I meant from a homeowner's perspective.
Nobody owns those places. A lot of the abandoned homes you see used to be nice but people fled the city with the riots.
The city never really got rebuilt. They're working on it now though.

Also, checkout Van Dyke and 7 or 8 Mile. The neighborhoods in that area are pretty bad now. That's where my mom grew up. Scary.

Check out the old Model T factory on Manchester, just East of Woodward in Highland Park.
Follow Manchester East to Oakland, then take Oakland North past the commercial zone until you get to residences.
Fascinating at the corner of Candler and Oakland you see that someone decided to build brand new houses at one point.
