PsBattle: Cat eating grass
Edit: just wanted to add that I live in Australia where our native wildlife is hugely impacted by domestic and feral cats. I also live close by to both a highway and the back of my property leads off to a creek and a trail which can become overgrown and a hive for snakes in hotter months. My other cat is also deaf. I believe that keeping them indoors with supervised outside play is the most responsible thing to do to ensure they have the best, safest possible lives and also preventing them from killing wildlife. Hope that clears things up! Thanks :)
AngryBaboon
This is my grass. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

You mean he didn't try jetting off in thr opposite direction as soon as you opened the door?

Those teeth are clean as fuck, how old is it ?
brewmasterg
Probably about two and a half years old? He’s a rescue so we’re not exactly sure, but we’ve had him for about a year and a half now.
MiasmaCorrigan
I have a cat that's really skittish, but he enjoys the backyard on occasions. Hope your's is chipped JIC.
brewmasterg
He sure is!
Pyreflie21
What an adorable Derp
PreciousPotato
Ah.. the puke and frothy spit full of grass and hairs. :) I stopped getting my indoor cats grass and resort to malt paste and brushing.
OraMajere
@brewmasterg Is your cat named Gmork?? picture 2 and 3 ..![]()
brewmasterg
His name is Baker because his favorite thing to do is knead on you when he’s getting comfy :)
Maggiesperson
Rescued mine at 4 weeks, was cold, sick and starving. Now even at 17 years old he refuses to put even one paw outside the door.
EvilKam
"These things are amazing! I smell fresh air! What else have you been hiding from me human?" - Your cat, probably
chellelikebelle24
My cat never wanted outside til we got a dog. Now he’s realized & when the doors open he goes 3ft out the door and just sits in the grass.
EvilKam
"I like it here. This is nice." - Your cat
poot85
Did it just eat grass?
Aylasita
They do that to help with digestion and hairballs :) That's why if you have indoor only cats you should have a small grass thingy for them.

Aw she's so cute, love her cow print.

I never considered that but with her eating that grass maybe she is actually part cow :'D
Sianallama
Just so you know. You've now created a monster that will try to get outside constantly.
TheSeanShow
What? Like a normal cat you mean?
ReaLifeSmeagol
Not true. Every cat is different. My 3 won't go outside at all. They run back inside if taken out.
Sianallama
Ugh I wish. I let them feel grass once and now they always want out. =_=
brewmasterg
Oh he was like that before. He’s a rescue and we hypothesize he either was an outdoor cat or he spent lots of time roaming the streets 1/
brewmasterg
Because he tries to get out the door whenever you go to let the dog out/ come inside the house. Compromise is supervised outside play. 2/2
Sianallama
Yeah we do supervised play in the spring/summer/fall they have nooo interest in winter of course.
BeeDragon
Let my indoor cat out once, after that he was constantly yelling to go outside and trying to escape. The taste of freedom was too strong.
ReaLifeSmeagol
Neutered?
BeeDragon
Yes
tclothingw
Your cat is beautiful. Watch out for lots of throwing up after all that grass eating.
meganical
Brought my indoor cat outside; now she's afraid of birds. She likes taking 1 step outside house unless it's winter because fuck snow
EvilKam
My cat stared at the door after a snowstorm. I laughed and opend the door, knowing he would turn around. I learned he LOVES snow. Okay then.
mariomario42
#4 might be the best cat picture of all time, and I've seen a lot of cat pics
Dociousaliexpilisticfragicalirepus
Agreed. I needed that laugh today.

iguessthisusernamewilldo
I've taken my cat outside, but she doesn't love it. It's weird because she was a stray before the shelter (where we got her) picked her up.
MeridaIsMySpiritAnimal
My cat was the same way. She was born a stray and then was afraid of the outside and never wanted to leave the house
melshot
PTSD. She's seen some shit.
KalYahna
She's seen the scary stuff Outside, now she's happy to have the security and safety of Inside!
FiftyShadesOfBroccoli
Same with homeless people. Once they have a roof over their heads again, they hate sleeping under bridges.
ReaLifeSmeagol
Not really weird. Outdoor life isnt easy. She was probably bullied quite often, cold, matted.

Just be prepared to clean up hairballs
Hummingbirdbandit
Came here to say this - @OP, cats eat grass for indigestion to throw up. Be careful!
brewmasterg
Oh I’m always prepared with this one, he’s a walking hairball
LunaPolaris
Yup. When I see my cat eating grass you can set your clock by it. 15 minutes later she urks up the hairball.
yoshiien
Do they do the running hairball
ummjakefromstatefarm

The grass helps them get rid of hairballs.
thatwoodguy
You get them stuff called "Kitty Malt"
ImCherokeeJack
Yeah, I was just thinking there was going to be a lot of slimy grass all over this persons carpet and rugs.
ohhelllllooothere
aw shoot thats good shit - i was wondering why mine did that too!
Islandace
Would a cat know that if they've always been an indoor cat? Is it just an innate thing?
Deadmanwalkn
What do I do if I have 2 cats and niether has ever thrown up a hairball?
MrMeowzerz
Feed them some hair duh

in very rare occasions, I post my comment, and then see another comment I want to answer to. You know what I mean?
melshot
No, I think you think what you have to say is really clever and important. That's why you post it twice.
lazlo09
My cat had a straw in his butthole. I pulled it out and it was 20cm long!
lazlo09
Thats about 8 freedom units (")
StackOverflowing
You shouldn't pull it, it can cause severe damage to their intestines. Cut it instead, it'll eventually come out on its own.
lazlo09
Yes i read that afterwards. If its a long string it can slice their intestines as you say!
