Where the Hell, did the idea come from that only America has a long history of White Supremacy? Must be Americans who think the world ends at our borders?? Or, any significant history. The real irony is the meme's narrator has a British Empire accent.
As a black American who's traveled extensively I'm so f'ing tired of this shit. If you want to experience overt racism today try South America, anywhere. Try going to a nice hotel in Munich. Check out a soccer game in Italy or Spain and watch as black players have bananas hurled at them. Show me a non white mayor, CEO, PM (ok, UK has got this one) in Europe. Try being a woman and getting tenure at a major European university. Appreciate America you whiny b$tches!!
If you’re really that well traveled you know soccer is soccer. You do what ya gotta do to mess with the other team. Like 3 months after 9-11 during the Mexico/USA the Mexican hooligans were chanting Osama. Civility begins and ends on the stadium grounds, you can take that shit seriously!
Damn for a few hours people lose themselves totally and completely in sports. I simply pointed out that you can’t judge a people’s entire sociality on soccer hooligans and I get this reaction?
Sorry I got so mad, but throwing bananas at black players? That's some repugnant unacceptable shit. The vast majority of fans want to see that kind of behavior gone for good. Saying "oh well, soccer is soccer" (the world calls it football btw remember) is completely at odds with the changes most of us want to see in football in Europe, not to mention the shamelessness of responding so callously to the post above with that reply. I hope you just spoke without thinking this time.
Nope I’m that callous towards hooliganism. I just view it as performance art at this point. As long as zero blood is spilled that is. I do have a line. It’s just really far away. And yes I know the soccer/futball/football stuff. I just find it faster to say soccer that way everyone knows I’m American. I didn’t really catch the bug until I was in Lithuania during the 1998 Cup. You gotta be overseas during a World Cup to truly understand the passion and dare I say psychosis

Sounds Australian or New Zealand to me. Neither country has a glowing history in terms of racism. Its just easier to get those gratifying upvotes by shit talking the US here on Imgur. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/jun/08/exclusive-racism-homophobia-fuelling-thousands-of-crimes-in-new-zealand-each-year-figures-show

Appreciate America? Sorry, but for what exactly? It certainly held great potential but the way things are heading right now...? I dunno man.
