Holding tight for their life. Try brining in a waterproof toy. Something to chew on for stress. You should take the collar off or have one just for baths.
Also, make a big fuss of them and pay extra attention to them afterwards so they associate bathtime with extra love and praise. Our last dog never put up a fight about baths because she knew she'd get lots of snuggles and extra treats afterwards.
I have some advice for you, get some therapy. If every time you received advice from parents, family, friends and co-workers throughout your life, you felt they thought you were wrong, then there is a lot to unpack.
