i've read an interesting short story, don't remember the name, about a person dying, meeting a "god" right before being reincarnated, and this "god" explain that every single person who live, lived or will live is them, and that the "god" is feeling lonely so it wants a companion god, but the only way to do that is for a soul to live every conceivable life, live every experience possible, so he made a planet and used a soul who will incarnate every single living organism on it.
