Lucky, the "family" is at the place I'm living. Parents took in my step sister cause she was struggling to help her save some money. Going on 3 years now, she still hasn't saved anything, though she has been to countless concerts, goes out all the time with friends to dinner and parties....
When I get to a job site and it's not my usual paving / milling crews... or even worse, the person I'm going to be working literally all day with on the radio is someone I know will grind my will to live into a fine powder and snort it. Nothing worse than being trapped on a radio for 10+ hours with someone that wants to spend all of it telling me about how I should grieve death and that I should've moved on by now. I'm 40 years old, I want to be an antisocial hermit, so no.. eff off.
Every meeting which involves the entire team at work. Especially with teamleads present because they will say the dumbest shit, come up with the most inefficient way of working imaginable, present that as if it's "just an idea and discussion is still possible". Motherfuckers just tell us we have to do it. Dont act as if we have any say in this. Also just send a mail instead of an hour long bla bla.
The one time I blew up at work was because of this. Told them to stop giving us the illusion of choice whenever they change stuff for the sake of changing stuff. Team lead was slightly flustered and thanked me for the feedback. Nothing happened to me because everyone involved knows its all busywork for middle managers.
Exactly. I have been at the company for 20 years. Management wants to change something. They already decided without asking anyone. They have already sold the "brilliant idea" to upper management. So no matter what, the idea will be implemented. Which is all fine by me. Just say: from now on we will not be using computers we will go back to written paper. Sure! No problem! I dont care. But do NOT ask me "if its a good idea to ditch computers" and then implement paper anyway.
I have a coworker who will just stand next to the work. He just stands there. I'm doing my job and his. I'm not focusing my anger at him; my fury is aimed at my boss who allows this shit. I'm pre-annoyed every morning I work with either of them.
Parents took step-sister in, who is a piece of shit. She has a kid, though, and uses her as a pawn to stay here while taking advantage of parents. She threatens to make herself homeless and take her kid with her, and my parents never getting to see their grandkid again anytime they try and set some rules or boundries.
Oof, appeasing someone like that rarely works out in the end. Even if they're willing to make the sacrifice, sucks for everyone else involved who didn't get a choice.

I've never done paving or milling professionally. Do people just ... yak on the freakin radio? All day long while you're trying to work?
