Ferocious Mort

Jan 15, 2024 5:39 PM

I worked at a zoo. Up close to the lion in a back room pen with a coworker. We turned to leave and big buddy roared. We both felt pee.

Since Mort is the only one that would be in my house he would be the one to kill me.

No bear? No walrus??? No cassowary???

There are few sounds more spine-chilling to a primate/ape than that of a tiger or lion growl & roar. Or Mort's for that matter...

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I bet Mort has more kills under his fur than the other 3 combined

Mort is beautiful.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Amusing how cats either are capable of roaring or purring.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mort is ferocious

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would fear Mort since you have to live with him. He may not be loud but fear the quiet ones.

Solid top 5 performance for Mort!

4th is respectable

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Should have been number 1 if you ask me.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Mort put some time in. Respect.

Man, that’s half my game library right there. So many roars from monsters, and most of them are just remixes :D

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have 3. One croaks, one whines and one chirps. It never ceases to amaze me how I can tell which cat is upset by the sound of their voice

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wouldn't a housecat's "roar" be more equivalent to the shouting they do just before a cat fight?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

am fierce

The lion roar actually does look a bit like this

Mort can purr and so cannot roar. System was rigged to begin with. Justice for Mort!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Was mort trying his best? I think not

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would die for Mort

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hope Mort is a Terry Pratchett reference, just cause I love Terry Pratchett.

I went to my local zoo a few years ago with my friend and we had lions but they weren't out often. well this day they were and the males roar was so loud and frightening it legit scared the shit outta me.

Some ancient instinct was triggered by this sound. Lions used to be far more widespread in the past. There were even lions in Europe until late antiquity: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_lions_in_Europe For most of our species' existence, they were just as serious of a threat to us as bears, wolves and the likes.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. Legit explains my reaction lol

Auto tune will fix that last one. Good take everyone

I am glad there are emoticons for tiger and lion but it's a pity we will never know the other two animals.

As the owner of a squeaker it's very terrifying.

2 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 0

Mine was squeak chirping and a person I was talking to on the phone thought he was barking. Very intimidating.

Just look at him and run in fear.

My best friend's cat actually loves the 2019 π˜“π˜ͺ𝘰𝘯 π˜’π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨. He doesn't normally take too much notice of movies but he's mesmerized by π˜›π˜©π˜¦ π˜“π˜ͺ𝘰𝘯 π˜’π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨.

My dogs growled at the Tiger, but were confused by Morty, lol!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Go for it, it's not like she wouldn't wake you up

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

She doesn't, actually. She's a very gentle soul. Except that time she was kneading my throat (which she does every time she was cuddles) and stuck her paw in my mouth.

Weird hearing a lion roar, I forget how much media likes to dub it over with a tiger's

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

The famous MGM logo that features a lion is dubbed over with a tiger roar.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Which is weird given that the lion roar is much more impressive (no hate on the tiger, mind). I've heard a lion roar in person - it was in a zoo just over half a mile away and it still made me stop and ponder how safe I really was. Listening to the lion roar in this and hearing it reverberate was awesome

I was at the zoo, looking at some antelope-type animal, when a lion started roaring. Instant freeze, eyes wide with terror, with his butt clenched so tight you couldn't hammer a needle into it. I felt sorry, for this poor animal, because his enclosure was only about 50 yards from the lion exhibit and tiger pit.
