How did they select the people they targeted?

Deliberately changed results to incriminate drivers.

Was it a matter of "Māori drink drive, everyone knows it" ?

The answer is the obvious one.

All cops isn't just an American thing...

5 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Cops knowingly doing shit like this should be executed. Or at LEAST have their citizenship revoked and exiled to hell.

"None of the staff had been stood down"
Sounds about right.

Wild, all the cops I saw at DUI checkpoints during Easter holiday didn't pull out one Maori, but limited experience and all that. Granted, south island, so a bit different I suppose.

I can imagine them trying to do that with me. I don't drink, period, near 50 years old and the most I've had was half a beer, once, in my entire life, which I found vile and didn't even finish.

Suddenly cop: you're drunk, pay a fine.

In the ol' days they used machines that had a needle on them. A guy I know was pulled over in his hometown by the local PD. They didn't like him much. He hadn't been drinking. He blew into the unit and the needle showed he was not drunk. Cop stuck his finger on the machine, pushed the needle into "way drunk" territory, and said "You're driving while intoxicated. You're under arrest.".

All Cops you say?

Meanwhile, here in Philadelphia, the former DA's office had a long list of cops who had lied under oath, planted evidence, illegally arrested people, etc so many times that they weren't allowed to testify in court because their testimony was considered a liability to the case. None of those cops ever suffered any professional consequences other than not being called to testify in court anymore.

Never thought New Zealand would pull such a dick move. Damn. I guess it’s true, then.

NZ police have been corrupt for many years. I've seen it first hand. No one joins to protect and serve, they join because they love power over people. The police are the biggest gang in NZ.

You sound like a Sith.

For the last 50 years the cops have in the USA doing that as standard operating procedure that's why they have qualified immunity to so the city and department can't be sued by there victims. The departments don't give a damn what crimes the officers commit.

There are plenty of "good guys" working for the Nazis and helping them transport and murder people. They loved their kids and spouse. Did nice thing in the community. Were friendly neighbors....but they still fucking murdered millions of people. How the fuck is that even possible? It's because they were trained to look at "people" (Not other cops) as detrimental to society as a whole. They murdered people to keep people "safe". Same shit different century.

Even worse, this will result in actual drunk drivers getting off too because every test administered by that department is now suspect

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

True but it is more important the innocent are also vindicated a dui charge can destroy your entire life, those sick pos cops should get life behind bars for destroying that many people’s futures

When I got a DUI the cop gave me a breathalyzer and it registered .08. But I only had 2 beers. I insisted that they give me a test at the police station. That one read .03. In California the limit is .08. I should have been free to go. The cop STILL put me in the drunk tank. Towed my car. Wrote me up for a fat ass DUI. I had to go to jail for 2 full days. I almost lost my job. My license was suspended, And when I finally got a lawyer, it was immediately thrown out of court - totally erased. WTF.

Malicious attempts to destroy one’s life should be grounds for immediate dismissal

Don’t trust anything from RNZ. It’s basically the closest we have to fox news.
Absolutely nothing in the article has anything to do with cops doing bad, but is intentional phrased to blame the police for what seems like faulty testing equipment.

What?
You high bro? Or are you an antivax 🌰?

AI FTW in this case

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

? You mean they used AI to prove a crime was occurring?

Sifting through the data and finding the evidence of the crimes.

I think you know by what criteria they selected the people they targeted.

5 months ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

I’ve never been to New Zealand, met a NZer, or really even seen it portrayed so I couldn’t begin to guess the target. Can you please share for the enlightenment of us all?

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Maori are the indigenous people of New Zealand.

5 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Well that is a new word/noun for this guy. Thanks!

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"if you're white, you're all right" would be my guess.

5 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

Not too familiar with New Zealand racism. Is this applicable there?

5 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

The local population has been discriminated against quite heavily, colonialism was no joke there.

5 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Fuck. Humans suck.

5 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

We have 52.6 % of the prison population and only 17.8% of the general population.
I'm New Zealand Māori but as a little kid I looked Pākāha, we jumped the fence into the Coke factory to joy ride on the forklift trucks ( dickheads) jumped back out and into the arms of two Pākāha cops 1972, they slapped the shit out of my darker cousins and arrested them and slapped me and our Pākāha buddy telling us " we catch you hanging around with fucking Māori again and you're for it" let us go.

ACAB. Everywhere. Same shit. They exist to protect the wealthy and property belonging to the wealthy. Everyone else is just here for them to fuck with and keep the courts filled with "criminals". Never call the cops. They always make the situation worse and they frequently "solve" small problems, by murdering someone. Fuck all of them, anywhere and everywhere.

A friend of mine became a cop. First month on the job... one of the old guys tell him "After a year on the job, there are only two kinds of people: other cops, and assholes".

5 months ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Na, it only takes a significant percentage of them to be cunts and it feels like it's them all.
I've met a lot of good ones.

5 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 11

Agreed there are plenty of cops who do their jobs. The question is how many know or hear things and do nothing (go to media, quit, etc) - that makes them complicit. Living in a city known for corrupt police I think it's fair to say they're all bastards here

5 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

The problem there is that cops are allowed to investigate themselves, rather than by independent third-parties. Internal Affairs is just another branch of the police, so it’s just cops investigating cops, which is why even when good cops DO say something, nothing ever happens. It’s a huge problem here in Australia, academic papers about it and everything.

If cops were actually investigated by people outside the police who had power to ignore union protections, there’s be a lot fewer bad apples.

yup. I've had some issues recently regarding a construction company leaving equipment on my property while they work on my neighbor's house. I have explained to both the contractors and police that the construction workers have been trespassing on my land. After I called the cops, the responding officer shrugged and said, they are working, what do you expect?

"From the audit which covered over 4.6 million breath tests performed between 1 July 2024 and 17 August 2025, the initial analysis suggested there were tests conducted that were simulated without the involvement of a driver.

The audit indicated that some staff had recorded breath screening tests that hadn't occurred.

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So it could be instances where they recognized a friend and conducted the test without allowing their friends breath to be tested?

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

120 cops and 30k tests, so I don't think that's it.
