No batteries in it, so it fired right up. Loading w/sound so you all can appreciate the nostalgia.

I wish those here could have experienced the 90's. It was all hope, glory, success, fun, entertaining. It was the best time.

Fuuuuuuuck that was my FIRST game, other than tetris. A lifelong RPG fan was born as soon as I saved the girl from the kobolds.

Put it back. Put it back. Someone put it there on purpose. Nothing turns on with no batteries, unless…

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It looks.. Like the title of the game is Anal Fantasy!!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My mistake as a child was muting the volume on my gameboy all the time to conserve battery life. So much great music missed.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Am I the only one who finds the font choice weird? Anyways... NICE!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Seiken Densetsu 1! (Secret of Mana was #2)

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And Secret of Mana 2 was #3

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is this the one (or one of the ones) where the end boss is God?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I loved that game. The first mana series game. It was very different from the FF games of the time.

Behind ze bookcase?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, someone lost it long ago. But they only have their shelf to blame.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The saddest part of the ending was returning your faithful Chocobro to his mama.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For me, Final Fantasy Legend II was my favorite for the GB. Absolutely stellar music too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNi2G0oXTiE

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Did you continue?

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

All that is not saved will be lost.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not my save game. But I did New Game.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Just beware the batteries on older cartridge's are of the age to fail so saves can go kapoot any time.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Thanks, took 5 minutes to fix.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The third entry into this series on GB is what got me hooked.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Seiken Densetsu 3 on Game Boy? What? How?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think they're confused and thinking of Final Fantasy Legend 3 from the SaGa series on GB. Similarly also not actually a FF title.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yep, I was. Thank you for the clarification.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When I was young I really wanted one, but we were poor. So I saved all money from grandparents from birthdays. All the money was saved …

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

and when I have enough and went to the store, lady in store told me that GMC is not that great and battery won’t last so I would be better

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

to save the money. I was young so I listened .. and never played on Game boy. So how is it? Should I try to get one now?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Years ago I rebought my atomic purple gbc and my childhood nemesis: Shadowgate. Finally beat the game, and now both are on my shelf display.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fun game. Congrats! I still haven't beaten it, because I refuse to use a guide.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s insane without a guide!! I got through 80% on my own but still needed a guide for the rest.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At the end of the game you defeat God and iirc one of your best weapons was a special kind of epic punch. Not a God. GOD. Saitama style.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I got stuck in that game. Ended up grinding to level 99 unable to figure out how to advance the story. Fun title.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You were in a desert trying to get into a castle.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe, been thirty years of wondering and killing stuff. Combat was good.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Find the palm trees, do a figure 8 around them five times. If it doesn't work, do it in reverse.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

NGL with this font, in the thumbnail, I thought it was some joke image. It looked like Anal Fantasy.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Sick, I used to have the see through purple one.

3 years ago | Likes 76 Dislikes 1

Got mine for my birthday with Link's Awakening in color.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That’s awesome! I think I got mega man

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That 90's aesthetic.

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Love it. I still have mine.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wish I did! My mom pulled the classic mom move of, “giving it away”.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Atomic Purple

3 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

That’s the name! I couldn’t think of it.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Brings me back to spending hours at work playing this specific game, waiting for the phone to ring. I'd only get a call every 15-20 mins.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What a great song.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thought it said Anal Fantasy at first

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That's on you, not me.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It took me 3 fucking years to figure out the stupid hint of "Palm Trees and 8" on the exact same color gameboy. Good times.

3 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

Your comment is from over a year ago, but I somehow stumbled upon this post and FUCK that hint, it was useless. No internet existed at the time to help. By the time I accidentally opened that cave I was so overleveled from wandering in the desert that the rest of the game was a joke.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

THERE ARE DOZENS OF US!!! I still remember that stupid "hint" 30 years later.

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

That cryptic bastard and his bag of Fang! This was the first thing I searched for when I got the internet.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

JFC... Same... For fucking EVER. Wasn't until the days of the internet that I figured it out and revisited when I found the GBA

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Same. I never would have gotten it without a friend from my taekwondo class telling me.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

DUDE, SAME! I was overleveled for the rest of the game and maxed out my gold. Randomly did a figure 8 around those trees.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I couldn’t figure out the jukebox clue right off…didn’t know how these games worked yet lol

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Speaking of stupid hints: LOOK TO THE LEFT OF THAT POST. Looked everywhere on Route 13 and couldn't find crap.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haha, my Nintendo Power subscription came in handy here for solving this one back in 1991.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

All those FF games for GameBoy were actually rebranded SaGa games and they've been rereleased for Switch and some other platforms recently.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Oh wait, adventure was a Mana game. The others were Saga games.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

This one was redone on Game Boy Advance as Sword of Mana.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Final fantasy Mashed up with Zelda Mechanics, it's the Reese's peanut butter cup of games!

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The adventure games would eventually become their own series as the Mana series. Adventure 1 getting a soft reboot as Sword of Mana.

AMAZING!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I love it, +updoot

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was already suspicious because how the fuck do you manage to damage a trace INSIDE the game cart unless you did it on purpose lol

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

After 30 years and countless hours, you'd be surprised.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, I would be surprised. I've never seen it, and I've seen a LOT of banged up carts.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Never heard of this game

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Mystic Quest in the uk

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now you have!

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The name sucks. This is actually the prequel to Secret of Mana. You can buy it as part of the secret of mana collection.

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Was it fun though?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just like Chrono Cross got crapped on by trigger fans but it wasn't really a Chrono game, just labeled for the name recognition

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It also had Chrono Trigger optional characters.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They were trying to pull on Final Fantasy's popularity.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Granted, it does have chocobos and moogles in it, plus Lich, Kary, and Kraken as bosses, so it's not exactly *not* a Final Fantasy.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's more like FF mixed with the first Legend of Zelda. That said, the Japanese name is "Seiken Densetsu" = "Legend of the Sacred Sword."
