#9 Friends of ours in Germany had a German Shepherd called Booboo and a Chihuahua named Yogi. Yogi was a polite little gentleman. Booboo was playful at home, but a huge asshole to other dogs out and about. We stopped taking Booboo for walks because we kept having to pull him back and reassure other people that he wasn't actually aggressive, just an asshole.

They're all good dogs Bront

The border collies running 'til they bleed hits close. My dog is half BC and I thought I could drain his energy by letting him pull me on my bicycle. Paws started to bleed after about a week of that. Got musher's secret. His claws wore down so far they started to bleed. I wish he could control himself more, we'd have so much more fun.

#1 Hits way too close to home since i have a father whos drinking and complete lack of economical thinking lost us a cabin and around 300 hectares of land -.- only reason we didnt lose our home was cuz at the time he and mom had already divorced and he lived in said cabin.

My dead grandmother had a rottweiler and a chihuahua who had #9 energy and they were awesome. (She was still alive when she had the dogs.)

Something like this?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Nah. Judy was sweet, but when Rosie would tear across the yard, Judy'd be flapping behind, clamped down on her jowls.

#19 Kids dont need meat, they just need a good diet. just sayin. none of that stupid missinformation pro or anti meat/vegetarian/veganism.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Dogs too, are not obligate carnivores, they're omnivores.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

actually didnt know this. thank you

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Dogs are somewhat omnivorous, but there are some concerns that the reason grain free dog food is linked to heart disease is because they also replace some of the meat protein with bean protein, which may cause issues. Still a safer thing to attempt than a vegetarian cat though.

#3 Yes! We got a trainer for our rescue and he said just this. We trained excessive barking out of him with calm verbal commands. When he stops we say “thank you!”

2 years ago | Likes 84 Dislikes 1

He was so afraid of everything, but thankfully fostered with other dogs and was such a nudge. He took to training immediately and is so smart. He still shakes at times, but can be brave through it now. He’s the best.

Came here to agree as well, as a former dog trainer. Clickers work wonders for excessive barking, you just have to condition them correctly with the tool. Know what never seems to help? Yelling at the dog to stop barking. You're just showing them it's okay to be loud!

Last time I got a dog, I remember finding a tip online; "Its much easier to train in a good behavior than train out a bad one." Potty-training a puppy? Don't scold them for pooping indoors; reward them for pooping outdoors. Want them to stop barking at the door? Train them to pick up/fetch a toy when they hear the doorbell. Can't bark with a mouthful of Lambchop!

I was a surgical tech when we got a call about a pregnant pittie in the cornfields (she gave birth, I fostered for 1 day and caved and adopted lol.) she's got SUCH emotional intelligence it baffles me, but I understand the anxiety that comes with that intelligence lol. do you find the same, for yours?
