Can't believe this dank thing made FP again because of me. I was drunk last night, saw it in my photos, and said what the fuck imma post it. LMAO. Ol' Musky is best Musky...

I have an Android, and I give my apps permissions myself, lots of apps wants permission to stuff they don't need

Not gonna lie I miss read flashlight and I was thinking, "My god, what a time to be alive"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

WTF = When the flashlight

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m on the spotlight.

I wonder how he feels about the AI in his own cars?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For some reason the Panera app wanted access to my ENTIRE phone, and it literally used non of the permission, I uninstalled immediately

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It has to be Fleshlight. There are the AI next frontier.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I work with phones. NEVER download apps your phone can already do and NEVER give suspicious permissions... Viruses out the ass.

iphone has built in flashlight

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah, I am glad I am not the only one noticing that.Ridiculous access rights on Samsung Galaxy. Just disable it and get non-stock one.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Official apps are a different story. The vendor controls your ROM anyway. ("Well, we have root.")

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#androidproblems

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Then again, some flashlight apps would flash the light when you get or have gotten a call. Perhaps the permission is for that. Still no!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You only need the "Phone" permission for viewing phone status, no need for contacts. At least for Android, got no experience with iPhone.

i laughed out loud because i'm that paranoid and i'd make this face every time i install a new app. every time.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

His face is what does it for me. That and also knowing he's paranoid about AI. Lmao!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

well if you want to actually get your phone calls to come through when you are using your flashlight, yes it needs access to your call logs.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 7

Unless you're making some joke I don't understand, that's not how any modern phone OS works.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That article is just wrong (or severely outdated), as anyone who actually uses Android can surely attest.

At this point literally everyone calls him that.

I once had a music player app that wanted access to wifi and GPS. Had.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

I just use LuckyPatcher to forcibly remove the authorizations off of the app, and usually the apps keep going fine.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Gonna have to look into that. Thanks!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Location based Music selection?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Location based ad placement more like.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Still doesn't justify precise location though.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

flashlight app? don't all phones have a built in flashlight button, usually just swipe down from the top and it's there

8 years ago | Likes 441 Dislikes 21

I think he's calling the button an app.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 10

if you're a hp fan and you're on an android you can also use "lumos" or "nox" with ok google to turn the light on/off too.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hello fellow Android user.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

mine has its flashlight button but turns led only to 50% brightness while downloaded app turns it to 100

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You know how some of the flashlight apps let you flash your light?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope. Mine doesn't.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I think apps give you more control of intensity than the default widgets.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My dad's smartphone had a flashlight but no means of turning it on. He had to download an app for that.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You mean up from the bottom. ;)

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

From the top in Android, from the bottom in iOS.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

im an android developer and I didn't know this shit +1

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That's what everyone asked last time this was on FP.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I had no idea this dank thing was going to make fp again. I was drunk last night and it made me laugh, so I posted...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mine does not.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Mine does not either

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most phones that lack it as a regular toggle have it as a widget instead.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just shake mine

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My phone comes with a flashlight "Widget". I had to place it on the homescreen or no flashlight.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can relate. Modern Android allows to do that from the swipe-from-top menu. (No need to unlock)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just shake my Moto G and it turns on. very handy

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I just got one today. Awesome shit.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Less handy when you're constantly turning it on by mistake and only notice when it burns your thigh D:

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

you basically would have to kick someone, twice, for there to be enough motion to trigger, its less of a "shake" and more of a "chop"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I didn't make a habit of kicking people but I am pretty active so IDK. Happened all the time with my Moto G.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I imagine ambient sensors would play a roll in stopping that from happening

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Happened constantly to me with a Moto G, maybe I'm just spaz.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Despite all ya'll feedback this happened to me constantly with the Moto G in my pocket! Guess I'm spaz.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have Moto too, never had that problem.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I may just be extra spaz, haha.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The proximity sensors take care of that :l

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Never did for me, happened all the time with my Moto G.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It didn't used to be that way, man. You used to basically have to override the camera's flash into it.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

It's okay. Imgur always follows the trend.

Username checks out.

8 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 2

Shit man, I had downvoted you at first, but here you come with facts nd shit. Take all three of your upvotes

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So, while it can be used, it's retarded according to Cambridge Dictionary.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

It's a joke. Musky is concerned about AI taking over...and this is a joke playing off his fears. Didn't happen to me.

8 years ago | Likes 124 Dislikes 27

Compass apps though. I had one asking for access to my camera or files or something like that.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is no joke, my phone didn't have a flashlight button by default. It's been common only for the last 8 years or so. ("only")

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Ol'musky!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe it did and you just don't realize it?!

Imgur does.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Dude how old are you? Phones without default flashlight are as new as 2 years ago.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

Not everyone changes phones that often

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

And they're saying that it was still common to lack that feature so recently, so someone who thinks it's common has changed since about then
