Deal with the regime the Chicago way, they put one of yours in hospital, you put one of theirs in the morgue.

I'm just waiting for the army to get involved. This is going to get very ugly, very soon.

The price of freedom isn’t free. Hail all freedom loving people of the world, in Iran and elsewhere. And Slava Ukraini!
easyoneundone
if they don’t fight now nothing will change for another 10 years
flordelasantillas
It doesn't matter which country, when citizens protest the police beat them down. When they murder it's justified for rule of law and order.
bolinotoyou
but, where will the Russians vacation now ?

Dubai, Italy, Paris, London, Seychelles... As always.

When the morality police enforce religious ideas as strict codes/laws upon the masses, eventually they’ll receive the horns. Give ‘em horns!

This is so scary and very worrying. These people are so brave, but I worry for their safety.
Corrodias
I've learned they *have* actually maimed and killed protestors, like my good ol' homeland, so there's plenty of reason to worry.
I was worried until I saw that the cops don't even have firearms. I guess it's not like America where they just maim and kill protestors.
To be less snarky, I am concerned as well, but I find the contrast fascinating. Batons and shields, no guns, no chemical weapons? Huh.
It won’t be long before the military are sent in . That is when the protesters will have to protect themselves. ?
RandyRandalman
Our cops aren't actually here to protect us or enforce law and order, which is why they are equipped better than many military forces.

oh no it gets confusing — Iran vs Islam

Theocracies aren't for the ppl or the country. They are for their own power only and will destroy any country to gain it n keep it.
So most ppl in it will hate it and feel like their country was stolem from them...
but remember their history — those countries were not created with freedoms granted by the US Constitution
Öööh... you talking about guns? Or?
TeamSpicyTacos
Serious question: if the Islamic republic collapses, what interim govt body takes over? Does at some point some alternative body need to /
Userlivewire
It won’t fall. The military will start clearing cities with live fire before that happens.
hedonophobia
This was the issue last time. The last revolution was never about installing a theocracy, they were just the most organized.
HonestCommentFarmer
It depends on how organized the collapsers are, how the collapse happens, and how the collapsees try to cling to power. There's a wide range

Revolutions are like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get.

The mullahs have no problem solving this problem via genocide. And the military will provide the bullets. I remain pessimistic.
circlebreaker
Same. Nobody wants to hear it, but the demonstrators are in dire risk of massacre. God help those who've already been arrested.
DiskingCabbage
It won’t. They’ve been through lots of uprisings before and they all get squashed.
except when they don't
iabductaliens11
I just hope some country doesn't swoop in. Like Russia, China, or the most likely, the USA.
All three of those are having their own problems at the moment.
Being from the USA, I know.
ThePlatinumRetriever
I see the military stepping in to install a junta, similar to Egypt, except instead of a US backed govt, it’s Russia or China.
getyourfruitoffmeyoudamndirtygrapes
Most of the military there is designed to keep the Ayatollah in command, it's called the IRGC and isn't the same as the regular military
Difficult to say, Qasem Soleimani seemed like a good guy. Too bad Trump had him assassinated for no fucking reason.

Russia isn't really in a position to back anyone else right now.

Neither is China.

The CIA
Take over, or does this separate the islamists from the govt only, and the current regime can continue? Are they linked?
smellsmiketeenspirit
Many moving pieces. External influences, recognition of power, frozen stock markets, etc. Many dangers.
The government are the islamists. We will wait and see, not easy to answer. But there are enough political prisoners to crreate a new system
PFCChurch
Do the mullahs see any irony in this situation compared to the last time people took the streets?
orangeyougladididntsaypoop
Can i be president? I have a lot of good ideas
In the current system only if you are shia and the supreme council and dictator says yes. In a free Iran who knows maybe?
Thank you. Some countries have govt in waiting in other countries, is this the case for Iran?
We have a bunch of opposition groups in the west but no not really and it's not needed if you ask me, they are united for freedom
But streets, roads, need maintenance, power needs to stay on, internet needs to be turned on, usually govts are responsible for that
