In actuality, it looks like someone dying of advanced stomach cancer, which he was diagnosed with at a hospital in Ramallah prior to being incarcerated. OP is lying by omission.
The irony of an Israeli prisoner looking like a WWII concentration camp prisoner is very tragic. Israelis deserve better than their government and its war crimes. If I lived in Palestine and this was happening to my friends and family, I wouldn’t be surprised if people around me were supporting Hamas for saying they’d wipe out the enemy regime. (I’d still tell them to kick rocks for their actual antisemitism, but not for the political goal of liberating oppressed Palestinians.)
Not to take away from the pain, but it might be crucial context that Fanouq Katheeb had cancer even before the israeli detainment see the very source used in the second picture: https://www.instagram.com/eye.on.palestine/reel/C1GjX8DKf3R/ Editing out important context like that doesn't help when we have to point out actual attrocities..
You'd think being the most persecuted religion in history would humble them. Seems like it allowed them to play the victim even when they are the aggressor
The State of Israel was literally founded on settler colonialism, war crimes and ethnic cleansing with the justification for its existence being a 2 millennia old biblical myth and the very same outdated racial theories that have been used to persecute against Jews. The Bibi and Likud lead far right regime has upped the ante since the 2010s, but Israel has been oppressive towards Palestinians for almost 80 years and have always hid behind religion and US support to play the victim card.
The state of Israel was founded by the UN when the UK gave up the Mandate. Israel were initially given 54% of the land of Palestine, and the deal was to give the remaining 46% to a new Muslim-led state of Palestine. The Muslim neighbours of Israel declined this, refused to acknowledge Israel as a state, and declared war on them instead. Israel won that war and took over half the land the Arab states declined. I 100% agree with your calling it ridiculous myths, though - on both sides.
The state of Israel was founded on Jewish terrorism aimed at both the Palestinians and the British (and even the UN): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zionist_political_violence while the Deir Yassan massacre (horrific then too) by the Jewish terrorists is what precipitated the Arab-Israeli war in 1948: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deir_Yassin_massacre#Exodus_and_invasion
I think I understand what you're trying to say - that Zionist terrorists existed both before and after Israel's formation - but the way you're wording it is weird, or maybe I'm just not understanding you right? The state of Israel was the result of the UN Resolution 181 in 1947, where the land was distributed as I explained above. Current president of the PA (the government in Gaza) has even said that refusing the 1947 UN plan was a mistake: https://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE79R644/
that's certainly possible, it's also possible he chose a hunger strike for some reason. I'm really trying not to jump to conclusions when I see anything out of this area
A few outlets have reported it but they're all using social media reference right now. Specifics are unknown and there's a lot of misinformation at the moment (some claiming he was beaten, others that he was diagnosed with cancer, etc etc all without providing sources)
I am sure the place he was detained is probably horrible, but I am also very aware that Hamas creates a lot of propaganda. Everyone does, but Hamas has really been pushing it because it is how they can receive more financial support and aid that that they inevitably redirect away from people truly in need. I know Israel is farrrrr from perfect, but Hamas is also Hamas. People should always be wary of things posted with out a source.
I feel that it would have been better if he didn't. That's not to say that I wish him I'll but my nana survived Auschwitz and wished she died every living day after that. She lived to 96. Such a hard life.
IMO once Israel has succeeded in eradicating Palestine, neighbouring countries should definitely consider themselves to be Israel's next target, simply because if your people has gotten away with genocide and stealing peoples' land, why stop at Palestine?
Nah, the surrounding countries hate the Palestinians just as much as Israel does. Notice they're doing precisely nothing besides weak-ass protestations. Why hasn't Egypt opened their border with Gaza?
Well then…why aren't the people of said countries loudly protesting to rescue their downtown Arab brethren? It's not like the citizens of Egypt won't turn out in the streets if it suits them…
I have no preconceptions; I'm very well aware that nobody in the Middle East, politicians or citizens, cares about Gazans or wants to live with them. I'm trying to make that point — borders are closed not because of government corruption or conspiracies, but merely to keep the Palestinians out.
Make no mistake, the goal of the Israeli government is the total eradication of the Palestinian people. This a fucking genocide; they are not going to stop until there is not a living soul left who can lay claim to a single grain of sand in their "promised land".
Might want to be careful making generalisations like that considering I have seen plenty of Israel people celebrating the murder of Palestine children recently.
Oh never mind, @Kligan lives in Russia, based off of previous comments. It's hilarious that you think you get to say that when your country's doing what it's doing. Of course a member of a society trying to commit genocide is in favor of committing genocide. Because that's how you're saying it works, right? Each and every individual in a society is personally responsible for every action committed by their country? Or are you a gutless worm who can't live by the standards he imposes?
Yeah, every single person in Palestine personally went and killed innocent Israelis, you're right. And before that every single person called Hamas and told them to start the invasion and so the entire population deserves to be eradicated ;)
As a side note - you went into my profile, found a single word to support your personal bias and to feel good about yourself :) Whereas if you actually read my comments you would see that never once I expressed any form of support toward invasion of ukrain. and in fact openly opposed it. Also, I have close friends living in Be'er Sheva in Israel who were bombed by hamas repeatedly again and again even before the war broke out, having to hide in bomb shelters until alarms stop.
As a side note - you literally cheered for the genocide of an entire people. You completely missed my point. In fact, the fact that you're insisting you're one of the GOOD ones among the Russians solidifies my point that you're holding a double standard; to you, clearly, not all Russians are evil, but at the same time, all Palestinians are evil and deserve to die.
It feels weird to use that phrase when the perpetrators pre-turning-of-tables and a victims post-turning-of-tables are two completely different unrelated groups.
"20+ million industrially slaughtered" I think you should *first* do your homework and then hold a lecture. Vernichtungslager =\= Konzentrationslager From the many ways the Nazis killed, concentration camps were just one. Industrial slaughter was just the most infamous way they killed people. Of those industrially slaughtered, the vast majority were jews.
Where did you get 20m+ from? The current best "official" estimates have the numbers at a bit over 12 million victims (discounting soldiers): 6m Jewish people, 3.3m civilian Soviet POW, 1.8m polish citizens, ~500k Romani, and a litany of others. About 70% of the total european jewish population was wiped out by the nazis, a higher percentage than any other group targeted by the nazis.
It greatly depends on who you ask and if you consider mass executions or death through forced labour part of it. Some even include germans killed through the hands of the nazi regime. Statista e.g. counts 17 million.
I don't believe anything posted on social media regarding that conflict without additional sources. For all I know this could be a cancer patient in Morocco who never set a foot into Israel.

He actually does have advanced stomach cancer (prior to being incarcerated) crucial information missing from OP - to the point that I would say it counts as a lie by omission.
It's good to fact check things you find on social media, because this whole thing is a propaganda war with a lot of fake information and appeals to emotion. That being said, the information of the Israeli treatment of Palestinians both in this conflict, previous conflicts, and in the decades surrounding it has been well documented by human rights workers and UN observers and is freely available.
Yes... But that doesn’t stop propaganda. Trying to make the other side seem worse. I can see what fact checking news agencies put out and still see that what's going on is in no way ok. That war crimes are being commited on the regular.
That's totally not what I meant. I meant both sides suffer and the Isreali government and hamas are at fault, NOT innocent people wanting to live their lives.
Uh, who’s been conducting an arial bombing campaign for the past 10 weeks, killing close to 20,000 people, with 17 billion dollars in funding from the US government, and displacing people from their homes?
It really sounds like you're trying to justify this guys treatment with 'both sides bad' rather than looking at these pictures and going 'this is an atrocity that never should have happened and those who did it should be held accountable'. Guess what, it's possible to hold *everyone* who commits war crimes accountable, rather than giving them a free pass because 'both sides bad'.
I think he is saying that both sides has elements commiting atrocities. All Israelis aren't their military and all Palestinians aren't Hamas militants shooting children.
The big problem here is both sides has ppl with a vested interest in continuing this. If Israel pulls back then Hamas will eventually strike again. If Hamas pulls back israel will hunt and kill as many of them as possible hitting civilian casualties.
The mutual hate assures us both will not stop hostilities indefinitely.
short answers: yes. Slightly longer answer: The only way he can stay in power is thou fear and hate. So for Netanyahu personally this "war" has no downsides. Civilians will die, but that's a sacrifice both he and Hamas are willing to make.
Exactly. Bibi is using every ounce of Holocaust sympathy to excuse Israel for atrocities. I've heard a rabbi loudly denouncing this and saying it tarnishes his faith to have the Israeli gov't connected to Judaism.
Crimes against humanity is so ingrained into Israel's persona now, that if you criticize crimes against humanity they'll say you're criticizing Israel.
Conflation is the goal here. Conflate Palestinians with Hamas/ Hezbollah and conflate Jews with IDF/ Netanyahu. These are not interchangeable terms yet many want them to be.
I think he wants to guarantee enemies so he can look like a hero or something. He considers himself "Israel's Protector" or something and has to have someone to protect Israel against.
Indicted for corruption, and removed court checks on executive branch function. Born in Israel; spent high school yrs near Philly; attended MIT. Makes a big deal of being personal friend of #45 since the 80s, which explains his recent political actions.
I think the point is that most people aren't going to do that. You and I realize there's a difference, but we're far from representative of the majority of people.
Absolutely. I don't want to be on the hook for the evil shit my government does, so there's no reason for me not to give the same courtesy to the average Israeli citizen
The main problem is that Israel's government is the one who is not separating those two things. Any criticism of Israel has been depicted as an attack on all Jews by this government because their policy equates the zionist settler colonialism of Israel to the very core of being Jewish. They do this on purpose, both for ideological reasons and to be able to hide behind religion for its human rights abuses.
As a racial term, the people who came up with it were the same ones who pushed "the Caucasian people" as an idea. It's one of those 19th Century things.
Did you not see the presidents of MIT, Harvard and Penn dodge the question of whether, quote, "calling for the genocide of Jews is against rules or code of conduct?" It should have been a super fucking easy yes, but they all just refused to answer...
Hell, I've seen antisemitic Hamas supporters claiming that the backlash, particularly the Penn president's much-deserved ousting, is proof that the Evil Jews Control The World. The psyops here are devastatingly effective and I fear it's all going to end very, very badly
It's so fucking insane to me how we just came out so good against QAnon lunatics, against Covid conspiracy lunatics, against an insane Russian psyops campaign, and are then just hopping head-first into the pool of Iranian propaganda. I just don't understand how they managed to do this.
It's not Iranian, it's most likely Russian as well — peel.off enough useful idiots with the "genocide Joe" malarkey for TFG (or any R, if he gets nuked out) to win. And I'm not even particularly supportive of Israel at the moment.

MostAwkwardPenguinInNYC
However it is the Israeli side that has been caught red handed multiple times with blatant lies and fabrications (ie 40 beheaded babies)
delecti
Al Jazeera is reporting the same thing, though using a slightly different westernization of his name. This reports his release with the name "Farouk al-Khatib" https://www.aljazeera.com/amp/news/2023/12/21/israel-hamas-war-list-of-key-events-day-76
RodentOfAverageSize
No pics in that link. Not saying they are fake, just saying the pics are not in that link
alaest0r
All the media sources ive seen have been using social media references. Maybe try tineye
WeekendWarriorMark
Googling the name gives an article stating that «Soroka Hospital where he was released after being diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer.»

Link...
Semphir
Yes. Lot of propaganda from both sides
MostAwkwardPenguinInNYC
Nope, there's no "both sides" when one sided is clearly committing a genocide.
Semphir
There is clearly propaganda coming from both sides. It's how things work nowdays.
MostAwkwardPenguinInNYC
Check out @motaz_azaiza on IG. No propaganda is needed to see the truth of the horror that is unfolding. All you need is a shred of humanity.
Semphir
Yes... But that doesn’t stop propaganda. Trying to make the other side seem worse. I can see what fact checking news agencies put out and still see that what's going on is in no way ok. That war crimes are being commited on the regular.
therealbardman
This is shameful, israel has lived behind the shield of the oppressed too long.
MrNardtastic
You either die a hero or.....
RandyHorton
Bomb the west bank?
METROlD
Israel fucking sucks. The leadership in that country needs a reality check.
barishta
Israel was created/formed in 1948
IAlwaysEatGlue
And?
DocWino
You mean the shield of the US.
plutonium
Did they stutter?
TRefgrite
Are you saying the us is the oppressed? Not sure what you mean
MondKind
Jep, that specific detail is pretty important.
anyway188136
He was in an Isreali jail tho. Not the oppressors.
MechKelly
You managed to contradict yourself in those two short sentences. How are you that dense? Unless you're a troll?
TheOnlyPtylerdactyl
I've got terrible news for you
Ughffs
They have been since the end of world War two. Maybe read up on it before shooting your mouth off like an ignorant fuck.
PlanckEraWasMyBestEra
Imagine looking at these pics and thinking "Ah, clearly he was detained by the good guys".
anyway188136
That's totally not what I meant. I meant both sides suffer and the Isreali government and hamas are at fault, NOT innocent people wanting to live their lives.
Ionico
Go look at the pictures again.
Kamchatkah
Who are the oppressors in your mind?
rockhydra
Politics cosplaying as religion.
anyway188136
That's what I mean. On both sides.
anyway188136
None! They are both wrong in dragging innocent people in and displaying it worldwide as if both of them are the victims.
Violaquin
Uh, who’s been conducting an arial bombing campaign for the past 10 weeks, killing close to 20,000 people, with 17 billion dollars in funding from the US government, and displacing people from their homes?
GenesisNynja
So they’re both the oppressors then, Israel being the oppressor in this specific instance.
PlanckEraWasMyBestEra
It really sounds like you're trying to justify this guys treatment with 'both sides bad' rather than looking at these pictures and going 'this is an atrocity that never should have happened and those who did it should be held accountable'. Guess what, it's possible to hold *everyone* who commits war crimes accountable, rather than giving them a free pass because 'both sides bad'.
anyway188136
No one should get a free pass. Wtf, they both cause horror and pain.
blubberingbastard
It's the "It's never happened to me, so why should I care" vs the "This should never happen to anyone, that's why I care" mentality.
Kabba
I think he is saying that both sides has elements commiting atrocities. All Israelis aren't their military and all Palestinians aren't Hamas militants shooting children.
The big problem here is both sides has ppl with a vested interest in continuing this. If Israel pulls back then Hamas will eventually strike again. If Hamas pulls back israel will hunt and kill as many of them as possible hitting civilian casualties.
The mutual hate assures us both will not stop hostilities indefinitely.
SwissScars
Is Netanyahu trying to make the world antisemitic?
[deleted]
[deleted]
Picdump2508
Probably. Let's him justify his evil.
CambreathdTheSecound
short answers: yes. Slightly longer answer: The only way he can stay in power is thou fear and hate. So for Netanyahu personally this "war" has no downsides. Civilians will die, but that's a sacrifice both he and Hamas are willing to make.
TrilithonStone
Is there even a usage... Anti-Zionist...?
ImmaCatImmaSexyCat
Don’t play into that. Hate the politics, hate the methods, hate the people perpetuating it, but never start blaming the ethnicity for it.
Thornaxe
That’s what’ll happen unfortunately. And the Jews thatll die eventually will be the ones furthest from the crimes.
donorkort
Absolutely insane comment to make. Congratulations, you're helping them.
KoalaOnTheJuice
In a word, yes. Antisemitism and violent Palestinian anger provides him with justification for further conquest and ethnic cleansing.
KleptoKea
Do not confuse the Israeli government or even Israel with the Jews of the world.
Ardback
...because this IS THE WAY to turn the world antisemitic...
Varnna
An ass is still an ass regardless of race, creed, or species.
reineseele
He got some ideas from nazi germany i think, which is a weird flex he tries to do. Like "we do it even better..."
Nivvi
Netanyahu read a book about WW2 and thought he can do better than hitler
CoachMcgurl
SHITLER!
Serkus
They want Israel and Jew to be interchangeable, so criticism of Israel is criticism of Jews and therefore anti-Semitic. Don't fall for it.
StarscreamAndHutch
They’ve got that already. These most recent events are unraveling their cloak.
Nivvi
It even more fucked, ha wants to make Zionism equate to Semitism and Israel
Ninjainslippers
Exactly. Bibi is using every ounce of Holocaust sympathy to excuse Israel for atrocities. I've heard a rabbi loudly denouncing this and saying it tarnishes his faith to have the Israeli gov't connected to Judaism.
BronyDanza
This has been AZCPA / AIPAC's goal since the mid-1950s.
Jackpot7777777
Crimes against humanity is so ingrained into Israel's persona now, that if you criticize crimes against humanity they'll say you're criticizing Israel.
MosquitoHawker
Conflation is the goal here. Conflate Palestinians with Hamas/ Hezbollah and conflate Jews with IDF/ Netanyahu. These are not interchangeable terms yet many want them to be.
CoachMcgurl
I think he wants to guarantee enemies so he can look like a hero or something. He considers himself "Israel's Protector" or something and has to have someone to protect Israel against.
TheOnlyPtylerdactyl
He's a right-wing bully, same as any other. He wants power and the prestige that comes from impressing a room of other bloodthirsty tyrants
PennsylvaniaPalindrome
Indicted for corruption, and removed court checks on executive branch function. Born in Israel; spent high school yrs near Philly; attended MIT. Makes a big deal of being personal friend of #45 since the 80s, which explains his recent political actions.
Howmuchistoomuchspam
Point taken but let’s separate Jewish people and the Israeli government please
Picdump2508
I think the point is that most people aren't going to do that. You and I realize there's a difference, but we're far from representative of the majority of people.
TheOnlyPtylerdactyl
Absolutely. I don't want to be on the hook for the evil shit my government does, so there's no reason for me not to give the same courtesy to the average Israeli citizen
Wastyvez
The main problem is that Israel's government is the one who is not separating those two things. Any criticism of Israel has been depicted as an attack on all Jews by this government because their policy equates the zionist settler colonialism of Israel to the very core of being Jewish. They do this on purpose, both for ideological reasons and to be able to hide behind religion for its human rights abuses.
mrthewhitee
But that's also the point. Netanyahu doesn't want you to separate the two.
DarkRedCape
Some Jewish people. Not all oppose what is happening in Gaza, many fully support what’s happening.
Sitting101
Many support trump
acuteavocado7
and they get ripped for it every single day, whats your point
StewedTomaters
Semitic doesn't mean "just Jewish people." It's a linguistic grouping. Arabs are Semitic. Phoenician was Semitic. The Carthaginian Empire was Semitic.
StewedTomaters
As a racial term, the people who came up with it were the same ones who pushed "the Caucasian people" as an idea. It's one of those 19th Century things.
nopo
And, importantly, Arabic is semitic.
PballQhead
"The Harvard CAPS-Harris poll found that two-thirds of voters between the ages of 18 and 24 believe Jews as a class are oppressors and should be treated that way." https://www.yahoo.com/news/wide-generational-gap-persists-views-222741791.html And yes, the question was explicitly "Jews", see page 57: https://harvardharrispoll.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/HHP_Dec23_KeyResults.pdf
donorkort
Did you not see the presidents of MIT, Harvard and Penn dodge the question of whether, quote, "calling for the genocide of Jews is against rules or code of conduct?" It should have been a super fucking easy yes, but they all just refused to answer...
OozyRatInASanitaryZoo
https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/dec/11/the-harvard-and-upenn-presidents-walked-into-a-trap-in-congress
PballQhead
Hell, I've seen antisemitic Hamas supporters claiming that the backlash, particularly the Penn president's much-deserved ousting, is proof that the Evil Jews Control The World. The psyops here are devastatingly effective and I fear it's all going to end very, very badly
donorkort
It's so fucking insane to me how we just came out so good against QAnon lunatics, against Covid conspiracy lunatics, against an insane Russian psyops campaign, and are then just hopping head-first into the pool of Iranian propaganda. I just don't understand how they managed to do this.
PballQhead
It's not Iranian, it's most likely Russian as well — peel.off enough useful idiots with the "genocide Joe" malarkey for TFG (or any R, if he gets nuked out) to win. And I'm not even particularly supportive of Israel at the moment.
