Iranian propaganda. I just don't understand how they managed to do this.

It's not Iranian, it's most likely Russian as well — peel.off enough useful idiots with the "genocide Joe" malarkey for TFG (or any R, if he gets nuked out) to win. And I'm not even particularly supportive of Israel at the moment.
