If I remember correctly this originally was a green text from 4Chan. One of the very very few examples of something good coming from that cesspool of a site, haha

I'll upvote this every time I see it, forever

When playing Trackmania, you can record a race run (Ghost, basically) and then save it, and send it to someone else, and they can race against it. When I was working a store in 2005 we used to play some specific Tracks and send Ghosts to each other, so eventually one of us will own Ghosts that belong to someone that has passed.

There was a scene like this in the live action Speed Racer movie.

Literally a major plot point in The King’s Avatar. Cool story if true. =) https://m.imdb.com/title/tt6859260/

'his ghost still rolls around the track today' This hit me

It's been years since I last saw this and, yes, definitely worth sharing again.

Beautiful moment aside, this was a great game. I had the 2nd game and thrashed it. I used the save function ONE time - there was a run with a steep downhill straight followed by a small rise. One day I got so much speed up that when I hit the rise, the resulting jump was so big that I landed nose first, flipped the car straight on to the roof, kept rolling and landed perfect on my wheels again perfectly straight and kept driving. Loved that game.

😂 funny typo

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"...we are two of soul." I still think about that guy sometimes.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same with my dad but the game is halo.... about 1/2 of it is ghost tea bagging and slurs.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

hey programmers, every game should have top player ghost mode

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ghost in the machine.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He should handbrake the game and play it on an emulator so that he'll never lose the save file

10 months ago | Likes 174 Dislikes 0

can you elaborate?

10 months ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

Guessing from context, transferring the save file via backup to elsewhere and playing only the backup so the original save is safe

10 months ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

The save data isn't on the game disc, it's on the internal hard drive. But there should be ways to back up both for later emulator use.

"Handbrake the game"?

10 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

They may mean "jailbreak" but because the handbrake is a rally thing, I'll owllow it.

10 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Oh I meant literally use the program handbrake to rip the disk but I see what you did there.

10 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I'll owllow that too.

Or close the drive, then make an image and 3-2-1 that bitch

10 months ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

clone* stupid fucking smartphone i miss blackberrys

10 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Ok but how the hell do you get 3-2-1 from clone? I cant imagine anything that would ever autocorrect to 3-2-1.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Close = clone. "3-2-1" is a backup method. Three backups in two mediums with 1 offsite

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ahh I'd never heard of that backup method. Thanks!

Can't even tell if you are trolling or not

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I must still be extremely tired because it was a genuine question.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lol right? I'm gonna go ahead and take the bait anyway

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This sorta comes up in the live action speed racer. In an earlier race he races against his brothers best time hologram.

10 months ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 1

The critics panned it, calling it campy. I mean, have they seen the original Speed Racer? It was camp incarnate.

10 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Brilliant movie. Much like Sense8 (also wachowski's) it was too far ahead of its time to get enough people to like it. Pretty sure the studio and marketing were too confused to know what to do with it

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a huge Speed Racer fan, they absolutely NAILED that movie. Unfortunately, they nailed it too well. I loved it but I could absolutely see how anyone unfamiliar with the classic Speed Racer cartoons (which is most people) wouldn't get the tone of the movie at all.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I didn't even know of the anime before seeing the movie. Also, I didn't appreciate it that much at first, until I watched it on xtc, holy shit! XD

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That movie was criminally-ignored at the time it came out. "Ninjas? More like nonjas."

10 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Maybe we should send their marketing department some chim chim cookies

10 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Shame what passes for a ninja these days!

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's still criminally ignored. It's still a fantastic movie.

And the fact that it is almost entirely CGI and none of the moving parts on the cars are real, is the only thing that keeps me from tearing my hair at the absolute engineering NIGHTMARE that is the suspension/steering bullshittery the Mach 5 has going on...

I just made my roommate watch this on Saturday. Everyrime they cut back to the racing he just kept saying "Ah, the B plot"

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I like your roommate. He sounds fun to watch movies with.

Just not in theaters. His inner commentary isn't always inner
