First solo roadtrip.. Any advice?

Nov 28, 2016 3:45 PM

SO next summer I am planning my first solo roadtrip. I will be on the road for about 4-6 weeks and this is basically the route. I will leave Denver, go to Yellowstone NP, Glacier NP, then spend a little time in Washington and Oregon before going through Idaho to get back to Denver. Does anyone have any advice about solo roadtripping or the areas I'll be in?

Get a plug kit and car compressor for random nails and bullshit.

Eat at local spots and have a drink at local pubs. Stay rested and make sure that playlist is on point!

If there's a fork in the road, take it.

Stop in Wendell ID and go to Papa Kelsey's pizza and subs.

Include the coastal 101 loop around the Olympic Peninsula in Washington. Oregon Coast to WA via Astoria too.

Good advice right there.

Ya, scratch that route and go to vegas and back. A lot shorter and you'll waste more money. Don't forget the hookers and blackjack!

Or take an hour detour in Idaho and go to Jackpot(south at twin falls) loose slots and old ugly women.

Go see the Troll under the bridge in Seattle. Its a local thing, but pretty cool.

I've driven all of these roads and grew up all the way through this area...some really great places to see. Are you camping?

Yes. Primitive camping style. I'll have a car, but will be sleeping in a tent, cooking with a gas camping stove, etc.

There's some great places in central Oregon. Small lakes where you'll be the only one camping.

Camping on the beach in Washington is great, as well as through eastern Washington, northern Idaho. Just watch for rattlesnakes

From Portland cut west to Astoria, then head toward Seattle via Long Beach, Aberdeen, etc. Leas time on interstate=more fun.

Also, consider cutting down to Moab, UT, for a day or two, add Arches, Island in the Sky, and Dead Horse. Good short hikes in those areas.

Nevermind, you're too far north.
